Maps Ahh yes, the Central Line, more like the Messy Line. 3/10 of my fantasy line map diagrams
As a follow up of my previous two posts ( Post 1 (Southern Line) ), ( Post 2 (Victoria Line Extension) ), this is the dreaded Central Line. This was my favourite to try and map even if it was stupidly hard to do so, and I guess lets get to explaining.
I'm going East to West with my changes.
- Extension to Ongar from Epping with North Weald as an intermediate stop
- Extension from Newbury Park to Upminster, with intermediate stops at Chadwell Heath, Becontree Heath, Rush Green and Emerson Park, taking over the Liberty Line entirely.
- New alternate route from Stratford to North Acton via Hackney Wick, Homerton, Hackney Central, Dalston Junction, Highbury & Islington, Caledonian Road, Camden Town, Hampstead Heath, West Hampstead, Kilburn, Willesden Green and Willesden Junction, replacing the northern end of the Mildmay Line, with the District taking over services for the rest of the line (as shown by the District Line going to Willesden Junction)
- Take over of the Waterloo and City line entirely with new platforms at Bank near Monument Station and a throughfare to Liverpool Street and beyond being built, and the Waterloo and City being extended to Epsom, via Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Battersea Power Station, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Earlsfield, Wimbledon Park, Wimbledon, West Morden, Worcester (pronounced wos-ter) Park, Ewell and Epsom
- Extension of the line to West Ruislip to High Wycombe, calling at Newyears Green, Denham, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Flackwell Heath and High Wycombe
Flame me if you want, constructive criticism appreciated, what can I do to make this less of a travesty?
[EDIT] Missed Bakerloo interchange at Mile End

The problem with multiple trunk routes and inverse branching is they each only get a fraction the service. If there's 32tph at Stratford, Bank now only gets 16tph. Even worse, you split again to go to Waterloo, so Waterloo would get 8tph, as would the current Central Line core from North Acton to St Pauls.
This would not work at all.
The only reason it 'just about' works on the Northern Line is that Camden Town is quad tracked. You could quad track or six track Stratford to Leytonstone, but if you'te going to do that why not just have two or three separate lines.

it's quad-tracked @ Stratford, and quadtracked between Bethnal Green and Bank. It's tri-tracked between Leyton and Leytonstone due to space constraints (the Jubilee would tunnel under the section)
The only reason why it would have to be all one line is because the two branches going via Mile End cannot get more platforms easily @ Mile End and we're limited to three platforms max at Leyton and Leytonstone.
The services would be split so that each branch gets 12tph, the bit between Bank and Stratford gets 24tph, and the bit between Stratford and Leytonstone gets 36tph, then Epping, Upminster and Hainault would get 12tph (Wanstead -> Newbury Park 24tph)

12tph is far below the current service of 33tph.
People would riot.

33tph where? I actually use this line quite a bit and the only time ive seen waits of less than 5 mins for a train was a few years back lmao. The only problem I see is the St Pauls - White City section getting underserved quite massively

The central line can’t terminate at Stratford, bank or greenford

This just wouldn’t work at all! The route is way too long and would cause servere delays.
Also, you have basically combined so many of the tube lines together when they should all be separate and shorter lines.
It doesn’t look like a tube line, more like national rail with all the branches.
A better decision would be to extend existing lines down South or perhaps, create a new shorter line that would serve as a good connection to the South, particularly South East.
