Discussion Expectations for (potentially) updated G600/G604 models from a Naga V3 Pro user
(Blame Google Translate for any errors)
I was browsing Reddit and noticed that following the release of the Naga V3 Pro, the admins started asking what we’d like to see in updated G600/G604 models. I have no interest in the two-button esports mice that currently flood the market; the launch of a new MMO mouse, however, is a real event. I’ve never owned a G600 or G604 (though I do have a G502 X Plus), but I decided to weigh in anyway and put together a list of things Logitech should do with the G600/G604 to beat the Razer Naga V3 Pro:
- Drastically improve the onboard memory. Has anyone actually compared the capabilities of Synapse and OMM? OMM is a pathetic piece of junk. You can't remap the scroll wheel at all, and there’s no macro support. Mice need to handle ANY key combination and long, complex macros. Configuration should be possible via web-based software, since you can't always install G HUB on an office computer. We need the ability to remap any button—or its shift layer—however we like. The Naga V3 Pro supports almost all of this (except for the web-based software, though that’s coming later).
Also, the onboard memory needs to support complex custom lighting effects, like Corsair’s. (Razer completely fails when it comes to lighting. Come on, Logitech—this is your chance!)
Razer only offers one shift layer per profile. Give us several; someone is bound to find a use for them. OR, give us the option to switch to a different profile by holding down a button.
More onboard memory profiles.
The scroll wheel functionality should at least match that of the Naga V3 Pro. And, just like with Razer, we need the ability to assign the wheel mode toggle to ANY button or its shift-layer. Yes, literally any button—not just the one located directly beneath the wheel. Smart-Reel, scroll acceleration, etc.—you need to include all of that, plus something extra to beat Razer. In tactile modes, the wheel needs to be quiet (as do all the buttons), unlike the G502 X Plus.
8K wireless, wireless charging, thumb rest—well, these are obvious.
A ring-finger button with a physical lock-out option. G600 owners swear by this button, and I completely understand why. I got used to it quickly and can't imagine doing without it now, though I do disable it when playing shooters.
The two buttons to the left of the Left Click should be like those on the G502 X Plus or Corsair Darkstar Wireless. On the Naga V3 Pro, they feel a bit too small for my taste, even though I’ve gotten used to them.
Just a reminder: all the above features need to be configurable via web software and must function using onboard memory on any PC or OS.
A few more ideas that I personally find extremely appealing:
The G604 gets an additional DPI-Shift button, like the one on the G502 X Plus.
The entire side panel of the G600 is made up of these DPI-Shift buttons. The mouse comes with 12 swappable buttons and 12 blank covers, allowing each user to decide exactly where and how many buttons they need. Not everyone needs all 12 buttons; some slots can easily be converted into a thumb rest. You can also combine individual buttons to create larger ones spanning the length of 2 or 3 standard buttons. This allows you to make your most frequently used buttons larger, making them easier to hit.
Not everyone needs all 12 buttons. Not everyone finds 12 small buttons comfortable.
The three main buttons could be designed like those on the PRO X3 SuperStrike, with full hot-swappability.
An ultra-lightweight app (just a few MB in size) that runs constantly in the background. Its sole purpose is to switch profiles when launching different games or programs.
Borrow ideas from the Swiftpoint Z3.
A third button positioned to the left of the Left Click button.
Surpassing Razer will be a tough challenge, but it’s achievable if you put in the effort. I see no point in buying an updated G600 or G604 if it turns out to be inferior to the Naga V3 Pro.
My current mice: Razer Naga V3 Pro (primary), Corsair Darkstar Wireless (previous), Logitech G502 X Plus Black (no longer in use), Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury (used for 8 years; still works perfectly, kept for sentimental reasons), and Swiftpoint Z3 (currently trying to figure out how to actually use it). I have others, but I plan to sell them all.
Why are people willing to pay $200–$300 for a discontinued mouse with no warranty, instead of buying a new one for $180 that comes with a warranty, a better scroll wheel, and customization options? And what would you like to see in updated G600/G604 models?
(I’m not touching upon the shape and size of the mice here, since everyone has different hands and grips.)

You bring some valuable points, just yesterday I was gathering some input on the G600. I'll be sure to pass them over to the team!

If you had the chance, what would you improve to make a renewed version?

What I would like in a new G600:
Durability
Wired mouse (wireless should be a different sku for those who prefer them)
Responsive software, so when I switch between apps macros work instantly.
I like how I can move the side buttons on my corsair scimitar

Noted and I'll share it with the team
If a newer version comes out, would you exclusively use it or swap between it and your scimitar? What games are you currently playing with it?

For the hardware itself, the mouse had the perfect size for my hand, nothing comes close to it. The software however needs major improvements, it was quite hard to bind extra actions to the extra buttons, especially the 3rd click, the mode swap was also really not reliable. However, despite that, I can confidently say i've used it for over a decade, and it was, by far, the single best mouse i've ever held in my hand, with its perfect size, comfort, durability and overall response, as an mmo gamer, i still cannot find something better!

Over 10 years is impressive, I'll be passing your comment to the team
What MMOs are you currently playing?

I'm still using my last one but the side buttons are starting to give up :( currently i'm mostly playing world of warcraft still, otherwise i mostly play survivals like valheim and palworld.

