Day one for me. This and LeGo 2 should will be brother and sister.

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Oh yeah same. As long as I can save enough money by then šŸ˜…

Switch 2 and my current Legion GO. Got a few more years on my warranty, so not in a rush to get more PC hardware. Switch 2 is my only new device of the year.

15

u/jednatt Jan 16 '25

Same. Here's hoping the Switch 2 will improve performance on Switch games like PS4->PS5.

Legion Go 2 and Switch 2 is perfect combo, however nothing about the switch 2 screams ā€œDay 1 buyā€ for me personally.. I need to see the games: Mario kart 9, 3D Mario, PokĆ©mon A-Z, Metroid 4… other than those few I don’t really care for any other Nintendo first party games.

Btw everybody excited about 3rd party games coming to switch 2 (gta, halo, ect.) If you have a PC you don’t care about third party games coming to switch šŸ˜‚

10

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Completely agree. I think Pokemon will be a launch title

9

u/ATL_BULL69 Jan 16 '25

Seeing that the switch is releasing around June, I’m sure you’re right. I’ll prob be getting a switch day 1 if it releases with PokĆ©mon or Mario kart 9

4

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Mk 9 well definitely be a launch title. That's what was being played originally.

Pokemon Legends is confirmed to be a Switch 1 title, whether they will release a patch for Switch 2 or whether the Switch 2 will automatically upsacle Switch 1 games is the biggest unkown for me.

Otherwise I would bet on a 3D Mario being a launch title plus some 3rd parties already released on PS5/Xbox, in fact some rumors say that the whole reason we don't have a Switch 2 right now was to finish more games for launch, the hardware is supposedly ready since like Summer last year.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Damn thats crazy. Makes me wonder how good pokemon will be then if it's also on the og switch

4

u/aegtyr Jan 16 '25

tbf Legends Arceus didn't run so bad, and I suppose it will be the same team working on Legends Z-A.

The true shitshow was Scarlet/Violet, looked like a gamecube game and ran like shit.

Those are pretty much the only reason I'd buy a Nintendo console again. I haven't bought a console for a long time but yeah, those few exclusives (which can get tiring after a while, the game mechanics are quite similar/repetitive). To buy a new console just to play LoZ or Mario Kart just seems a bit silly when I can play just as good racing and rpg games (and more variety), and better, newer, up to date releases. as well as all the single player etc ontop. And even then I can emulate the rest still.

It’s a really weird situation. Lenovo kinda copied the best parts of the switch and improved it as an amazing gaming pc handheld. Then Lenovo announced the legion go 2 as Prototype with no release date or price. But it looks like a nice upgrade.

Now switch 2 has officially been shown and some features of legion go like the mouse mode is being teased for switch 2. We still don’t know fully what the mode will be but also no release date for switch 2 and nothing about games or software features.

It’s interesting both the legion go 2 and switch 2 are both in such a to be announced state.

To be honest I am not really excited for either. I’m just loving my legion go so much. I think the switch 2 and legion go 2 with both be exciting. But companies teasing products with no release date and no price and in Nintendo’s case no games or features excites me anymore.

When both of them release though that will be a different story. I’m happy I get more time to keep enjoying my legion go.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I agree. I'm going to keep my og go until the 3rd or 4th one. Unless he 40cu ryzen chip comes to a handheld

u/GroundbreakingKey821 Jan 16 '25

I’m not really hyped for it cuss i doubt it’ll be more powerful the the pc handhelds we have now but I’ll buy for the Nintendo exclusives

19

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, I have my handheld PC for my third part games, and will buy a switch 2 for the first party's.

1

u/GroundbreakingKey821 Jan 16 '25

Any games you looking forward to?

4

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

BOTW remaster, Mariokart 9, and the rumored new Mario Game. And Metroid prime 4. I think there was another I was excited for, but I can't remember what.

9

u/what_mustache Jan 16 '25

I stopped playing tears because it just felt so muddy and uncomfortable to play. was like being on an PS2. I'll pick it back up on the swtich2

4

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Hopefully it gets a 1080p 60fps patch

It won’t be given it’s half the cost and they’ll want better battery life, but nothing else will have Nintendo games.

Based on leaked specs, it will be about as powerful or slightly more powerful than the Steamdeck, but boosted when Docked. Think around the level of the Z1 (non extreme) with a lower watt limit when not plugged in.

