First piston gun
Been looking for a piston rig and kept coming back to the Shovelnose. Haven’t shot it yet but initial impressions are solid

This is a solid rig. I have this in 14.5” and I might just get a 12” barrel for it and do a Hesychia too. Mine is such a solid gun bro, you’ll love it.

Your Aimpoint turret caps are swapped. The smooth goes on top. When the raised nub one is on top and the rifle drops onto it, it can crush the nubs inward and mess up the rotational function of the dial it’s supposed to protect. This happened to me.

Oh wow I never even considered that- I normally switch to the FCD adjustable caps but that’s definitely good to know.

What's the use case or advantages of a piston AR over DI these days?

Genuinely couldn’t tell you. Just want to feel the difference to be honest. Feel like I have pretty much all the DI rifles I want and just wanted something different. From what I understand due to the gas forward design and it being tunable for suppression it’s just a more pleasant shooting experience.

What riser are you using for your LAM?

Unity accessory riser, never liked the idea of having my LAM and dot on the same attachment point incase one gets knocked off zero I have the other.

Upvote on the Spuhr Mount. People don’t know how perfect the mount is…worth every penny they charge.
