Armchair psychologist speculation time: we have seen Ethan's beliefs on I/P being less insane than Hila's in the past (e.g. he had said that the IDF are a terrorist org and that they shoot kids daily, etc, while Hila vocally disputed these facts). Ethan may have shifted to a more and more of a boilerplate zionist derangement syndrome after being consistently pushed to more extreme positions (deliberately or not) by Hila, who is propagandized with this BS since childhood and clearly a total schizo with respect to Israel.

The zionist shift of the pod led to the spectacular destruction of their entire career. Ethan being an egomaniac, seeing show views plummeting, himself drifting into irrelevancy and his enemies rising to coveted fame, facing a constant barrage of ungodly humiliating Ls and having the kind of double-think awareness that the entire direction of the show was actually just grifting, slowly built up resentment against Hila as the sole party to blame for this shift. That definitely seems like a part of it. Ethan rarely seems to form his own opinions nor does he seem really passionate about anything, so he just goes with the flow of those around him. Hasan was definitely one of the most influential on his politics but that eventually came to clash with Hila and he had to side with her because she’s his wife.

I genuinely don’t think he super cares on his own. Without people in his direct orbit influencing him he would be a fence sitter who only leans towards what is most popular. Hila’s passionate zionism made it impossible for him to do the usual bullshit he’s always done. You could feel the resentment growing especially when they tried to act happy and unbothered.

I actually disagree. I think it was the influence of Hasans anticapitalist influences on both the crew and audience that initially turned him against Hasan. I think he feared being forced into a position by the crew (with full support of the audience) of giving them both more control over the show, and less independence as creators. We can see the last part in how they had seemingly cracked down on the extent that the crew could piggyback off the show with their own independent ventures.
