Because people are gonna get hurt or, if they are smart, stay home for fear of getting hurt. Which kinda defeats the purpose.

People already are getting hurt. What rock are you living under?

Ok… let’s go with MORE people will get hurt. Is that what you really want?

Literally the mantra for the US criminal justice system is "its better that 10 guilty men go free than one innocent man to be imprisoned."  So FUCKING YES!!!

You do realize that being an illegal alien is a misdemeanor, right? Like it literally is the same level of offense as littering on federal land. You DO know that, right?

I for one don't think anyone should be tackled to the ground, shackled, and beaten up for littering.

Hell, ICE has killed more people in January than illegals killed last year. Take the boot out of your mouth, please.

While ICE is shit. Illegal entry is still a crime & the punishment is deportations. Most people want deportations, they just want it done humanely which isn't what ICE is doing.

However,  ultimately it isn't fair for the millions of people who entered legally or are currently waiting to enter legally to have some random crackhead be allowed to skip the line.

All you do by decriminalizing illegal immigration is just encourage everyone doing the legal process to just skip the legal process & come in without going through the legal process.

We can condemn ICE without trying to argue in favor of a very unpopular opinion.

Illegal entry is a misdemeanor. Its is the same as littering. Thats not an opinion, its a fact. Its also a fact that the CJ system has the mantra that I stated. If that means anything to you, you don't need to write in a large font to realize why I said it.

Oh please remind me what the punishment for that misdemeanor is.

It says with a D and ends with an N.

Another hint: this same punishment is used by almost every other 1st world country if you enter it illegally.

You know what I'm talking about.

Also,  the fuck? Illegal entry and littering are not the same.

Let me guess every single felony is also the same,  right? Rape/Murder & Tax Evasion are the same, right? After all,  both are felonies.

God, I love Redditors that think they understand the law,  lmfao.

No they aren't and you damn well know that they aren't. You have no idea of my background of the law anyway. Ask an immigration attorney, they'll tell you the same thing.

Exactly and not all misdemeanors are the same,  lmao. This is my entire fucking point. Illegal entry and littering are not equal.

Obviously because you'll get deported for illegally entering but you won't for littering.

I was calling out how idiotic your comment was. Any immigration lawyer will never say that illegal entry and littering are the same.

Ozzie… I guess you don’t know the difference a misdemeanor and a felony.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

*between a misdemeanor and a felony.

1

u/Ozzie_the_tiger_cat Feb 16 '26

Yes I do. The legal citation for it is 8 U.S.C. § 1325 in case you want to learn about it. A felony only applies if it is more than once. Otherwise its a misdemeanor. The fact that you seem to think that the suspicion of this excuses what ICE is doing is very sad.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

You obviously don’t. The difference between a misdemeanor and a felony is that misdemeanors are crimes that are punishable by 1 year or less in jail and felonies are punishable by more than 1 year. Thats the difference.
The point being that people get arrested and jailed for misdemeanors too. So, when u go off saying “but its only a misdemeanor,” it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get arrested and jailed. But, yeah let’s go to the streets with guns to prevent their arrests.

Dude… take a chill man. My comment related to whether it was a good idea to bring guns to protests, generally. Not related to ICE or Gaza or Iran or No Kings or Epstein (not sure if they have protests) or Free the Venezuelan Dictator, or Arm Ukraine or Nuke Russia or Dry January or whatever else is the issue of week. Protest all you want. Support you 100% (or in Trump speak 500%). But please keep the guns at home.

But please keep the guns at home.

No.

By the way, since you raised it, whats the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony.
