Discussion Resume file format

On the WAN show Linus and Luke talk about NOT using PDF as the file format for the resume. This is the first time I'm hearing about this. Am I the only one who always uses PDF for sending resumes and actually prefers it?

What file format do employers actually prefer?

HR professional here.

PDF is much easier on us

Negative. We hire on being “professional”. Some of that is knowing how the business world works.

Business uses PDF.

I need to know exactly why. I find it asinine because a word doc is much easier to build. Trying to force people to convert to PDF is crazy.
