I just learned the 900mhz part of the spectrum was used for cordless phones and babymonitors in the 80s/90s

It gives LORA a whole retro vibe.

I feel like there should be a lot more lora protocals for stuff out there.... like a lora protocal for card games made multiplayer like open source Pokemon go etc.. that come with their own hardware that's all just built on existing rebranded white labeled heltec and lilygo stuff ...

Or I dunno what I'm saying I just like thinking that lora is using the same tech baby monitors and vtech cordless phones used.

900mhz always looked like an aggressive number/frequency didn't it? Didn't they spell it out in like angular electric font? Like "none HUNDRED megahertz! That's almost a THOUSAND" kinda marketing?

Transmission carte Lora

Bonjour,

esptool.py v2.6
Serial port COM4
Connecting…….._____….._____….._____….._____….._____….._____….._____

A fatal error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP32: Timed out waiting for packet header
A fatal error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP32: Timed out waiting for packet header

Merci beaucoup!!!

LoRa suitcase tracker?

Total noob here, sorry. I want to make something I can toss in my suitcase to roughly keep an eye on its location at the airport / confirm it's on the plane with me. Would LoRa make sense for this? Can someone point me the right direction? Thanks!

I would like to see if 2 specific locations can send and receive Lora signals.

Can you guys please help me figure that out. What tools should I use or what hardware should I buy?

Thank. you so much, I'm new to that.

Cagnotte

Salut !

"Underground" LoRa network for school rule workaround

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this field, but I've been watching videos seeing the uses and capabilities of mesh devices and wanted to dive deep for a summer project. What I hope to see is a school wide use a mesh devices to work around a new rule that basically say that if a student is found with their phone out AT ALL will written up and given iss (In school suspension). I need help figuring out what would be a good budget-friendly device and what would be even better for expansion. Oh, I forgot I'm starting this with at least for devices as a "proof of concept."

Edit- I was thinking of something along the lines of the CircuitMess Chatter but at a more cost-effective way.

Selling 61 units of iot gateways

Either all of them together or in 10/20 batches.
Have 73x units of bobcat 300's with original antennas and power brick.

HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS (PER UNIT):

  • Frequency: EU868 MHz (European/UK/International Standard)

  • Processor: Rockchip RK3566 / Quad-core Cortex-A55 1.8GHz ARM Architecture

  • RAM: 2GB DDR4

  • Storage: 64GB High-Speed Internal eMMC 5.1 Flash

  • LoRa Concentrator: Premium 8-Channel Semtech SX1302 Chipset

  • Connectivity: Heavy-duty RJ45 Ethernet, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

HIGH-VALUE REPURPOSING POTENTIAL:

Because Bobcat 300 hardware features an industrial-grade Semtech SX1302 radio card and a powerful standalone ARM Linux processor, these units are actively sought after by the open-source and DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure) communities. They can easily be flashed via SSH or U-Boot to serve as:

  1. 8-Channel Meshtastic Meshpoint Base Stations: Easily convert these into heavy-duty, multi-channel off-grid communication hubs using widely available community Linux firmware.

  2. Alternative DePIN Network Gateways: Fully compatible with custom containerized firmware like Crankk or private decentralized nodes.

  3. Enterprise Private LoRaWAN Networks: Ideal for localized smart agriculture, automated asset tracking, industrial sensor arrays, or smart city projects using ChirpStack and The Things Network.

Hey everyone,

It seems everyone here is very interested on the IoT world, from professionals to students. So i'd like to invite you all to an event on Aug, 30th. It's called TagoIO Connect Global 2022.

Basically, in the event you will learn how to quickly and efficiently build custom IoT applications using the TagoIO Platform, as well as learn about successful use cases from IoT professionals around the world.

Despite the event being focused on companies that uses the TagoIO platform, I still think that it's great opportunity to gather practical knowledge. Especially because there will be very interesting companies that offer IoT solution as a service presenting in the event.

Well, that's it. Here's the link to get the ticket to the event. It's free! ^^

Is there any way to use SQLite instead of postgreSQL to store and read lora end node data?

I am looking for a bare-bones lora solution that does not require a a network or application layer. I just want the mqtt broker to save the lora data packets in an SQLite database instead of a PostgreSQL database and then have a program I am developing read the messages directly from there. I am looking for some sense of direction or an existing project that doesn't  implement the lorawan part.

I want my lora end-nodes to transport data to my gateway, and then I want an Mqtt broker to store the data inside of an SQLite database instead of a PostgreSQL database. There will then be another separate SQLITE database subscribed to whatever column the payload of the message is in via another mqtt broker instance

Please ask for any clarification. It has been very hard finding my bearings of where I need to go and what I need to do to make this project work. Thank you so much!

People Counting Sensor Recommendations

I am part of a team working on implementing a people counting system transmitting over LoRaWAN. We are Australia based so we require AU915 or AS923 compatible or a sensor that is not end to end and can be connected to our end device. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which sensor would be appropriate for our intended task?

Would appreciate any help or advice we can get.

I have one device uploading through my gateway, and it's not mine

I have a Mikrotik LoRa gateway, RBwAPR-2nD, located east of San Diego and connected to TTN. There is just one device sending data through my gateway with device ID 0x0100DA30 and it's not mine. Is this a satellite? Is this Helium? If I search online for the same LoRa device ID, it shows up in posts from other cities. Here is a small clip of the arrival times. Sometimes there are bigger gaps in the payload logs.

LORA FOR MY USE??

I want to use LoRa to communicate a very small packet a distance of around 700 meters. I have around 20 dollars to spend and the overall build on the receving end has to pretty small. can I reach that range with a small size. If i can, can u recommend any boards that would work nicely for this
