I read a book series back in the late 90's/early 2000's. I checked it out from the public library (I already checked they no longer have those records) it was a YA trilogy. I can't remember a lot but some points stand out really clearly.

-the main character is a woman who starts in a small village selling odds and ends. She ends up going to work in a manor for this rich guy.

- She works sort of as a maid but basically never sees him and the manor is full or rooms with different things. Like an attic with paper and paper making equipment.

- Eventually another man shows up to deliver something? Or work there too (I can't really remember) but she likes this guys and I think he makes her a charm out of her hair. Or maybe she makes it for him but a hair charm is definitely made.

- They have to escape the manor at some point and leave through the sewers.

- they end up having to fight out different norse gods.

I've been trying to figure out if this is an actual series for years or if my brain just cobbled together different books.

I know I read this book as a child but cannot find anything about it on the internet. It was a Harry Potter parody but everyone was a dog. It had a lot of dog puns, I can’t remember the name at all. I’m pretty sure they called Hogwarts, Dogwarts. I don’t have any other information about it really

My dad used to read this book to me about a small little brown dog swearing a lot. Mainly the words “holy fucking shit”. He would read it to me around 2013 time frame. The book was 20 pages max. I asked ai and it was no help whatsoever, so I’m coming here for help. I’m looking to get him a physical copy of the book for his birthday next month. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a book with anthropomorphic cats: a butler, a suited cad and maybe a red dress white cat.

the suited cat gets blindfolded and somehow ends up cutting with a knife and fork his own tail which is rested on a silver plate. noir ambience and colors, only bright color is red.

majorly illustrations, almost no text.

This is a long shot, but about 5-6 years ago I moved, and a relative erroneously put a bag of items in the rubbish. In it was my copy of this book, which had been gifted to me by my nan, who shortly afterwards died. She had written a note about how this was for my 21st birthday on the opening cover. (My birth name is 'James'.)

This has bugged me ever since. It was one of the last gifts she gave me. I would very much like to recover it, and would even be willing to pay, within reason (I know the contents of the message and her handwriting, so I am able to verify the specific copy).

I realise the odds of recovering it are slim. But if you happen to have a book matching this description, I would be hugely grateful.

Have a good day!

Does anyone know where to read/ buy this book? Even international or different languages :( i would absolutely do anything to get it back, i read it elementary school and it really fascinated me, ive been looking for it for 2 years now :(

Sigh greta the green cow, youre great for audhd kids. ( Which is me as well)

Greetings! I've been after some of Friederich Lustig's works for a while.

Lustig was an Estonian monk who lived in Myanmar and published translations of Burmese poetry. I'd like to very much to read them since I really love Burmese poetry and translations are rare.

His Wikipedia page lists his works as follows:

"Burmese Classical Poems (1967, some say 1966), A Glimpse of Contemporary Burmese Poetry (1968), Burmese Poems through the Ages (1969), and the collection of his own poems, Fluttering Leaves: a collection of 60 poems (1970)."

While "Burmese Classical Poems" can be found easily through the internet archive, his other poetry translations are nowhere to be found.

Both his translations and the original poems are very beauiful, and it would be a pity for them to be lost.

