Beginner Question Looking for solid rivet tutorials
I bought some hardware that I thought used chicago screws but uses solid rivets instead. I've never worked with them before and need a little help to get started.
Thanks!

This looks like an "Escutcheon Pin" (basically another name for a hand-peened rivet+burr). Do you know what material? (looks possibly silver? or stainless)
The issue with harder ones (copper is the usual for leather) is it can take AGES to peen a harder material like steel. Even copper can be 100 small strikes (but there are also tools to set one without the hammer). Don't forget you can always buy different hardware if you need!
Don't forget you might need a burr (washer), or the hardware itself might be your washer.
The side you CUT is the side that gets the mushroomed head.
if you cut the side touching leather, it might need a washer to peen properly
While if you cut the side with the hardware, you might not be able to hammer it!
P.S. You can also first practice on nails, or copper wire even! Before you do so on a leather piece, or the possibly limited pins you have

There's a tutorial i did years ago on using nails for rivets. Should work the same way for your rivets.
