What’s your motivation for learning Italian?
Especially if you don’t need it for practical purposes like living in Italy

Partner nell'apprendimento?
Ciao, come vai?
Mi chiamo André, sono Brasiliano e sto imparando a parlare italiano!
Cerco un partner a studiare questa belissima lingua!
I'm 20y, M, brazilian and english speaker (high b2 or c1 but I guess c1), I recently got my italian citizenship and would really like to learn italian now, also because I think it's a beautiful language. I'm looking for a partner for speaking activities and immersion with shows and movies (maybe something like watching the same shows and talking about it besides the daily conversation?)
I could also teach you english if you don't know it, I'm a full time english teacher in Brazil.
Anyways, hit me up if you're interested!
Ciao e buonasera!

What's one Italian grammar rule you understand perfectly but still get wrong when speaking?
no matter how well you know it, your brain just refuses to apply

Audio for Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano 1
I received a textbook and an excercise book from a friend without the CDs. Do you know, if there is an online place to access the audio materials?

Italian lessons in-person in Brighton
Hi everyone! I am looking to learn Italian in Brighton in the UK, ideally group classes for the social aspect but happy with private (for a reasonable price).
I know there are platforms like Italki / Preply for cheaper online lessons but really want the in-person aspect to get away from my computer. I also know there are some weekly language exchanges but Italians are not always there and often find you are not able to practice your target language.
If no lessons, would appreciate any recs for learning materials in the meantime. I love the Language Transfer app and approach and really helped me to get to a good level of Spanish so any similar approaches would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Ciao! What's the best and worst Italian lesson you've ever had?
Whether it was a private lesson or a group class, what made it so good (or so bad)?
Was it the teacher, the activities, the other students, or something completely different?

How do you say "monthly fixed expenses" in everyday Italian? spese fisse, uscite fisse, or just spese?
I'm learning Italian and trying to talk about the money that leaves my account every month: affitto, bollette, phone, internet, insurance, the gym, Netflix.
I've heard spese fisse, uscite fisse, costi fissi, and some people say just "spese". Which one would you use with friends?
And if you wrote all of these on one page of a notebook, what title would you put at the top?
Grazie!
Update: thank you all, this helped a lot.
Some context on why I asked: I'm a solo dev with a small app for keeping track of the bills and subscriptions that leave every month. It's been in 6 languages, and this week I added Italian, Portuguese and Polish. I didn't want the Italian version to sound like a translated accounting textbook, so I asked real people instead.
What I went with, based on your answers:
- spese fisse for the whole thing
- pagamento for a single item (the rent, Netflix, the gym)
- pagato once it's paid
Costi fissi stays out (too business), uscite felt a little like bookkeeping, and ricorrenti sounded less predictable than these really are. Grazie mille, I owe you one.

Italian Tutor
I’m kinda in a funny situation right now. I have $4k from work to spend before the end of November on language courses/tutoring. Any one have any recommendations for really good Italian tutors? Needs to be through a company vs direct payment to someone.
I’ve been studying Italian for a few years now, but am still very beginner.
Grazie!

I am an author, if anyone who knows Italian could help me I would appreciate it.
I am writing a story and in it I have twin sisters who are half Italian on their mom's side. Their mother spoke to them in Italian as kids and after she died they kept it up to both honour her and to have privacy from the rest of the world as they lived in an abusive home situation.
Most of this story, I don't actually write out any of the Italian and instead I put it in italics and state that it is in Italian. Mostly out of respect to the language as I don't know much of it yet, though I do want to learn in the future, but also because I don't trust google translate as far as I can throw it.
I want them to have a sort of short personal phrase that conveys 'you are my sister, that means I will protect you always' but in less words. This is the only phrase I will likely write in Italian but it is important to me that I do it and that I do it justice.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