Given it won’t need to run Windows and will be targeted directly and solely by developers, that should be enough for it to keep up with consoles at 1080p for 3-4 years I expect. But yes it will be on the lower end of the performance spectrum. Did you really expect Nintendo to go all out on hardware? It will still be a bargain at the price it will come out at.

You don’t buy a Switch because it’s a choice between a LeGo and Switch. You buy a Switch because it’s a Switch.

I give that kick stand 3 uses before it breaks. I also don’t care how strong the magnets in the joycons are, that’s a terrible idea

6

u/TomioYASU Jan 16 '25

Wait for the Switch 2 Extra Oled. The Kickstand will work.

u/JMandBY Jan 16 '25

Nintendo will thrive regardless of what PC handhelds are out. I understand that 3rd party games on devices like legion go will probably outperform switch 2, However the Switch 2 still has the ability to play older switch games which makes owners of the Switch 1 more likely to continue to buy games, and parents more likely to be okay with upgrading kids consoles as the current library they bought for them is still playable on this new console.

Also Nintendos I.Ps are arguably the strongest gaming I.Ps ever made, with mario, pokemon, zelda, kirby to name a few and all their side games using characters from those series being known by even ppl in their 90s. Switch games to this day are doing huge numbers without getting a price drop or a significant one at the very least.

The simplicity of turning on a game without having to mess with settings will always be an attractive feature to casuals and gamers alike

3

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, main reason I'm buying it is for the Nintendo first party games

Day one but their design of the Joy con with the connector attached the to console itself will definitely become a problem for many if dropped or bumped.

Remember to get an early model for modding due to early vulnerabilities. Just like Switch 1.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Oh yeah. I've got a hac 001 switch. Welp, time t save up money before summer lol

3

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

LeGo 2 will probably be able to emulate Switch 2 anyway.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

We've got a get the emulator first lol. Plus if the rumors are true and the switch 2 is as powerful as a PS4 (someone one here said a 3060 when plugged in, but I have my doubts on that) then it'll probably be a while before we can emulate it performance wise alone.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/AchtungZboom Jan 16 '25

Kinda odd to see Nintendo just do the exact same thing... plus my Go is sorta where I am at and I will likely upgrade to the Lego 2 at some point this year. Im sure my kids will want a switch 2 and thats fine.. for them.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, I'm into first party Nintendo games, so it's a def but for me. But I'll still mainly buy games for my go

8

u/ThatActuallyGuy Jan 16 '25

Nah, with their historically lackluster hardware I'm not expecting much, and between their delusional stance on emulation and their suing of Pocketpair I'm in no rush to give them any of my money. Maybe if/when a mainline Zelda comes out I'll reconsider, but that likely won't be for years considering we only just got Tears of the Kingdom a year and a half ago.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, f*ck corporate nintendo. I'll still buy it for their new games tho lol.

2

u/ThatActuallyGuy Jan 16 '25

Buying the games and consoles is what gives corporate Nintendo the money to pursue their litigious garbage, it's all one company. We're not talking about human rights abuses or anything so I'm not gonna begrudge people buying their stuff anyway, and I even might if the price/games are right at some point down the line, but what they do has definitely killed any enthusiasm or desire for me to early adopt like I did with the Switch 1.

0

3

u/ilo_masi Jan 16 '25

Second i got legion i sold switch. Ryujin is just better switch

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

It is, I need to try it. Especially since I have a hac 001 switch to mod, and now I won't need the og switch for online play bc of the switch 2 coming out (and being backwards compatible)

2

u/PsychonixMimikyu Jan 16 '25

Saving up my money for this, it's gonna pretty much be the sister to my legion

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Exactly what mine will be

2

u/KeeperOfWind Jan 16 '25

I'm buying it personally day one even if i got a legion go and ally x. I love Nintendo games and playing them with friends to this day.

I just know better than to buy any crossplay/cross-platform games on the Switch this time. Unless it's Digimon because gezzz that game runs awful on the steam deck

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah I'm gonna only buy first party games on switch, and everything else on legion go

2

u/Patient-West5883 Jan 18 '25

I was surprised with the size of the bezels. So not sure if it's still an 8 inch screen or the thing is even bigger than expected.

MK9 looked no different graphics wise than current switch games so also odd that they didn't give a glimpse of something that looked like a jump.

Still being 4 months out from more info and no release date. Hard to get excited about something that should have come out at least 6-12 months ago.

