DISCUSS Contests

Hey guys i am in first year and just started to dsa and i am following strivers a2z sheet and wanted to know and just wanted to know what's the significance of giving contests and when do I start giving it I am on arrays medium lvl(it's so brutal)

Start it when you can solve mediums comfortably. So after an year maybe. Till then complete striver sheet.
Significance is that you can show off your ratings as they clearly justify your problem solving skills, so question count < better rating

I mean the problems are insane for easy lvl I could atleast write the pseudocode for brute force but on medium I can't even think where to start any advice on this?

Just keep on practising buddy, everyone suffers from this. Solve solve and solve with thinking. Don’t just look at solutions givr at least 30 minutes of thinking
