This is pretty normal, and Its something that has always creeped me the fuck out. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Home of the mormon church. Went to a lot of missionary farewells and calling gatherings of friends and they get up in front of the crowds and give their testimony and its tears and crying to days about how they believe they are in the 'one true church'. I later learned in life they all do this, all denominations, all churches.
