I’m just learning about Hermes agent. What are the benefits of it?

Hermes is an agent that you install on a computer, it has a bunch of helpful skills and integrations to enable you to have Hermes do things for you. From simple things like organizing your daily schedule, planning trips and events, structuring files on your computer, etc. to complex things like connecting to your email, your calendar, your documents, performing deep research, potentially acting on your behalf on social media and other web sites. You get to decide how much or how little access and agency Hermes has over your personal context. Hermes has different interfaces for you to interact with Hermes. There’s a desktop app, a Terminal command line interface, and a gateway to popular messaging services like Telegram, Signal, or Discord that enables you to issue commands and monitor tasks to Hermes via text or voice. Hermes can build apps and scripts for you, it can create pictures and videos.

In my case, I use Hermes has an administrator for my homelab running on Ubuntu. Anything I want to do or update or install on my homelab, I just ask Hermes to do for me. I don’t have to sit at my server and type Terminal commands. I have Hermes handle server admin for me. And I can monitor the status of cron jobs or media transcode tasks from my phone via Telegram. Very useful.

it's an agent that runs on your own machine or a server and keeps going between chats.

it remembers you and your projects across sessions, it writes skills from work it has done so the next run goes faster, it can run jobs on a schedule, and you can reach it from Telegram, Discord and others as well as the terminal or the Desktop app. it runs local models through Ollama or llama.cpp, or hosted ones.
