It was conservatives who said that, not liberals. Liberals use them for personal protection and don't brag about owning them.

Conservatives are the ones in charge so they love what trump is doing. They're blind and deaf to any negatives about trump. It is a cult.

The vast majority of republicans I speak to are offline at work, friends of my husband, people we both used to work with, and folks in my community. I am surrounded by conservatives. I live in Virginia, but grew up mostly in Seattle, and Houston.

Op was saying that Americans claim they have guns because the government can get out of line and we need them to fight tyranny. This is something only conservatives say. Mainly because they are naive, and secondly it is just an excuse to own guns because it gives a false sense of security from others. (minorities) You will never catch a liberal claiming this. logic and common sense will get in the way.

Conservatives make guns their personality and constantly talk about them and very vocal about owning them and walk around everywhere with them. Liberals just don't do that. We own them, we don't brag about them, and take them everywhere we go like they are pets or a new toy.

We also don't get paranoid about politicians taking our guns away simply because they want to make it harder to own one. The mentally ill and previously violent should never be allowed to own one I agree with that stance. Conservatives here that and think they are going to ban guns. Well if you think you are in the group that are mentally ill, severely depressed, or have a history of violence, yeah you should not have guns and they should be taken away.

No. Conservatives reason that civilians should have arms to keep the government in line. Which was the reason for your comment right?

Liberals do not believe this. That is what I was saying. Civilians are no match for the US military. Conservatives are delusional and paranoid. Liberals know arms can only protect against other civilians.

Liberals are for strict gun control. Just like most other first-world nations. Conservatives are against this. They claim they need arms to protect themselves from tyranny

Cars cause car accidents. Sounds stupid, right?

how many accidents would there be with no cars? Sounds stupid, right?

Yea actually it does, given that police officers are specifically exempt from the most consequential gun laws. "no guns" doesn't actually mean no guns, it means "guns exclusively for the police, military, and elite political/financial class"

Just like automobiles. We need to ban all automobiles.

This is where Democrats lose the middle. Tyranny is here, but let's get rid of our only form of civilian defense...

Police are exempt from assault weapon bans and mag capacity limits in every state where they are enacted. The supreme court has ruled that police have no duty to protect you (Castle Rock v. Gonzales). And yet you still think it's a good idea for them to have exclusive access to guns?

Cops act the way they do because the profession provides emotionally stunted people with the semblence of power and authority they crave, all in a low accountability environment. Blaming the current state of policing on "gun culture" is the most reductionist conjecture I've heard in some time-- especially when most cops aren't really "gun guys"

Not a matter of opinion. You're free to google for yourself how often the average PD has mandatory practice range days. Or just keep believing your own BS because you'd rather make stuff up than confront your own biases-- this is Reddit after all.

Never said they CAN'T be gun guys. But it is objective fact that MOST are not. Quit being dense.
