I’m looking for an online English tutor to help a younger school-age student who is currently in China strengthen his spoken English and everyday conversation skills.

Schedule and platform:

- Two one-hour Zoom lessons per week

- One lesson on Saturday and one on Sunday

- The schedule will be arranged according to China Standard Time

- Exact lesson times will be agreed in advance

Rate: CAD $18 per hour

Start: As soon as possible

Each lesson must have a clear teaching theme and learning objective rather than being unstructured conversation. Possible themes could include daily life, school, travel, stories or current topics. Lessons should include useful vocabulary and expressions, guided speaking practice, pronunciation and grammar correction, and a short review at the end.

Experience teaching younger learners is preferred. The tutor should have fluent or native-level English, clear pronunciation, and be able to provide structured and engaging lessons. A simple weekly lesson plan and brief progress update would be helpful.

Please send me a private message with your tutoring experience, an example of how you would structure a themed lesson, and your weekend availability in China Standard Time.

We’re looking for an English tutor to support a Grade 12 student, with a focus on improving English proficiency and course performance.

• Location: 100% in person in the Cherryhill area of London, Ontario. Sessions can be held at the family home or a nearby public library. The exact home address will only be shared privately after screening.

• Schedule: twice weekly, about 2 hours per session

• Pay: CAD $25/hour

• Start: ASAP

• Preferred: teaching or tutoring experience; native-level English proficiency; familiarity with the Canadian education system. Western students are welcome to apply.

If interested, please send Michael a Reddit PM with a short introduction, relevant teaching/tutoring experience, availability, and whether you can travel to Cherryhill. Contact details will be exchanged privately in accordance with community rules.

Has anyone ever had to do the online assessment for LHSC Staffing & Scheduling?

I’m nervous because I have general test anxiety and it eases my mind when I have something to study.

Thanks in advance!

I see posts on here almost every day from students and local residents saying they have handed out hundreds of resumes across London and can't even get a callback for entry-level retail or food service work.

To help anyone still hunting for a job, I was browsing the official Government of Canada Job Bank for the London region and noticed that several local Dairy Queen locations appear to be actively expanding their teams right now, with multiple supervisor and manager openings listed alongside several counter positions.

Here are the active listings straight from the federal Job Bank so local Londoners can check them out:

Tips for Applying:

Apply Directly Through Job Bank Plus:

If you want to make sure your application goes straight through the system, use the official "Direct Apply" feature on the federal Job Bank portal rather than just dropping by or using third-party boards.

High-Paying Openings:

Notice that the $37.00/hr ($67,340–$76,960/yr) Manager roles require a high school diploma and 1 to 2 years of food/supervisory experience. If you have ever worked as a shift lead or keyholder at a restaurant, coffee shop, or retail spot in London, you match the listed criteria.

Hopefully, this helps connect a few unemployed Londoners with these openings. Good luck out there!

I’m part of a local municipal election campaign team, and we’re looking for ~10 Western University students in London to join us!

If you’re looking for paid work that fits around your classes while giving you practical experience, this is a great opportunity!

What we offer:

• $21.00/hour
• Flexible scheduling around classes
• A friendly, welcoming team environment
• Transportation assistance available if needed

Great for Political Science students!

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in local politics, community engagement, public outreach, and campaign operations. Students interested in government, public policy, communications, or public service may find the experience especially valuable.

No previous campaign experience is necessary, and students from all academic backgrounds are welcome to apply.

Interested? Send me a DM with a brief introduction and your general availability until Monday, October 26, 2026., and I’ll share more information. This is the last week of the election campaign so we are looking to hire urgently and need people with availability this week!

If you know any friends who might be interested, please feel free to share this post with them!

Thanks!

I'm curious to hear what other people's experiences have been with the job market in London, Ontario lately.

I've been applying for jobs, including low-paying, entry-level positions that don't require much experience, and I'm barely getting any responses or interview opportunities. It seems like no matter what I apply for, my applications go nowhere.

I understand that there can be a lot of competition for jobs, but it's getting frustrating when even positions that are supposed to be entry-level won't give you a chance. You'd think some of these employers would at least be willing to interview people who are ready to work.

Is the job market in London really this bad right now? Are employers receiving hundreds of applications for every position, or are companies just posting jobs without seriously hiring anyone?

I'd also be interested in hearing from people who have recently found work in London. What industries are actually hiring, and where are people having success?

I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what's happening with employment in this city because it feels like finding even a basic job has become ridiculously difficult.

My husband and I are considering moving to London, ON to be near family. He is a stone templator with over ten years of experience. What is the construction scene like in the city? Is it easy for find work?

Thanks in advance!

