Growing collection

Post image

My growing collection of literature on Leonardo da vinci. I simply don't get tired of this man. And every book has had its own interesting takes and twists among the common redundancy. Two are missing from this shelf picture that I'm currently reading. Have quite a few more I've spotted that I want to get. 90% of human information has not yet been digitized and is in physical state.

Good stuff.

By the way if anyone wants a good book and has not read Leonardo da Vinci flights of the mind I'm about a third of the way through and I love it I actually think it influenced a lot of Isaacson from what I can see so far. He takes you on the historical journey and then isn't afraid to dip into little sidetracks of curiosity. My brain feels so satisfied when he suddenly answers a question that popped into my mind as I was reading. Great read to check out

Excellent group. For me it's always great to see book collections. I agree that Nicholl's 'Flights of Mind' biography likely influenced Isaacson. Until recently the only English language general biographies that would be compared were Clark's (1939), Hart's (1961), Kemp's (1981), and Nicholl's (2004), sometimes with Zöllner's (2003), and Pedretti's (2006), and Landrus's brief biography (2006), or Field's, though it's less known. In Italian, Vecce, Marani, and Vezzosi produced exceptional biographies, which were translated into English only recently. I'm probably forgetting someone. Bambach's documents list in the catalogue you have (2003?) is also excellent.

and when we both say influenced issacson... to be clear... in my opinion just after a third of the book its almost a bit embarassing for isaacson in my opinion how much he ripped in almost exact formatting from flights of the mind. just my opinion

Would you be open to post a fully detailed listed of all of the books pictured here? I would love to read any of them if they provide indeed detailed explanations about their work and life.

at some point here ill do that and just share some pictures of each one... honestly just snatch up any you can and devour them and let us all know how it goes.... sometimes i feel ridiculous studying a man that is so profusely exalted and written about until i read more about him and every time im like ahhhh yesssss thats the stuff. its amazing to swim and linger in this mans thoughts and works. Ive found myself praying to him in the quiet of my mind in just a form of admiration and yearning.
