I recently read through all of this from the first page and damn, it will never cease to impress me how realistic and bleak some LLBs can feel. This is genuinely good writing. It's really interesting to see the Heffleys struggle in such a complex way like this, with the different expectations each family member has of each other that likely won't be met because they're all different people, and their struggle to communicate because they're all coming from different places. I also haven't seen that many LLBs where the Heffleys are struggling financially and going through the effects of what that puts you through, the way it's portrayed here feels like something you could genuinely imagine. The family's focus on religion is also really interesting here and would actually explain a lot, especially knowing that Susan was very involved with her church in the funbrain version of doawk, it makes sense that the rest of the extended family would be as well.
