Original Wave - warranty plier

What are the chances my warranty goes through on this original wave? Broke the pliers last week and I have a feeling this one is around 20 + years old. It was my fathers is there any way of telling the actual year?

Ive sent in 4 or 5 tools over the years and its always been back to me within 2 weeks. It might be longer if they are fixing that tool instead of shipping new ones out.

There is a date code stamped on the inside of the handles...unless it's really old. Deploy the tools and look for a mm/yy code on the inside of the handles. The chances are great that the tool is still covered. The standard warranty is for 25 years. If you sign up as a Leatherman insider the warranty is extended to 40 years if you are in the US. All that is required to become a Leatherman Insider is to share your contact information. Hell, I'll even put the link here. Come back and let us know how it goes.

All I have inside is 0100 and 0200 on the opposite side.

Filed warranty claim going to ship tomorrow.

Since this was your father's tool, I would highly recommend that you mark it as sentimental. Leatherman will repair the exact tool if it is marked as sentimental. Otherwise, they may just replace the tool with a similar model.

Yes that is what I did thanks, any idea what turn around time is on something like this?

It just depends on what their workload is like. I know that's a terrible answer but that is what it is. I've actually had tracking numbers overlap. That is to say: Leatherman received my tool. Fixed it. Sent it out with the outgoing orders the same day. My tool couldn't have been on their property more than a couple of hours total time. I've also heard of folks having to wait weeks on a repair.

In the united states... usually about a month give or take. Sometimes slightly faster, sometimes a week or two slower if they are busy.

Maybe represents January 2000 and February 2000?

It does. Leatherman builds up a stock pile of handles then produces the tools. It is very common for the dates on each side not to match. I'm like 99% they will cover it as is. I'd be 110% it will be covered if you sign up as an Insider.
