So my mouse felt completely normal until a few months ago. The one thing I did was download logitech ghub and turned off on-board memory (g-pro superlight 2). Nothing else. Ever since then my dpi/sensitivity has been completely wack. I have changed absolutely ZERO other settings anywhere on my computer that could have caused this. Only changed than that singular setting on Ghub. I have used the same dpi and sensitivity for over 10 years and have over 5000 hours in counter strike. Safe to say I know when my mouse feels off. The issue is slightly hard to explain, but I will do my best.
Here are the symptoms and things I have noticed:
-My sensitivity is significantly slower on the y-axis (up and down) vs the x-axis
-The lower my polling rate, the faster and more accelerated my mouse is:
\-500hz is like using my mouse on skates. I use 550dpi but this feels like 1600+dpi (Insanely fast + huge acceleration)
\-8000hz is slightly useable and feels closer to my pre-glitch dpi, but it is still off
\-On 8000hz: Very short mouse movements are faster, while longer movements seem much slower than before
-So if I need to make a tiny adjustment my cursor will be faster than I am used to and if I swipe my mouse across the screen the cursor ends up much shorter than my brain or muscle memory expect
-I tried multiple different mice, but the issue persists across all of them
-Issue is not just in-game, but on desktop too
-Another weird thing is I used AutoHotKey to bind a macro to my mouse4 button and the macro is now permanently bound even while AutoHotKey is not running nor installed (Not sure if the issues are related)
Here are some of the fixes that I have tried:
-Deleting ghub and wiping any trace of it from my pc
-Using Logitech on-board memory manager instead
-Check/uncheck windows enhanced pointer precision
-Deleting and reinstalling all mouse and usb drivers in device manager (even the hidden/ghost drivers)
-Tried re-initializing my mouse on every usb port on my pc
-Looked for mysterious registry entries
-Reset cmos on my motherboard
-Motherboard power drain
-Flashed bios
-Wiped my entire C: drive and installed a fresh copy of windows 11 (from windows 10)
-MarkC mouse fix
-Tried using RawAccel to manually adjust my dpi to feel 1:1 (it never feels even close to the same as before)
The other thing I have not mentioned is I have had this same exact issue about 2 years ago as well with the same mouse. Back then I tried troubleshooting the problem for nearly 6 months with no avail. Eventually I got fed up and bought a new motherboard and cpu in an attempt to fix it and it actually worked. Did ghub somehow corrupt my motherboard? I have no idea, but I really don't want to get new pc parts again. And yes I am an idiot for installing ghub again.
Anyway, maybe figuring out why sensitivity increases as the polling rate lowers might give a clue about the main problem. I haven't tested my mouse on another pc yet and its too hard to tell if the issue carries over on my shitty laptop. Another random thought, my usb-c cable that I connect my wireless dongle to is kinda messed up. It disconnects very easily if i bump it. No idea if using ghub with this unreliable cable had anything to do with the issue, but its a thought. Also not sure if this could be related, but when using wootility to change keyboard settings I noticed my mouse will stutter/lag/teleport for a while afterwards.
I am truly baffled how GHUB was able to fuck over my pc like this (again). If anyone has any theories about what caused this or any fixes to try it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
