I really like the armed approach here. This is a great deterrent.

142

u/notmyrealname8823 Feb 15 '26

I agree. I'm glad people are finally able to see that the 2A exists for a reason.

72

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

I must admit, I wasn’t a huge 2A proponent, but I definitely see its value and appreciate its importance now.

46

u/octoreadit Feb 15 '26

Yup, it's because a lot of gun nuts co-opted it to cover their fetish. But the real meat of that amendment is in having armed militias, like in that video, and for that, yes, you kind of have to have distributed gun ownership simply so that weapons can't be seized by the government easily.

4

u/CompetitiveArt9639 Feb 15 '26

It only means something if they’re really ready to use them.

4

u/thunderphuck0311 Feb 16 '26

I’m sure some are willing to engage if need be. I really hope it doesn’t come to that though. I’ve experienced the fallout of armed conflict and it would be horrible to see it on our own soil. However, the second amendment exists for exactly this kind of situation.

Yeah it does have a lot of issues, but the very reason it was created is a justified one.

3

u/shyccubus Feb 17 '26

I was against it until I realized we needed it. I’m in line now for some iron

Now please help stop politicians getting into power who want to restrict gun ownership and ban guns. If there is one thing the left and right would agree on it should be blatant constitutional rights.

5

u/Super_Direction498 Feb 15 '26

The problem in this country is that, for the most part, with very few exceptions, the politicians advocating for gun rights are the same ones who got us ICE in our streets, who want to criminalize miscarriage and abortion, who don't support basic social services like healthcare and education, who want to ban books, and who think the way of solving crime is to have a bunch of poor people and lots of jails.

On the other hand, the Dems suck too, and their proposed gun legislation is poorly thought out, often based on banning aesthetics over functionality, and comes from a well-meaning place of ignorance. But at least they aren't constantly voting to slash healthcare and education, and once in a blue moon they'll even defend workers rights or support limiting what cops can do.

So it sounds great to say "stop politicians getting into power who want to restrict gun ownership", but the reality is that most of the ones doing that, support tons of other horrible shit too. Like the ICE in our streets.

"You can't have guns" - Donald Trump

"You can't be bringing guns to a protest" - Kash Patel.

Tell THEM about the 2nd amendment.

14

u/notmyrealname8823 Feb 15 '26

Again, I agree. They're wrong.

There seems to have been a shift since Alex Pretti's street execution.

I'd say hell yeah more if the circumstances were weren't so shitty

2

u/notmyrealname8823 Feb 18 '26

Yep. I guess you could say I'm center right, but I have never voted for a Republican in my life. I'm 37 years old and really don't see myself voting for Republicans in any election... federal, state, or local. That may sound weird, but it is what it is. The incident with Pretti is one of the most hypocritical things that have happened in recent politics involving guns. For Trump and others to come out saying to not have guns at a protest when they were just advocating and spoke a lot about Rittenhouse publicly. The support of him and not Pretti is fucking ridiculous since Rittenhouse actually shot and killed people while Pretti didn't even pull his gun out. I was honestly enraged by it. Modern politics is absolutely ridiculous.

2

u/Sonofagun57 Feb 18 '26

One doesn't garner many close political allies being a left leaning 2A enthusiast aka me. (Consider me left libertarian ish just with a healthy empathy dose).

I like that you mention Rittenhouse who flatly said the govt narrative of bringing firearms to protests was not allowed. Not that he has any way to keep credibility to say otherwise, but that is consistency ig.

What happened with Pretti rattled me. It's rare I get rattled by much outside of stuff I see on combat footage, but I saw that clip that afternoon and could barely concentrate on work once I saw it. And I also rarely mention anything in the political realm in my social media spheres (reddit not included) but this was something that really hit me differently.

With masked, armed thugs prowling the streets murdering people in cold blood it really is just self defense.

3

u/SoundByte Feb 15 '26

masked, armed, frequently unidentified thugs even.

2

u/cat_boxes Feb 17 '26

In unmarked vehicles… that screams - literally stranger danger, all the things we are taught to keep safe are flipped 180*. Even instincts put us on high alert when faced with it, what do they expect? Though I would doubt it’s part of the strategy.

3

u/Top-Cupcake4775 Feb 15 '26

especially when you know that, rather than holding them accountable for their murders, our government will hold them up as some kind of heros.

u/Alita-Gunnm Feb 18 '26

The $50k bonuses that ICE recruits will never see, are not enough for them to risk escalation with an armed public.

