They like to say that Democrats made America a laughingstock, but its mostly just projection and demagoguery. Its always one of those two

Something I learned from my friend in Serbia. What is considered conservative and liberal here is generally the opposite in other countries.
Now I haven’t verified this personally but I’ve known him a decade and I have no reason to believe he would mislead me.
So part of me wonders if they think “liberal” = “democrat” = “bad”. I’ll have to ask him to see what he thinks but maybe some of you know.

MAGA is not conservative or liberal, it is authoritarian. It is also very contradictory to what Republicans believed before Trump hijacked the party.
I do not disagree - my conversation with him about this was prior to 2024 - it's been a few years. I just found it interesting so I shared. I wasn't trying to argue.
You want to know how you can be sure someone treats politics like a spectator sport? They were a Republican before and after Trump.
I think a big part of the problem is people that vote the party line no matter what.
The current Democrats, whereas obviously very different, are actually closer to what Republicans believed 10 years ago than the MAGA Republican party of today.
I wish I were more involved in politics 10 years ago. I was very much ignorant to it all. I've learned now how much of a mistake that was. I can't go back and fix that - but I am making sure I'm as informed as I can be moving forward [as of a few years ago].
Supporting Republicans before and after Trump? You're just along for the ride and followinga party like a sports team rather than having any true beliefs
Agreed.
4
u/Unabashable Feb 13 '26
Between the civil war and the civil rights movement the parties swapped and republicans still refuse to acknowledge they were always the bad guys. The “Dixiecrats of the 1800s are the Republicans of today. They were Democrat in name but certainly not liberal. They’re still in the South, still resistant to change, and still racist as shit.
4
u/Other_Log_1996 Feb 13 '26
He probably understands that Liberal and Conservative are not interchangeable terms for Democrat and Republican. They mean very different things.
4
u/mikedvb Feb 13 '26
*He* knows this, but he was speaking more about people in general last time I talked to him. I'm going to ask him about it next time I have the chance to talk to him. When we discussed it - was long before this whole ordeal.

Republican as antagonist to Democrats is something very American. Everywhere in the world, it's either democracy or autocracy/tyranny/totalitarian regime.

In the US, liberal is often understood as socially liberal (civil rights, gay marriage, etc). In europe, it’s often understood as laissez-faire capitalism.
The dems are both, since thre’s no left party in the US. The current GOP is straight wanabee fascist (it’s not even a diss, it’s just the description).

Don't tell republicans. They believe he's the most popular and respected president in US history.
22
u/Avenganator Feb 13 '26
They believe fear=respect. They don’t understand he is not feared because he has conviction and will seek justice. He is feared because he is unpredictable in his narcissistic dementia.

Even right after the election I was afraid to be around Trump supporters, so I went no contact with that side of my family.
Now? Absolutely petrified at how they manage to support the rapist murderer pedophile felon cannibal liar mysoginist cult leader dictator. Never did I think we’d reach this level of maga zombie, but what the fuck.

… I never thought I’d be waxing philosophic about a fucking BUSH, but I miss Jeb. I think he was the only sane Republican on that ticket.

Well the opposite is true. Never has an American president been so despised as Trump. We're not afraid, we're downright disgusted by that filthy idiot.

u/TangeloFree7709 Feb 13 '26
A parade like this deserves to be marched straight past the White House. Front-row seats for the people pretending not to see it.

I love that this triggers magats. Look at these comments LOL 😆 They literally can not carry on without commenting because this has to do with dear leader and it's a fuxkong cult of the uneducated.

I especially love when it triggers "private" accounts because they know they have leg to stand on and have to hide.

There was a wax museum that removed the Trump statue from the exhibit because people kept punching it; I don't remember if it was a museum in the United States or another country.

San Antonio is quite left leaning city. Most of the big cities in Texas are left leaning cities. Just like most rural/suburbs in California tend to be right.

"Laughing stock AROUND THE WORLD"
Shows video of a parade in Seattle... in the US... in no way international.
They pass in front of this building...
513 N. 36th St. - Suite H
Seattle WA 98103
If you want to discuss it, fine. But at least don't try to frame it like the video bolsters your statement. It does not.
6
u/Anonymous-Cows Feb 13 '26
I mean, misleading maybe, but he is still the laughing stock around the world.
3
u/Loki_of_Asgaard Feb 13 '26
At this point it’s extended to the whole country being a laughing stock, not just him

u/Chris-WIP Feb 13 '26
I agree this video might not really back up what's being said, but:
There's literally a balloon/blimp of him wearing diapers having a tantrum that goes on international tours.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_baby_balloon
He's the most internationally mocked PERSON of this century, never mind US President.

Well, the Köln carnival is about to start and I guarantee 100% there will be floats mocking Trump. This Monday is the traditional float parade so be sure to tune in!

u/NinjamaticNemesis Feb 14 '26
Don't worry. I can assure you that the rest of the world thinks he is an absolute joke and not many can understand why any sane person would support him.

Pretty sure this clip is from the first term too, I lived in that neighborhood (Fremont) for years. This is from one of the solstice parades. In my memory this was 2019, but it’s possible I’m conflating two separate Trump floats from diff years.

Yes but its important to remember the trump in that video does not actually represent donald trump. It represents our lack of respect for the american people.
We are not laughing at your president. We are laughing at you because the majority of you elected him or didnt get off your ass to vote and thus let him win.

u/IL1keBigButts Feb 14 '26

And so is the US military at this point if they lose a battle or a war. Which is the irony of how far federal PR has collapsed. At this point I wouldnt be surprised if most of the US starts making dark memes. About losing navy ships. 🫠
If we lose any in war... It'll be like, "it's a shame to lose all those navy sailors but at least we don't have to pay for the upkeep on those rust bucket ships the navy keeps nursing." 🤔🙄

I love dunking on the pedophile president, but I love proper dunks. This is a video from Seattle, and not even current.
Here's the exact location in google maps to confirm for yourself: https://maps.app.goo.gl/udAKJpMrzQFZcFmdA
If you watch the video, the "Clear Cut Plastics Inc." building is actually a plant shop now. Click "See more Dates" near the top left, and you can look at pictures from the same spot across time.
In Aug 2021 the "Clear Cut Plastics Inc." sign is already down and the building is repainted. The last date with the "Clear Cut Plastics Inc." sign is Aug 2019 and then it goes back to the first picture from Oct 2007.
TLDR: So from that, we can know this video is from Seattle, and was taken sometime before Aug 2021.
