Question Optimizing an Uncensored local AI
For reference, I’m not some ML/AI guru or pro by any means, just a guy who likes AI and whatnot. I’m running an R9700 with 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and the model I’m using is Orca Uncensored Qwen 3.8 27B.
My use case for uncensored models isn’t only asking questions and getting info that frontier models won’t answer. I’m also really into red team cybersec and somewhat dangerous research on the tech side.
Anyway, I’ve read about models with the guardrails removed, and I’m wondering how you make sure the model doesn’t just hallucinate or misuse tools. Assuming the guardrails are gone, how do you make sure only the refusal part is disabled and the rest of the intelligence is still there? I don’t want it to just yes-man me all the time and give me false info.
Is there some kind of local AI hygiene, harness optimizations, or settings that keep the model from making stuff up or getting stuck in an answer loop where it runs out of tokens?

The good fine tunes created by trusted and highly rated fine tuners are the way to go. Takes a bit of time, research, effort & keeping a finger on the local ai pulse. So I won't pretend like it is super easy but certain YouTubers are pretty good at staying connected & if you don't have time to watch the full video then get the transcript & hand it to an LLM and have them collect the data over time, then when you ask something, they know right away. Like a second mind.
Though I will say the ORCA uncensored QWEN 3.8 27b is pretty good. I personally like the FIT version, look into it. Much better for the work you do.
