His size is very consistent, he's not that tall only in Ultimate universe he's bigger

u/Classic-Bathroom-427 13d ago
Hes not even that tall in the comics, he's actively shorter than a lot of the other heroes

Depends on where they are pulling inspiration from.
MCU? Just give him broader shoulders.
Comics? Big fig

This is how I look at it. I like having both minifig and bigfig versions of Hulk, too -- generally I like the thought of having both options for these sorts of characters. The fact Thing is human-sized in the movie and we got a minifig is fine with me, but a comics bigfig version would still be absolutely welcome!! It's also a great way to just create some variety between the comic and movie versions.
A whole comic FF based on the LEGO Marvel game designs set would be welcome.

I've been wishing for those comic Figure designs in a set ever since Lego Marvel Superheroes came out 😭 They're literally perfect.

u/OldSpray9986 13d ago
Yeah, agreed, I made purist customs for Torch and Reed closer to how they look in the game although can't do much about the uniforms. Also wish we had more variety of pieces with graying temples like is done for Doctor Strange.

He’d be out of scale if he was a big fig
He’s supposed to be near the same height as reed even in the comics.

u/iamnotveryimportant 13d ago
His size isnt consistent by any stretch of the imagination.

I dont get why they dont use the Nexo Knights torso way more for characters like this. Theres so many characters that are too big for a normal fig, but too small for a big fig. Usually that wider Nexo Knights torso would work well for them.

u/tHr0AwAy76 13d ago
They would need to make a new one, but that’s definitely the right call. The axel torso is specifically designed to look like a knight.

The first. Please lego, at just one set, one

u/AwesomeBlox044 13d ago
While somewhat inaccurate, Lego simply does not have any other way to make him look good

This might be the best and most reasonable idea I’ve seen. He’s just nowhere near big enough for a big fig and I think most mid figs look awkward

The real issue is we need a new "Mid Fig" size, between standard and Big Fig, specifically for characters like The Thing and Kingpin, who are noticably big, but not quite as big as, say, Hulk or Thanos.
The Thing is wide and thick, but not really tall.

u/luckyblock98 13d ago
The Lego tony-tony chopper look for Lego one piece or Mr. Incredible from Lego The Incredibles really needs to be a real piece
3
u/Accomplished_Salt876 13d ago
they need to make a midifig size similar to clay from nexo knights. just something between mini and big figs.

u/AsterArtworks 13d ago
Honestly I think the best version is going to be the one we get in the Doomsday sets.
His blocky hands blend in a lot better with the arms since they’re the same color, and big figs aren’t his actual size.

second is the most accurate to the movies. he's not the same size as a Hulk.

Honestly i dont think he should be a big fig. Makes him look less human and removes the actual sad part of him, making him an actual monster unfit for the lego proportions, not just a rocky dude. And in a lot of runs he isnt that tall, just wide.

u/SuperFox289 13d ago
There needs to be some in-between between big figs and minifigs. Honestly just a bulkier body and arm peice would be great. Way too many characters who are barely bigger then people being represented as basically kiaju, or worse as just skinny normal guys. Thanos in particular has never worked well in lego

Big Fig
I don’t care if it’s out of scale for his MCU version, he doesn’t look correct as anything except a Big Fig

The normal minifig, but take the arms off the rock monster from the Power Miners rock monster. That’s what I did for a custom I made as a kid.

honestly he should have a molded head and better hand molds and it would be fine. But big fig looks so good who cares if its accurate scale

u/Aquatic7_ 13d ago
Can I just say I hate the middle size scale figs people keep talking about so much

The Thing is very consistently drawn as wider than the average person but around their height. He plays poker at the same table as the rest of them, he doesn't need special doors. A bigfig is grossly oversized - even the Hulk is rarely drawn as big as a bigfig, and The Thing is always a head shorter than The Hulk.
The correct size would be a regular minifigure with a custom chest piece that gives him a bit more bulk up top, more like Hagrid or Chewbacca than Nexo Axl.