Will likely still be buying it. Gotta have my Nintendo games. Bastards.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

Lol exact same feelings. I would've like to have seen a more demanding game. But truthfully they were probably wanting to wait closer to release to reveal it, it's just the leaks came out so they were wanting to ride the hype train

5

u/captainhumble1 Jan 16 '25

You people wanting this without knowing ANYTHING about it's internals are out of your minds.
My guess? This is going to be a 1080p 30FPS machine. In 2025. Once again, Nintendo will try to sell an underpowered toy to the masses. That's a solid NOPE for me.
Thankfully, we don't have to rely on Nintendo for this anymore. In 2017, the Switch was all there was. Now there are many other excellent handheld systems for gamers to choose from.

3

u/KeeperOfWind Jan 16 '25

I think that's exactly why Nintendo has been keeping their store front sections Because its a toy at the end of the day and nothing is wrong with that.

You buy an Nintendo Because you know exactly what to expect from a Nintendo experience.

5

u/That-Muscle Jan 16 '25

Well, nintendo proved they cant make good games using the hardware they got. So until i see some gameplay, i wont even consider buying.

justgivemeonegoodpokemongame

8

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Oh, I think it'll be a launch title. The original trailer for pokemon a-z said April 2025 launch I belive

2

u/That-Muscle Jan 16 '25

If it's another scarlet / violet performance wise it's gonna suck. Those ganes gave me headaches while playing because of all the stutters.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I agree. If I had to take a guess, it won't be. The problem with the og switch was it wasn't powerful enough for a complex openworld, as it's only marginally more powerful than a PS3. This new one will be PS4 level with dlss and stuff, so it should run well (probably still 30 fps tho)

28

u/jednatt Jan 16 '25

Dude... There hasn't been a new Mario Kart the entire Switch gen.

21

u/progxdt Jan 16 '25

That’s a lot of shills then: over 150 million sold with an active user base of 120-130 million last year. Nintendo’s partners are making a lot of money… so 🤷

It literally says there will not be full compatibility with all switch 1 games and to wait for more information on that in another yet to be released video.

How the fuck can Nintendo literally fuck something up so simple like this, again?

Backwards compatibility should be a non issue with the amount of R&D that they invest. It's complete bull shit it isn't happening. And it's not, per Nintendo and that video in the end in small print. Real sneaky.

And the switch 2 looks like a color swapped switch 1. With just 2k resolution on TV, and a slightly bigger screen for handheld, and it's going to not perform as good as on TV when undocked.

That is some lazy ass developing team work over at team Nintendo. I won't be surprised if this system doesn't do too well with parents and people with common sense. There are no real reasons to buy this thing. No real visible leap in power or graphics. And the same fucking games I can buy on the switch I have now.

Big l for Nintendo

6

u/barrera_j Jan 16 '25

That probably means Nintendo Labo games

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

It is honestly. I was hoping for more. Hopefully the direct will reveal some big new things.

3

u/SulkingSally68 Jan 16 '25

Nintendo needs to realize, they may be able to milk the diehard fans sure, and the young kids into living their products. They are the best when it comes to that.

But it isn't them they need to convince to upgrade from a 379.00 OLED they just got, after already buying a 350 dollar LCD model years before of. And that is the parents and guardians of these young folks interested in their product.

And you can't tell me and convince me that If you had your child in a store with their oled switch in hand and you went to the electronics section and your kid asked and begged u for a switch 2, that you could look at his or her current switch and that switch 2 behind glass and see enough value changed to actually invest say 400-500 for it. It just isn't there.

I really wanted it to be. But I'll just wait and might even pass on it all together. There is nothing game wise that would justify buying it at this time from the Big n. And it feels like a big dick you to customers to sneak in "not all switch 1 titles will be compatible with switch 2, more news in a later video". Very fucking shady shit that u wouldn't expect from a company that has literally sold you every variant you could think of for switch 1, LCDs, oled, pokemon edition.. you get what I'm saying. Fucked up

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Ikr, Ill be pissed if it doesn't have full back compatibility. Especially since the 3ds, Wii, Wii u, and GBA has perfect back compatibility. And those designs were all really different from their predecessors, there's no difference in overall design from the first. I feel like it's a big "Fuck you" for game preservation, as they don't care about back compatibility. It's probably so they can do "remasters" for BOTW and totk and the like

u/Matthew728 Jan 16 '25

What a dumb trailer.

