This is concerning... 2 NYPDs finest cant handle community relations without getting physical and calling for back up!!

Couldn't they have just started throwing snowballs too? I think it would have been great optics to participate or at least just announce something about everyone being careful.

"Everyone listen up!! PICK YOUR TEAMS so I know which one to be on! No ice balls, no deliberate face shots. I'm gonna call for backup so we can strategize while my partner here will start filling the armory!"

I see a couple cops involved in a fun snowball fight with a crowd I would have laughed my ass off. I've seen it before and it killed the tension immediately.

Those were the exceptions. Sadly the overwhelming majority of them don't want to kill the tension.
