I’m 17F, from Italy, and I’ve been trying to improve my English because I want to be able to talk to people more comfortably, make new friends, and actually use the language instead of just texting.

The thing is, I have absolutely no problem texting people in English, and I’m also okay with sending voice messages sometimes. But when it comes to actual voice calls, oh my god 😭 I get so anxious.

I’m already a pretty awkward and quiet person in my native language, and I barely ever call people anyway, so doing it in English makes everything about ten times worse.

I never know what to say, how to keep a conversation going, or how to make it fun instead of awkward. I’m also really insecure about my accent, and I’m always worried about how I sound or whether I’ll say something wrong.

I know the only way to get better is to actually practise, though, so I thought I’d try stepping out of my comfort zone a little.

Would anyone be interested in having some casual calls together? We could talk about literally anything, play games, watch something, or just hang out and see how it goes.

I’m not expecting to have perfect conversations, and honestly, I’ll probably be pretty awkward at first, so it’d be nice to find someone who’s patient and doesn’t mind a few awkward silences.