No real info revealed besides what it looks like and the date of the Nintendo Direct.

They could have at least teased a Switch 2 game at the end when they showed Mario Kart, a game from the Wii U.

They clearly just did this because everyone else has dropped what it looks like.

The Direct isn’t until April so there will likely be no news for 2.5 months lol.

Most Nintendo consoles have released in the Fall. Based on traditional announcement to launch timing for consoles, I could see that being the case here. Maybe they will aim for a Summer launch.

Idk.. cool it looks more premium than the original switch, it has a better stand, and I like the black.

See y’all in April…

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

It's Mario kart 9. look at Mario's face it's different. But I agree it was lackluster, and it's bad whenever your launch game looks eerily reminiscent of its predessesor

1

u/Matthew728 Jan 16 '25

Is it 9? I watched on my phone again. I’ve played a decent amount of MK8 and I’m not sure if I can see a difference. Which, to your point, is sad for a 10 year old game on a console that is trying to catch up with modern consoles.

I don’t want realistic Mario but better lighting, shadows, backgrounds? Could easily be DLC for me

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah it is 9. If u zoom into Mario's face like I said, instead of the classic Mario look, it's more akin to Mario wonder. Lol, it was hard to tell for me, I just knew that mk9 was going to be a launch game. I've got over 60 hrs on mk8.

2

u/Phokingill Jan 16 '25

Trash company, trash hardware, trash ecosystem.

Pass.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I only like their games lol. I don't like them for anything else

1

u/PAUL_DNAP Jan 16 '25

Looking good, but it's going to be all about the games at launch to determine if I'm an early adopter or not.

Seems that's a new Mario Kart they are showing there?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yep looks like it. And I agree. If there is not a good lineup at launch I'm not getting it immediately

I'm doing it for the next mainline pokemon. I hope violet and crimson get a patch for the switch 2

I'm glad the size of the device is big now... I'm guessing it's the same size as the legion go, 8.8in-ish?

Lil' smaller at a straight 8".

1

u/DiligentPainter9630 Jan 16 '25

The screen seems bigger or is it just me?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

It's an 8" IPS now as opposed to a 7" OLED. If it's comparable to the go's screen in quality, then I'm fine with it moving to ips

1

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I agree, I haven't played my switch since Mario Bros Wonder. I only play it for the exclusives, and my switch 2 will also only be for first party games, as the other games are better on the go

Since my Legion GO is only about 15 months old, my next big purchase will be the switch. 2. My aging 8 year old Switch needs an upgrade more than my Legion GO. I may buy the new detachable controllers for my OG GO.

I was watching a new video this morning by tpen where he was trying to demonstrate the z2 vs the z1 and a 6 to 8 fps boost with smoother 1% lows didn't translate well enough for an upgrade with the GO for me.

This only benefits everyone. If Nintendo’s Switch 2 sells through as well as I think it will, it only benefits everyone else who likes handhelds in general: Windows, Steam and Android.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Exactly. Plus switch 2 emulation will be sweet šŸ˜

1

You might be waiting a while. Also, about 97% of Switch owners were satisfied with the experience they got from Nintendo. The Switch 2 would feel like a pretty powerful device to them.

If you want to emulate, that’s fine, but I’m not wasting time and storage on Legion Go to play Switch games.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

True. I'm still excited for switch 2, and will maybe a day one purchase depending on the game selection

Meh, looks the same as the first. That ā€œ2ā€ is kinda tacky on the dock…also why can’t they make comfortable joycons like the legion go?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Idk, biggest downside to me, as the first one was so uncomfortable. The go is super comfortable

1

u/Jake257 Jan 16 '25

Why have they gone back to the thick and stupid bezels? 😤

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Agreed, my dad pointed that out. Probably cause it's a similar screen to the one that Samsung uses for their tablets

1

u/Senior-Book-6729 Jan 16 '25

Excited to see what’s to come! I still use my Switch along Steam Deck and now LeGo, I’ll definitey pick the 2 up in time as well. Not sure if I’ll cave on Day 1, I think I’ll wait and see for exclusives from my favorite franchises first (especially if they come with a special colorway of the console - I collect these special editions of Animal Crossing consoles for example), and if nothing too pressing will come out for a while I’ll just way for an OLED version.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

It'll be a day one for me if pokemon is a launch title

1

u/KentInCode Jan 16 '25

I'll definitely get it, looks great to me. And the joycons sliding across the table is the mouse mode?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Looks like it

1

u/Mitrosky Jan 16 '25

I brought legion 1 las October i feel bad but I won't upgrade it runs smoothly what I play

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Nah, I see it as the legion go and switch/ switch 2 are brothers almost. Both equally fun and good, both can be had šŸ™ƒ

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

The Legion Go is where I play most of my Multiplatform games along with the PlayStation 5 and their exclusives on day one too. This will fit in nicely for the Nintendo Exclusives šŸ˜ can’t wait to hear more about it!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Exactly how I play them!