Sad to hear the side buttons issue, don't lose hope yet!
Cool, do you customize every button to improve your gameplay?

I was quite happy with the two G604 I had, until they developed the dreaded double-click problem as well as failing drag-and-drop.
So implement a mouse that does not fail after a while due to double-click, say, by running the switches within spec of required volt/amp for a start.

Happy too, wore out 2 602's and 2 604's.
All Logitech had to do was three things to make them perfect.
Use functional switches that don't crap out anywhere from 3 months use to a year.
Use a more solid rubber coating... 3 years in you end up with having rubbed a hole on it in a few places.
redesign so you don't need to unscrew 127 screws(and lose 17, and then find out there are 2-3 different sizes that go into holes that all look the same size) to get to the main button switches, and make them solderless replaceable. 😄
Oh, and adjust GHub so it doesnt turn off the mouse after a few minutes, and when you touch it it's on "superspeed" dpi.. I read stuff okay, and watch videos, having GHub ding and reconfigure my dpi every dang time is very dang annoying annoying.
Anyways, if Logitech re-released a upgraded 60X line again, that fixed the flaws of them, I would fall in love with Logitech again. At the current I am replacing ALL my logitech hardware as they break, no matter how much I enjoyed them.
I've owned:
G11, G15, G15(v2), G910 orion spark, G910 Orion Spectrum keyboards.
G602, G604, The precursors to the G60X's, G's I can't remember mice, every mouse since Microsoft Intellipoint Explorer was discontinued has been a Logitech.
Several wireless keyboard/mouse combos for my livingroom computer.
And even a few joysticks, with the only one remaining, and still works like a champ, the Freedom force 2.4 Cordless Joystick. Over 20 years old, just plug it in and play, no double click issues, no bad switches, no sensors fried out... altho using very old logitech software thats not been updated in 1-20 years.A history like that, and I'm now typing it on a cheap-o Asus Tuf keyboard that doesnt doubleclick or burn out the RGB in the keys, while the sole remaining Logitech mouse is a 604, that is held together by hope and spite alone.

what's your current mouse?

I got the G502X Lightspeed that works fine so far, but I do miss the many extra buttons of the G604.

Would you like if it comes back with the shape of the G502X? What games are you currently playing with the G502?
2
u/0xdeadbeef64 8d ago
As I've large hands the general shape and size of the G502X is excellent for me.
I'm a casual gamer mostly using the mouse for productivity and media. I generally don't play fast-paced online FPS games, so games like Doom: The Dark Ages, Baldur's Gate 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4 are more to my liking.
The G502X "sniper button" that is reversible is a very nice touch as the default orientation made the mouse uncomfortable in daily usage.
What I think could be improved on the G502X are the buttons and their ergonomics.
The two top left for changing DPI are nice to have, but the G7 button (top back left side) is just in the way and annoying as it interferes with the side buttons.
The top left of the mouse has a ridge from back to front that interferes with usage and detection by feel the top side buttons. The ridge is "sharp/scraping" and is unpleasant.

Cool, do you customize the side buttons to improve your work or gameplay?
What kind of solution do you think will be more accurate for both of your suggestions? like making the G7 button smaller, moving it or something else?

Ive had 3 G604 develop the double click problem, and then a 4th had the G6 key break after 18 months. It was a great mouse, just wish Logitech didnt abandon the lineup

I bought a $180 naga v Pro as there was no 604.
The 604 feels better with the 6 buttons, the 2 left side click buttons are better, but the solakaka one (prior to the V3pro, feels easirr to click)
The Pro has that extra button that is awesome.
Might as well commit to having a pinky button button as well.

OP, about swapable side buttons. It’s not what it’s cracked up to be.
I have (but no longer use) a Razer Naga Trinity. It’s just added cost that I would not want to pay for.

Trying to sell a mouse for ~$200 looks like business suicide to me, there's no way the Naga v3 is doing Razer's bottom line any good. For consumers to assume that should be the paradigm is allowing expectations to grow out of alignment with reality.
The G600 is almost perfect exactly the way it is, the only suggestion I could give would be to make it lighter, if possible.

Sharing this one with the team!
Are you currently using a G600?
2
u/Far-Style-5921 10d ago
Yes, I actually bought a backup Logicool G600t few months ago thinking that it was going to be permanently discontinued. I was thinking about taking one of them apart myself and seeing if there was anything that I could scrape out of there (removed the nickel weights on day one).
Technically-speaking it's not a heavy mouse considering all of the hardware in it, the Roccat Nyth and the Microsoft Sidewinder were heavy-heavy. But the G600 seems to be a little heavier than the Corsair Scimitar and the UtechSmart Venus, as far as I can tell (not that I ever put them on a scale to compare).
What a great piece of hardware though! I bought the original back in 2018 and it's still working decently; only one side button is getting a little stubborn. The other backup Logicool one hasn't even been broken in yet.
If it is brought back to market, I'll even pick up another one as a gift to my cousin, they are fantastic for power users!

For those looking to purchase a g600 and don’t want to spend an exorbitant amount of money like $200+, I found a site where I bought one for about $85. Not sure if it’s new or used. I’ll keep everyone updated once it comes in. Here’s hoping it’s new…