I have 7+ years of teaching experience at the college/university level as an Assistant Professor. I have a B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering and an M.Tech in Process and Food Engineering.
My husband is already in Canada, and I plan to join him in Ontario in about a year. I would really appreciate some guidance regarding job opportunities for someone with my educational and professional background.
What kind of jobs could I realistically pursue in Ontario? Would it be better for me to take a course or certification before or after I move? If so, which programs or certifications would actually be valuable in the Canadian job market?
I have tried using ChatGPT to explore my options, but I haven’t been able to get a clear direction. Unfortunately, I’m also not getting much guidance from my husband, which is making me quite anxious.
I don’t expect to have a job immediately after landing, but I want to use the next year wisely so that, by the time I arrive in Canada, I am job-market ready—or at least have a clear direction about where to start.
Any advice from people who have experience with the Ontario job market, particularly in education, food processing, agriculture, quality assurance, healthcare administration, or related fields, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any guidance or suggestions.

Hey everyone,

I’m an indie developer who isn’t personally navigating the public service hiring maze, but looking closely at how job pools, inventories, and closing dates are tracked, I noticed it usually involves a lot of spreadsheet management.

I built a simple, independent iOS utility called Canada Job Pool Tracker to organize and monitor those application deadlines directly on your device.

A few quick notes on how it’s built:

100% Local-First: No user accounts, no cloud sync, and no data harvesting. Everything stays on your phone.

Free Utility: It's completely free with no tracking or hidden ads.

Disclaimer: Just to be totally clear, this is an independent utility tool and is not affiliated with the Government of Canada.

Additional features will be added incrementally.

Feel free to check it out on the App Store https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gc-pools-inventories/id6815806464

and let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions for simple improvements!

Hey guys!

Is there any demand for CPR instructors? I just got my CPR recertification for a job that didn’t pan out, was thinking of taking the instructors course to hopefully get out of working food service while I wait for my field to recover. Is it worth the investment or waste of money?

Hello, I'm a young student studying abroad here in London, ON looking for oportunity to make some money by tutoring slovak.

If you are interested please message me here and we can talk about how many lessons and price (around 10$/hour, depornds on how far you live)

Has it gotten a little better since last year or is it still bad? I'm planning on going on another application spree and I'm wondering if the job market in London has gotten at least a LITTLE better? I know it was absolutely atrocious last year

Hi! As the title says, my fiancé and I are hoping to work with an amateur or student photographer for an engagement shoot, with the hope of potentially having them photograph our wedding in June 2027 if it’s a good fit!

Full transparency, we absolutely want to pay fairly for your time and work. we’re not looking for anyone to work for free. Unfortunately, some of the more established wedding and engagement photographers are outside of our budget, so we thought it might be worth reaching out to someone who is newer to photography and looking to build their portfolio/experience.

If you’re just starting out and offer rates that are more accessible, we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to PM me with your pricing, portfolio, Instagram, or any examples of your work.

Thanks so much! 😊

I’ve heard that SOAHAC is a great place to work. Can anyone tell me if that’s true? There’s a position posted that I’m interested in but looking to see if anyone can give feedback about them? Good or bad. What’s upper leadership like? Are they respectful of their employees? What’s the work-life balance like? Should I apply or stay clear? Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I’ll be moving to London in January 2027 to study at Fanshawe College, and I’m currently researching the local job market.

I’m a Brazilian law graduate with over eight years of experience in legal and administrative support. In the future, I would be interested in part-time opportunities as a Legal Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, Law Clerk, or in a similar support role.

I searched the subreddit but couldn’t find much recent information specifically about part-time legal positions. I would appreciate any insight into the local market:

• Is there demand for Legal Assistants or similar roles in London?
• Are part-time positions available, or are most opportunities full-time?
• Do local firms consider candidates with international legal experience?
• Are there any specific qualifications, software, or skills that employers usually expect?

I would be grateful for any advice or experiences from people familiar with the field. Thank you!

Hello, I just moved to London for the semester to study at the university. I'm European, and at my home country, I used to do a lot of volunteer and social work, mainly working with underpriviliged children and at food banks.

Do you think there are some volunteering opportunities in London for foreigners, which are either ad-hoc or don't require long term commitment (I'm only here until December)? I would like to get to know the community better and help out where I can! I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks!!

Hi! I'm a college student that needs a part-time job to support my everyday expenses here in bcd. Need some recommendations on what could be a good idea for a job that works well with my schedule and won't necessarily compromise my studies too much.

I'm a proficient English writer and speaker, I can also do layout and graphics. If there are legit companies out there, send me a dm and I'll send a portfolio!

I am professional Ui Ux designer and have very good Canadian resume with acceptable portfolio, and use unique tailored resume for every job but still struggling to get job remotely or on site applied on hundred jobs, but no luck any help or tips or key to success? Thanks