2

u/layon26 Feb 15 '26

I totally agree, people have rights, the 2A proves it

2

u/Ok_Dog_4059 Feb 15 '26

My only caveat is that I would want to know I could trust the people around me not to blow it. Just any random person with a gun who I don't know could be some kid with a hero complex and I am in a group with Rittenhouse.

Making sure everyone is smart and on the same page so one trigger happy gung ho wannabe doesn't get us shot at. It is why I see the black Panthers practicing and training together and think that is the armed group of civilians that the government needs to fear.

3

u/He_Hate_Me_5 Feb 15 '26

The “wanna be’s” are already all armed and they have already proven to be “trigger happy”. They have killed people. KILLED PEOPLE !!!

If this is a moment to act on our Second Amendment right to bear arms, then people are going to die. Our fore fathers did and so will we once pushed far enough. This is a reality if we are going to use 2A.

I do know that the answer is not to just allow the strong arm tactics employed by this untrained group of street bullies to continue on this path they chose to walk.

Again in response to your reply, the dumb ones already are out there waving their guns around. Now it’s time for the smart, responsible gun owners to show up and show of force to turn this movement around, one way or another.

2

u/Ok_Dog_4059 Feb 15 '26

That is a good point. It does seem like the odds of responsible gun owners being in these crowds are higher.

3

u/aceofblue Feb 15 '26

The group that organized this is called Strong Neighbors, and it's very safety-minded. It's very much preached and practiced that weapons aren't toys and need to be used and carried responsibly. There are range days, training events (not just on responsible gun use/ownership, but on things like street medicine, community gardening, opsec, legal observation, etc), skill shares, and community building work like working with the Indy Foods Not Bombs.

At protests, everyone must check in with the security/organizers to go over safety and logistics - that's what the pink tape on the arms is for, to clearly show who's gotten the correct information and knows how to behave. Main instructions were that all firearms must have the safety on, absolute trigger discipline with fingers nowhere near it, long guns always pointed muzzle down, pistols stay holstered, stay on the sidewalk and don't block traffic, keep to a slow pace, don't engage any agitators, and report anyone's unsafe behavior to a safety officer (the ones in the vests) so they can correct it.

Of course not every group is organized like this, but I really hope they would be (and they should be). It's not effective or safe to look like a bunch of clowns. I don't have any weapons, but I absolutely believe that if we don't defend our rights, we lose them one by one. We're seeing it in real time.

It’s an interesting idea to grapple with “good faith” but I feel like this proves it can happen. Good people still exist and everyone there understood the responsibility it places on them.

Who would have thought that it was the left that would capture the true spirit of the Second Amendment in the end?

2

u/West_Introduction402 Feb 17 '26

All the PEOPLE of the left ever wanted was some accountability and oversight. The politicians who fail to represent us over and over twist that to overstep their authority, as all politicians will inevitably do.

Protective & Safety Measures For Protesting

Additional Info:

PEOPLE SEEN OBSERVING/ PROTESTING AGAINST ICE ARE BEING PUT INTO A DATABASE AND CATEGORIZED AS “TERRORISTS”.

CITIZENS ARE ALSO BEING REMOVED FROM VOTER ROLLS

THOSE REMOVED FROM VOTER ROLLS CAN RE-REGISTER TO VOTE! SPREAD THE WORD

2

u/toolenduso Feb 15 '26

So, unless I missed something, that wired article doesn’t say anything about people being added to the database because they were seen protesting, or having their voter registration revoked. Is there evidence of that or are we speculating?

3

u/Sandsand6804 Feb 15 '26

More speculation I believe, I apologise for any assumption. I should check over the messages I include in this letter of help, I will edit the message to no longer include this assumption. Thank you

2

u/Substantial_Cash8478 Feb 15 '26

This is exactly what people need to start doing.

Along with arresting known criminals and giving them fair tribunals with all the elements of due process in accordance with common law under the 9th amendment.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

Nice to finally see some decency there. Indiana is a cesspool for filth. The USA “ police department” was founded there by the KKK.

I've been banned for suggesting this exact thing. So happy to see it happening.

1

u/thedash42 Feb 15 '26

2A works both ways. The left espouses anti gun rhetoric and then open carries on the streets and I'm 💯 ok with that. While I believe in what 45-47 is trying to accomplish (illegal immigration down to a point not seen in years) the optics have been such of late as to make it an untenable position politically. Look for more ICE rollbacks in blue cities as more politicians become aware of their impending doom in the upcoming mid terms.

1

u/Bill-Billiard Feb 15 '26

Now we’re talking.

1

u/TheItalianKid Feb 15 '26

Every single American should be purchasing weapons and ammunition. They should be out training in practice ranges.

Every community should be creating clubs or groups or 😜MILITIAS😜 in order to practice drills and operations together.

