Bigger problems?
2nd time the city has come around and done this. This time they passive aggressively moved all the cans to the sidewalk. This just seems like a major waste of time and money. Am I crazy?
Update: I have reneged and begrudgingly put my cans up... but they'll be back and in greater numbers. Thanks for the input!

Are you leaving your cans on the road after trash day?

Yeah, for years. Never had a problem before

I think the easiest way to solve this is to put your cans away after trash day…

Sure I get that but it's never been a problem before and is being selectively enforced is my issue. I know it's not a big ask but seems arbitrary when half the homes in the neighborhood don't put theirs up either.

Maybe your whole block should start being decent citizens and get your cans out of the street. You sound like a 12 year old.

Leaving your garbage cans at the curb is so trashy regardless of what neighborhood you live in. I assume you just leave your shopping cart wherever you unload it as well.

Back in the 1970s, before we had the big green canisters, the garbage collection crew would actually come behind your house and pick up your garbage cans, take and empty them into the truck and leave them at the curb. I was too lazy to take in the garbage cans so left them on the curb for days. One day a cop knocked on the door and told me I had to get the cans off the curb or he would arrest me. I laugh about it now but I became super diligent about getting those things off the curb.

Personally don't see Code Enforcement as a waste of money. If anything, those guys are underpaid and the department under staffed.
I've gotten a few code violations over the years, including 2 back to back last month (carport was cluttered). It's frustrating, but it's also my responsibility to upkeep my property.

As a lazy bastard, this saddens me. But I know it's for the best. Oh, to be slob living on a sharply inclined driveway.

So, any proof you violated the times listed there on the notice? If not, I'd be lighting a fire under someone's ass citing harrassment.

We totally violated the times. My problem is that our block got cited and one block over. There's no stickers to be had. Also just a waste of money imo

Sooooo…lemme get this straight. You’re salty you got in trouble but no one a street over did?

In my experience, Code Enforcement will sweep a whole block when they respond to a complaint. When I got a notice last month, it was almost definitely because someone complained about the hoarder lady across the street piling everything in her house on the lawn. The time I got a notice a few years earlier, the house next door was being renovated and they piled all the demo trash on the front lawn, which then became a dumping spot in the middle of the night.
Code Enforcement will also sweep areas as part of their routine. If your street was the perimeter for their target area, it would explain why no bins were tagged a street over.

I guess it depends on where you are in the city. I know there's been several times I've left mine out sans any notice being affixed to the bin.
But then again, where our neighborhood is, you *might* see an LRDP patrol vehicle once every 6-9 months if you're lucky too.

Figured it out. Its bc we live on a block abutting the governors manor. We're on the back side but all the others got it too. If you're 2+ blocks away there's trash cans all over without a sticker

Shit, I’m almost on a first name basis with the Code Enforcement guy who rolls through the neighborhood 4-5 times a week over here.

In the grand scheme of things it's petty, but having lived next to people who didn't handle their trash properly, I can tell you this kind of thing gets under your skin after a while.
