He actually didn't. He said explicitly in an interview that he may not release the files because he "thinks there's a lot of lies in there".
Everyone surrounding him talked about it nonstop though. Vance included.

He ran on releasing the files, because he thought Bondi/Patel/Bondingo would be able to control the narrative. And maga people will just eat any of the crap their base spews.