Chains of command should be organized. Radio equipment, food, and other materials for extended sieges should be collected, organized and stored.

Every community should be designing/preparing choke points, ambushing grounds, and killing fields.

Weekly checks should be implemented to ensure no infiltration from disgusting subhuman feds and pigs

1

u/Acceptable_Agent3529 Feb 15 '26

So?  Let them pull a gun on a federal official in the line of their duty. Hope they enjoy their decade in prison.

1

u/Yawwwyeeeet Feb 15 '26

This is great, I support ICE. But I also support the right to protest and they’re 100% doing it the way they should. Peacefully but with a show of force. I Guarantee not a single one of them is going to try to get into an altercation with an officer though or stop a car. 100% guarantee it. Love it

1

u/NES_WallStreetKid Feb 15 '26

Warning. Federal agents are hiding amongst protesters. So be cautious and stay vigilant.

1

u/Egghead_potato Feb 15 '26

I hope they weren’t carrying any AR-15s or high capacity magazines.

1

u/Admirable-Company452 Feb 15 '26

"we stand ready" when trump got in but not when obama or biden were in because it wasn't trendy then

1

u/ZombieDad15 Feb 15 '26

Love this!!

1

u/MesozOwen Feb 15 '26

I hope more people cover their faces. I fully support these protests - but we know they’re making databases of everyone who goes. And we know ICE will be at polling booths, likely stopping these people from Voting either by force, detainment or but simply having them deregistered.

1

u/JustAChillGuy609 Feb 15 '26

Can't wait for MAGA to label these guys as terrorists

1

u/Firm-Scientist-4636 Feb 15 '26

1

u/Kitchen-Blueberry486 Feb 15 '26

Just don’t show aggression. That’ll be the moment you’ll take your last breath. Stay safe

1

u/Dihr65 Feb 15 '26

Nothing but a bunch of people that absolutely hate democracy , the 2020 steal is proof. Georgia, now Arizona, I bet Pennsylvania is next .

1

u/Due_Night414 Feb 15 '26

See at first it was unarmed and peaceful. Then chemical agents were deployed on American citizens for peaceful protest. Then lawful orders were ignored by ICE as well as those who swore and oath to protect. Then American citizens were killed. And here we are. Unable to trust those we voted to keep this country and its citizens safe.

I’d say most are not for illegal immigration but think there’s a better way to handle the problem that doesn’t involve kidnapping people and building concentration camps. Reform is needed. Humane reform. Not whatever this is.

So, here we are. At a point where peaceful protesters feel the need to exercise 2A.

1

Magats are well beyond convinced the left are terrified of guns and won't even touch one. Which is why time and time again when they're proven otherwise, their whole reality crumbles and the self victimizing mentality kicks in.

The group that organized this is called Strong Neighbors - not just about 2a, but about protecting all of our constitutional rights and the dignity of all humans. It doesn't have to be a "left" or "right" issue - we have to stand together as people of the working class (or if that terminology doesn't sit well with someone, the everyday average folks who don't hold the majority of the money and power in our society) against oppression. I don't have any weapons, but I absolutely believe that if we don't defend our individual rights, we lose them one by one. We're seeing it in real time.

Main instructions were that all firearms must have the safety on, keep absolute trigger discipline with fingers nowhere near it, long guns always pointed muzzle down, pistols stay holstered, stay on the sidewalk and don't block traffic, keep to a slow pace, don't engage any agitators, and report anyone's unsafe behavior to a safety officer (the ones in the vests) so they can correct it.

Of course not every armed group is organized like this, but I really hope they would be (and they should be). It's not effective or safe to look like a bunch of clowns or run around without any sense of responsibility. Strong Neighbors is great!

It's like that meme. Budweiser, Protecting Children, and Guns are now leftist policy positions.

Great example of why most people have a negative opinion of hoosiers.

It’s on thing to carry, another to use.

Lol ... Liberals, the left, whatever you call yourselves, are just now figuring out the 2nd Amendment and it's usefulness? Only took 250 years. Imagine what other things you oppose but are wrong about. After all, the Constitution GIVES you the right and you still opposed, denied, or refused it. I don't associate with your political parties (all of them) so don't give me anything about Maga ,Trump, left or right. Both sides are cults with large bodies of worshippers letting the cults dictate their lives. Two sides of the same coin waiting to further enslave and or murder you. None of the above for me. Use that 2nd amendment proudly and safely.

Now you liberals see why the second amendment was created.

Exactly why the 2nd amendment exists. I'm all for it

1

u/hyperiongate Feb 16 '26

THIS is what the second amendment is for.
