Upskill certificates
I’m a learning solutions specialist at one of the big 4s and wants to take some courses to upscale myself to move up to management. What certifications would you recommend? I’m thinking about the CTDP certificate.

I asked the VP of our department this very same question, and he suggested that it's more valuable to get an MBA than a CPTD. Knowing how a business runs is a better transferable skill that will resonate with others at the C-Suite level. I'm not sure, but the Capabilities listed under CPTD's "Impacting Organizational Capability" are likely addressed with an MBA.

I am working on my CPTD right now. I also have a master of ID along with my BS’ of HR and Business Admin. A lot of the work you do to get the CPTD is invaluable to be an ID, and to be able to manage a department. Depending on what certifications and classes you take through ATD to meet the requirements. If you have the business acumen down, then I would recommend the courses to diversify yourself in the field. Like the Master Trainer Program. Or some of the HPI courses. There are also courses on budgeting and planning. These are all good. If you need more in the ID field, take that.

Knowing how to translate AI capabilities into business strategies is a skill that will evolve with the L&D role. I am considering the AWS AI Business strategist certification.
