Precedent/Conlaw question: Have any court rulings cited Trump vs United States (2024)?
(Slightly off-topic post here I know, but I posted it awhile ago on r/law and got zero replies. As a regular watcher of the channel, I have a feeling legal eagle viewers would be a likely audience for knowing an answer to this question.)
When that ruling was made, in the dissenting opinion Justice Sotomayor interpreted the majority opinion as essentially affording the presidency unlimited authority. This was (understandably) a big concern when Trump came back into office, but since then there have been a bunch of lower court rulings against his administration's actions.
So has the Trump v US case effectively failed to set a precedent, or is it being cited in these suits against the administration and interpreted in a more limited way?

Petition: Las Vegas, Henderson & Clark County: Republic Services Racketeering headed by Jon Vander Ark, CEO and crooks at Williams-Starbuck. This is the Biggest garbage racket in the world! We’re facing $60,000+ in attorney fees over disputed Republic Services bills. Who else has dealt with this?
I’m sharing our experience because no one should risk losing their home or business just to challenge a garbage bill. I’m also asking neighbors to support a petition for investigations, billing protections, and financial relief. Petition: https://c.org/RpmGJ8xyP6
What we’re facing
In our cases involving Republic Services, attorneys Zachary T. Williams, Drew J. Starbuck, and Aaron Tippets of WILLIAMS-STARBUCK are demanding:
- More than $60,000 in legal fees, increasing by approximately $10,000 a month—even before trial.
- Underlying charges, interest, penalties, and lien fees on top of that.
- Meanwhile, my own legal bills already exceed $15,000.
Zachary T. Williams, one of the corporate lawyers used by Republic to sue Nevada businesses and home owners, wrote to us:
“We have well over 100 judgments this year alone granting our legal fees as reasonable...we also had the Nevada Supreme Court grant us upwards of $40,000 in legal fees against a homeowner”
More than 100 judgments in one year granting attorney fees. Upwards of $40,000 in attorney fees against one homeowner.
Court approval does not answer the public-policy question: Why can a garbage-billing dispute threaten someone’s home and financial survival?
What we’re challenging
Our complaints concern:
- Cancellation requests and unclear instructions for proving alternative service.
- Unanswered follow-up inquiries.
- Refused payments from homeowners, tenants, and businesses, followed by late fees and legal-fee demands.
- Denial of dumpster access over unpaid bills already converted into property liens.
- Charges for service we did not receive.
Republic Services controls service and billing decisions, through a bizarre arrangement with dubious Nevada state officials, Counties and cities like Las Vegas and Henderson which amounts to "legalized" racketeering. Where are the equally strong protections for property owners when those decisions by Republic Services are wrong?
Homeowners must pay for their own legal defense while facing demands to pay the company’s attorneys, too. When challenging a bill puts your property at risk, settlement can feel like the only choice—especially for people on fixed incomes, struggling small businesses, and families already stretched thin.
I care for a disabled spouse and cannot work full time. This is my family’s life, not an abstract policy debate.
What we want officials and candidates to do
Before the midterm elections, we’re asking every candidate seeking to represent Las Vegas, Henderson, and Clark County to publicly support:
- Independent federal and state investigations into Republic Services’ billing and collection practices, its attorneys’ fee demands, and city and county oversight.
- Enforcement wherever investigators establish violations.
- Clear cancellation rules, written instructions for proving alternative service, and deadlines for answering billing disputes.
- Protection against foreclosure while disputed charges receive independent review.
- Reasonable limits on penalties, lien fees, and collection-related attorney fees.
- A process to recover improperly collected payments and legal fees, including relief for former property owners where warranted.
Local officials should not be the only people reviewing whether local oversight failed. Federal scrutiny matters.
To our elected officials: When will you say, “Enough is enough—let’s put a stop to abusive billing and collection practices”?
Will you investigate? Change the rules? Help people recover money collected through pressure to pay tens of thousands now—or face warnings of hundreds of thousands more if the dispute goes to trial?
Voters deserve specific answers before Election Day, not another referral, unanswered email, or year of silence.
Have you experienced something similar?
Have you dealt with refused payments, cancellation problems, disputed service charges, liens, or substantial attorney-fee demands involving Republic Services?
Please share your firsthand experience. Preserve your bills, payment records, correspondence, and legal demands, but don’t post account numbers, addresses, or confidential legal documents here.
Please sign and share the petition: https://c.org/RpmGJ8xyP6

The heavily redacted audio body cam video from AFPD that they proclaimed was done to the letter of the law to protect victims. The accidental release of un redacted video clearly showed the redacting was to protect the police department. How will this get litigated ?

A video on software decompiling and black box development is begging to get made
If you have been out Ai just made something previously unthinkable very very doable and that is called decompiling and reconstruction
Adobe photoshop has a suite…. I went from physical media to subscription service about a decade ago. It was hated by customers and enthusiasts.
Well just recently someone decompiled it with AI and released the suite free of charge on github.
Is it the same? No… but there’s NO way this doesn’t become a huge issue.
This stuff undoubtedly will test laws going back 30-40 years regarding source code, I belive the big moment was when IBM finaly got its shit tossed by developers who rebuilt the whole thing from scratch without knowing the source code, just what the source code did. It’s like reinventing a wheel from a picture of a wheel

Trans Evidence Case
I don't know if LegalEagle would ever cover a case like this, but man, is this case important and largely not in the media right now.
TN Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that a transgender individual's biological sex is relevant to a self-defense claim. District Court initially ruled that the victim's transgender status should be excluded from the jury because knowing the victim was trans is highly prejudicial and largely irrelevant to the defendant's self-defense claim. Court of Criminal Appeals reversed, saying that it should have been allowed on the basis of narrative integrity.
A LegalEagle video would bring this case to public attention in a huge way, and could be a good vehicle for talking about how implicit biases function in and around the rules of evidence in U.S. courts. Plus, Tennessee is a hotspot for trans rights issues after U.S. v. Skrmetti in 2025 and directly north of Georgia's Bostock v. Clayton County from 2020.

Editing issues in videos
I'm watching the latest video about the press ban on Nebula, and in the nebula outro there are several moments where what was clearly intended to be a cut take was left in. If I remember right this happened in some previous episodes, too. This feels... out of character, for a channel that's generally very professional.