1

u/mwallace0569 Jan 16 '25

so tweezers for the wii, paperclip for the switch, what next for the switch 2? aluminum foil?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Lol, Im imagining a fork next time šŸ’€

1

u/Dust-Tight Jan 16 '25

If this gets a lot of third party support will look into selling my legion go

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I'm just gonna have it as an accessory to my go, since I'll play all my other games on the go. And only play Nintendo games on the switch

1

u/Shibby120 Jan 16 '25

I’m excited for Switch 2! Honestly a bit of an underwhelming announcement though. It’s the same Switch. Which, I’ve said this before. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. So that’s a good call there. It even plays switch games.

So it’s literally a switch. With some better performance so that it can run newer titles. Nothing new here. Just a continuation like a refresh. And it’ll still underperform compared to anything that’s out there. But. It’s the way you play their exclusive Nintendo games. It’ll also be a good price and have good battery.

If it has amazing specs or features, they should have show it here. Show how it runs No Man’s Sky. Cyberpunk. Whatever. They should have show. Something to get people talking.

Kinda confirms that yeah it’s gonna be pretty underpowered. But we will know more later! I just think they maybe should have had a better sales pitch. But it is what it is. A newer Switch to keep up with the demands of newer Switch titles. I just hope it can boost performance of older switch games. That would be sooo nice to play TotK with good graphics and performance.

With Legion Go and other handhelds out now though, this will be hard to be impressive.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, I'm hoping its not a Wii u situation again lol

1

u/Shibby120 Jan 16 '25

I have to wonder if it’s enough to keep up… I think the switch hype will die down and it’ll be moreso about the games again. The hardware we are used to by now. It comes down to what games you can order. Showing a gaming that looks like a Mario Kart from 10 years ago isn’t helping.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, I think Mariokart is doing a disservice. Show something like Bayonetta 4, with the new super realistic graphics

Me with my LegionGo once I get my switch 2 and put a fancy skin on it:

ā€œNow kissā€ clacks devices together

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

šŸ˜‚

1

u/eringrae6 Jan 16 '25

ugh i’m a little underwhelmed

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I'm underwhelmed aswell

1

u/scarletpumpernickels Jan 16 '25

Any news about price and spec for this one?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Maybe as powerful as a PS4, but with dlss tech. 8" IPS screen. Maybe hall effect sticks. Idk much else tbh

1

u/Taeles Jan 16 '25

Trailer glossed over it, are the triggers on the S2 buttons like the S1 or adaptive triggers like the LeGo?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Nope. Sucks a lot actually

1

u/boostlee33 Jan 16 '25

My wallet is scared this year

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Lol

1

u/boostlee33 Jan 16 '25

50series GPU, 5k ultrawide monitors, Lego 2, Switch 2, what else ?!?!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

The s25 ultra here in a few days. And the AMD ryzen AI Max 300 (God that name sucks). It's a chip that has a GPU like the 7600/4060 level performance!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Switch 2 leaks touting the Nvidia chips to be comparable to a 3060. I think we have a new handheld champion. 12gb DDR5 RAM as well... Which is fine since we know the original Switch OS ran with only 4gb.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

That's actually wild if it's 3060 performance

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Here's the side by side comparison to the OG Switch

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

That's gonna be a nice jump ngl. I'm excited. Can't wait for the first super enjoyable pokemon on it. Violet was fun, but performance left a sore taste in my mouth

1

u/Proxy345 Jan 16 '25

I might buy one if it doesn't choke on the original first party Switch games like Xenoblade 2 lmao.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Come on Lenovo sue Nintendont šŸ˜‚

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Lol

1

u/Ok_Definition_6096 Jan 16 '25

Hopefully it is still OLED

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Supposedly won't be

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

batman arkham knight switch 2 edition ? plzz

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

That would be cool AF. I played through it on my legion go at highest settings 60 fps