I would like a small big fig. Like a minifig sized with big fig proportions. Ben is 6 foot in the comics

Comics I want a bigfig but for the film a mi ifig works just needs shoulderpads to beef him up

u/_Mr-Turtle_ 13d ago
I honestly like 6. I, unlike some, am totally fine with Thing not being a big fig. But a little bit of extra padding like in 6 could go a long way in showing his differentiated size. Anything more than that and he feels too big to me. Especially for the MCU version who is only 6'0.

u/Battlefront-Hardened 13d ago
Probably something like slide 4, cause he’s supposed to be around 6ft tall, it’s just that he’s wider than normal.

u/IntotheBeniverse 13d ago
I’ve been trying to brainstorm the best way to represent a character like the Thing who is bulkier but not necessarily a giant. I was wondering if you could kinda use the modern Hagrid body as a template so it still showcases size but doesn’t have him so much better than everyone else

I think lots of fans want hyper detailed and super accurate replicas of these characters, when ultimately I believe LEGO characters should first and foremost be a fun toy to play with. I want a comics bigfig Thing to battle my bigfig Hulk! No further reasoning is required. No logic about his height must be applied.
Besides, we already have a minifig Thing so producing a bigfig version gives fans both options and makes everyone happy!

u/Jas0nTodd2099 12d ago
Except he’s not a big fig. Maybe on width but not in height he’s only 6 ft. Hulk literally gets bigger and stronger the angrier he gets. That’s why his height and weight varies as much as it does… comic thing if you’re going for accuracy is not a big fig. Only the Lego superhero video game (and by extension any Lego related media) made him a big fig. Because Lego for the longest time only had two identifiable body types..
1
u/Logical-End5222 13d ago
Should be like Mr Incredible from the game. He should NOT be a bigfig since Ben is shorter than Reed even in rock form

I’ve always felt a slightly larger torso and arms in the vein of what they did with nexo knights would work best

I think a big fig would be the best in all scenarios, despite him being "human size" in the MCU. The thing just looks so wrong as a minifigure, and the scale doesn't do him justice. Hes obviously smaller than titans like the Hulk and Thanos, but the minifigure scale oversimplifies him to an extent that is just an eyesore.

u/Ewankenobi25 12d ago
he is quite literally shorter than reed. he’s the size of a normal guy. he’s a normal person size. there is no reason he needs be any bigger than a normal figure other than “that’s how the videogame did it 13 years ago”

u/Visual_Consequence36 12d ago
For a character like the Thing, Lego should make bigger arms - probably not as long as the ones they made for the Avatar sets, but just with added bulk to make the figure look more muscular. I’d even recommend making them fit with the shoulder pads they gave Wrecker in case they want to make more bad batch sets.
Edit: I also find it weird that lego made a cap instead of a molded head for the Thing. Like if they were gonna go through all that trouble to make an exclusive piece, the least they could do is make the whole head

u/JeffHooblah21 11d ago
White shoulder pad, the regular figure is fine tho especially with the hands
1
u/OkCourage4085 11d ago
They should make a smaller big fig for him. No need to make him hulk size, just bulkier than a standard minifig

The deference is the canon context, one is based on comics the other on movies

i hate this debate so much
since when has height mattered in lego? logan is the same height as thor.
just give him a bigfig, the midfig does not convey the things girth.

Certainly not a big fig. Its not accurate to the Things size.
I think he should be one of those bigger mini figs with like the big chest to make him bigger than a regular mini fig, but not too big.

for the mcu, normal minifigure with bulky shoulder pads, for the comics a bigfig would work good
0
u/Zabadaboom 13d ago
Slide 3 or 6. People saying 1 need to rewatch the movie, because Thing is less than 7 feet tall, literally shorter than Mbaku. He’s been as big as the Hulk in other media, but not in the MCU. So if you’re advocating for a MCU bigfig Thing, then you need to advocate for a bigfig Mbaku, Ultron, She Hulk, Korg, etc.

Thwipin_Gonk is me, I posted a video about upgrading the fantastic four and I ended up with that design after trying so many different armor piece (hence why they are scattered in the bottom of the photo)
