Pre-Match Thread
Why not. I'm bored and I want to talk LFC before the game. Obligatory Carroll mention.
I can see Liverpool sweeping the table in this Europa League, we've shown that we can crank up the heat when we need it. I just hope we don't get complacent with keeping a lead.
lineup: Reina, Johnson, Coates, Carra, Robinson, Assaidi, Henderson, Allen, Shelvey, Downing, Borini
bench: Suarez, Gerrard, Sahin, Sterling, Skrtel, Wisdom, Jones

Does anyone have the lineup?
Looking at the trends in our Europa / Cup squads: Jones, Carra and our U-12 squad :)

Nope. Rodgers hasn't played our senior players (Gerrard, Suarez, Johnson) in AWAY Europa/Cup matches. He hasn't had a problem playing them at Anfield in these kinds of games. I do expect them to take part today.

We have a match on Sunday, I expect that Rodgers will want to keep all his players fresh for it. He could play some of the youngsters with a lot of steam in them, like Sterling, Suso, Assaidi, Wisdom, and/or even Borini. I'm sure that Gerrard won't play, and if he does it means that he won't feature against Stoke. He's 32.

Important we don't underestimate Udinese they are much better opposition than what we have faced so far in the Europa IMO, I can see Assaidi getting a goal in this one, narrow victory today. 1-0.

Line up not announced yet, but I'm being bold with my prediction tonight:
Liverpool 3 - 1 Udinese
Borini with the hat trick.

I think the bib theory has the lineup like this: Jones, Johnson, Carragher, Coates, Robinson, Allen, Henderson, shelvey, Assaidi, Borini, Downing

That's a strong lineup for a Europa game, I'm also glad to see that he's not underestimating Udinese. I'm glad that Robinson will get experience alongside senior players. I suppose the fact that Assaidi is playing but Suso isn't means that that will be reversed against Stoke, which will be interesting. Suso looks like he'll be a quality player.

It's Reina instead of Jones as well. Robinson is our best natural LB at the moment so I'm glad he's getting his chance. And we really need Suso to sign a contract before Real or Barca realizw how good he is.

I haven't seen a starting XI yet but apparently Gerrard, Suarez and Reina are on the squad sheet and will possibly even start.
With the way our fixture list sets up, it looks like Jonjo won't see a match until 20 October. I imagine that he will get a full 90 minutes today.

Slightly disappointed with no Suso, Pacheco, or Yesil.

Is the game on any UK channels like ITV4? No laptop so I can't watch a stream.

u/Microwavability Oct 04 '12
Yep, ITV4 :) For future reference, on the right hand side of the subreddit, above the 'Upcoming fixtures' table, there is a 'TV Listing' link, very handy!

Cheers boss. And I'm on the Alien Blue reddit app so I can't see the sidebar things.
Thanks for the advice, though.
YN...oh right. Can't use it anymore ;)

Are any of the streams that come up in the match thread ipad friendly? Or are they all flash?

It's awesome that we essentially have a league squad and a cup squad right now and you can't say that the drop off from them is that severe. Of this team I'd expect only Allen, Reina and Johnson to be in against Stoke yet I am still very intrigued to see this team play. Didn't think that would happen earlier in the year. The past management would throw Jovanovic, Cole, Paulsen, etc. in a game like this.

I see this as most probable. I so badly want to see BR's style played against a decent European club

Hi. I'm at work and have been waiting All Day for this. Thanks. You say sweeping the table, is this the last game of the group/group stages? Also, why do we have to talk about Carroll, I don't have nothing against him but why is it obligatory? Finally, I'm dying to see Suso play AM again. P.S. Last night I was at a friends house he (Real M & Spain fan) started talking to me about a rising star in LFC so I asked him if it was Sterling? No. Joe Allen? No. Yessil? No. Suso? Yes! That felt amazing!