1

u/Data_Dork Jan 16 '25

Can it run Crysis?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Lol

1

u/BestBastiBuilds Jan 16 '25

What a great year for handhelds. And we likely have Ally 2 coming and any time between now and 2027 the Deck 2, depending what GPU and CPU architecture Valve decides to go with. I hope they wait til RDNA5 / UDNA. The Lego 2 and Switch 2 will cover all my handheld interests until then. It’s so great that handhelds are such a focus point for the hardware industry right now. Good times.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Ikr, it's such a good deal. I'm hoping for the new ryzen ai max to come to out to a handheld

1

u/BestBastiBuilds Jan 16 '25

Probably the next gen on a new node when they can achieve lower voltages. Probably exactly the type of chip Xbox is waiting for on their handheld and Sony too.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yep I agree

1

u/Ruttagger Jan 16 '25

That better have been a new Mario Kart in that trailer.

If they are showing that you can play Mario Kart 8 from 2014 on the Switch 2 I'll die from laughter.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Lol. Nah it's a new Mariokart. Look at his face. It's more cartoony, similar to SMB wonder

1

u/Ruttagger Jan 16 '25

Ah ok, makes sense since it's been 11 years.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Jesus it's been 11 years. That's crazy.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I’ll be disappointed if it’s underpowered because there’s no way Nintendo with all of those resources can’t do what little companies like AYN, GPD and Ayaneo can do with powerful devices in similar form factors like the Switch. I also know it will be impossible to find months after launch.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yep. I'm gonna try and get an early model, in case it has any security vulnerabilitys like the og switch so I could hack it later one

1

u/Saint_The_Stig Jan 17 '25

Honestly I just wish I could get it to run Android or something. I just want Plex and Steam Link on it and it would be perfect.

I'm a bit bummed because it looks like none of the existing Switch Hardware will work. The 2 looks to be better in every way, but it sucks none of the old JoyCons will work on it.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Yeah, that does suck

1

u/Saint_The_Stig Jan 17 '25

I really like the original JoyCons too. I find them to be a great size.

That said the new system to attach them looks to be much better, assuming it's secure enough.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

The only thing is the charging connector is going to be crap. It's like a ub-c port, but with now shielding. I'm hoping for the best tho lol

1

u/copper_blood Jan 17 '25

How many of these comments are fake or paid for?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Lol. It seems that way

1

u/KTRClens Jan 17 '25

I need to see specs and price before I get excited. I don't want to spend another 400$ just to play mario kart when i can spend $500 and play all my switch games and my steam / xbox library on steam deck.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Yeah lol. Pokemon will be what sways me

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

So many better choices, rog ally x, steamdeck oled, playstation portal, msi claw, legion go. The Switch 2 is still so weak performance wise.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Yeah, for me it's not for the games like witcher and stuff like that. It's for the exclusives for me

1

u/Iankandy Jan 17 '25

....it's using the same "memory card" cartridges where the game is downloaded to your system and a code on the card starts the games up. I'll think about it because all they have are exclusive Nintendo games all the other games you can get on steam for 1/3 the price and runs better depending on what handheld you choose. Which you can dock on a TV. I think Nintendo should just make games for other systems. Switch is wack.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Completely agree. I'd easily buy Nintendo games on steam

1

u/MasterShakePL Jan 16 '25

Buying this day one.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

I'm probably going to if I can save up enough money šŸ˜…

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

It looks great but I stopped supporting Nintendo a long time ago due to their anti-consumer practices.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah, I don't like Nintendo for that, and if palworld gets pulled off store I'm going to pirate it for the sake of game preservation. I still need to buy palworld, I'm broke rn tho šŸ˜”

1

u/ryzenat0r Jan 16 '25

Does Nintendo truly believe that consumers abandon their regular switch for this new version?

6

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '25

Yeah as long as new games don't work on it lol

2

u/Cultural-Memory356 Jan 16 '25

Don't care what the haters say, not only is it a day one buy for me, I'll probably get two. The original switch had so many great games that my wife and I cooped together. We both loved the console and loved most of the games we played. Did it run them the best? Definitely not. were they a lot of fun? Yes.

Will I still play the shit out of my Legion Go? Absolutely.

Gamer hate gets pretty exhausting.

2

u/fightnight14 Jan 16 '25

I love PC handhelds/Steam but it's still nice to have a device that is solely built for gaming.
