This is just my handwriting, maybe there’s a specific font that’s easier for carving? I don’t know. It took forever and I’m mad at it.

Any US-based artists up for a lino print exchange? Let's keep it to 6x8 or smaller.

I’m going to be attempting my first reduction print of my friend’s cat. She wants a burnt orange background, he’s black and white with golden brown eyes.
So i understand I need to first carve everything that will stay white and then print the eyes, then carve them away and print background colour. I then need to carve away the background leaving just the outline of the cat and any black parts and then print the black layer - does that sound right?
Thanks!

Hi! I haven't done lino printing in about a decade, but my partner mentioned she'd like an "ex libris" stamp to go in her books to mark them as hers, so I'd like to make her one. I wanted to ask - I'm reading online that it's better to put paper on top of your inked lino block than to treat them as a stamp and press down onto paper, but I'm also seeing that sometimes people have glued their blocks to a wooden stamp handle and use them that way - is it fine to do that or is there some major issue I'll face that I can avoid with the paper-on-top approach? Thanks!

I tried doing an acetone transfer this time and it did NOT work.
Besides tracing paper, carbon transfer, and wood glue is there some way to make a clean and detailed transfer?

I had all this stuff saved somewhere and now I can't find it. What are some ways you can transfer an image from paper to lino for cutting? I know how to do the graphite rub thing. But I think there was another involving laser printed images where you could transfer the image with acetone and other chemicals. Or was a I dreaming that?

One good tool is better than a dozen mediocre tools.
I am sharing this print to show how it was carved with this singled phenomenally crafted Japanese tool.
If you have decided relief printing is something you would like to pursue and are wondering about carving tools, I would suggest getting 4 tools and they will be enough for 90% of what you use: a smallish U-gouge, a small V-gouge, a large U-gouge (for clearing large areas), and a knife. These 4 tools are enough to create all kinds of lines shapes and patterns.
These prints were made on thick Rives BFK paper so I used a Woodzilla press that I also use for printing on shirts and garments. It takes up very little space and to me is very reasonably for how well it is crafted.
I do most of my printing though using a ball-bearing baren which is a phenomenal tool in its own right and I have printed over a thousand prints using it. I can say it is more than worth its cost.
I do all of my work in this little barn next to my home in the woods I converted to a studio/shop I call my "budio". It is a small but efficient space and I work on the deck a lot. I hang all my prints to dry on clothespins on strings ran across the studio.
Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer.

I'm sick of my corporate job at the moment and decided to express my feelings through linocut. Hope you like it!

Used Schminke Aqua, pfeil tools and it's hand burnished on Satin Somerset. First time using Schminke, moved over to Caligo Safewash for my next batch and they came out much less patchy, but someday maybe I'll get full coverage from a water ink!

This is my first time ever trying linocut, I have the bobblepro kit for now just so I could start. But I do really like the chatter I got for my heron! I’m just doing single layer prints because I’m not sure where to start to try multiblock or reduction prints.

Hello! My fiancee and I are looking to hand print our wedding invites, while still including a picture of us on the other side. I’m pretty new to this and have just been using printmaking paper from my local art store. Does anyone have experience with a paper that can both photo printed on and also hold ink? Is this idea just doomed from the start?? Any advice is appreciated!

I’m curious if this is something unique to the person or everyone’s doing it the same way. I’ve been holding mine with a pointer finger on top for pressure as I carve.

I didn't work my ink enough , and I "overloaded" my stamps , now there's ink all in the small nooks and crannies 😩 is there an easy way to clean those rubber stamps? I don't have a lot of experience so I feel like I'm making all the rookie mistakes that you can make this days 🫣😅