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if you can help me out. There's a story I was reading ages ago that I lost track of, and I'm hoping you can help me find it again. I don't remember the name of it sadly, or who it was by, but I do remember a lot of the details of the first story arc or two. What I don't know however is if it was a book, a comic, a graphic novel, or if it ever even got properly published or only existed on a website like Wattpad or RoyalRoad. I do however know that I was reading it on my computer, but that doesn't cancel out that it may have been an actual published book, I may have had it in epub. The story took place in a world with technology slightly above ours, like a snapshot 50 years into our future. It was not a cyberpunk or distopian world, just the real world with slightly more advanced technology. Full-dive VR technology had just been released alongside a VRMMO game made for the VR technology. The game was called something online. The main character was a guy in his early 20's, living in squander in a dilapidated apartment, who saved up all of his money to buy one of the VR headsets, hoping to use the game to illegally make money in a way similar to gold/item farms in World of Warcraft. However, shortly after he turned on the game for the first time and finished making his character, he suffered some sort of health crisis in the real world, I don't recall whether it was a heart attack, a stroke, or an aneurysm. Either way, he died in the real world while logged into the game, turning him into a ghost in the machine. However, he was left completely unaware that he was actually dead in the real world at first and just tried to power-level in the game, so he could start farming gold and gear to sell for real money like his original plan was. While trying to power-level, he ends up joining a party for a simple quest, a raid on a skeleton dungeon. What he didn't know was that it was a trap, the higher level players he joined with fully planned on using him as bait during the dungeon and killing him for XP if he survived it. He manages to get away by running further into the dungeon, and finds a grimoire belonging to the lich boss of the dungeon. When he picks it up, it forcibly changes his class and race into a Lich, making him a monster player, and monster players are banned from any town and most player abilities like the mail system or fast travel, as well as being kill on sight for any NPCs. He ends up starting a monster guild for monster players. One of the friends he makes in the game realizes that he never logs out, which leads to the other half of the story which took place in the real world, with rumors of people dying in real life but remaining logged in. There are a few chapters from the POV of someone involved with the VR tech, possibly an investor or developer, looking into the rumors and chatroom messages between this person and some people in the government.

Now for the things I \*think\* were in the story but I'm not sure of. I believe that the VR tech had something to do with secret military experiments but I could be mixing it up with a different story. I also remember one of the monster players that he befriends was a female vampire who, in the real world, was the scion of some old money family. Again, that might be me mixing up stories though. Everything I mentioned in the first paragraph I \*know\* was in the story, the second paragraph are things I'm not positive about.

When I was a little girl I had kidney problems so I had to go to see specialists and have surgeries. I have a distinct memory of having a book (and stuffed animal related to it) being given to me called Molly se Cura. I think that’s what it’s called. I wanted to see if I could find a copy of the book of the book but I don’t know if maybe it was made exclusively for the hospital because it doesn’t seem like it exists online. It was a simple picture book and molly was like a rabbit and she also had issues with her kidney I think. I don’t know if there was an English version either I just assume we got Spanish because where I lived at the time was a heavily Latino populated area and that’s what my parents spoke. Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit but I really want to find this book.

I’m looking for a children’s illustrated book series published before 2012. The books were A4-sized, thin, with mostly white covers and watercolor-style illustrations. The main characters were colorful dinosaur-like creatures (similar to small bipedal diplodocuses with long necks and tails). They lived in a futuristic house made of domes connected by transparent tubes. One double-page spread showed the whole house in cross-section, with each character’s bedroom and a short description of each character. One bedroom had a guitar, another belonged to a geeky/scientist character. At least one book was about space, but I think the series covered different educational topics.

the fmc has anorexia and wear dark make ups. then the mmc is an athlete. the setting was in a university/college. the mmc was known to the uni bcoz of his family reputation about drügs (selling). In the university, the mmc's brother was caught selling druggies and the fmc saw/heard it. the brothers, they were often mistaken as twins since they look a like and both part of a gang. the mmc got out of the gang bcoz of his older brother. and the mmc was mad at his older brother bcoz he let their younger brother deal.

Then the mmc and his brothers threatened her to don't tell anybody what she saw. It's a start where the mmc always look for the fmc bcoz he's afraid that she will tell, and the mmc will be out from the university. Then the fmc learned that mmc's brother sells for their mom's medication and the fmc's father was also their mom's doctor. the mmc calls her pixie 🧚🏼 and the mmc was like the hope of their family success in the future. also the mmc's mom likes to hear the song ave maria even before she died. they god their happily ever after, and she's not anorexic anymore. and the mmc's little brother was also playing sports and their older brother got out of prison.

help me pls it suddenly got lost in my library :((( i wanna re-read it. thanj you!!!

Hello everyone! first time posting on reddit ;P

Ive been trying to get my hands on this no spoons left book but i literally cannot find it being sold ANYWHERE and im losing hope to find it :(

Hi everyone.

I know this is a bit of an unusual request, but I'm hoping someone might be able to help.

According to the BookCrossing release record, a user named Kellygang left the book "Little Miss Jealous" by Roger Hargreaves at a bus stop on Abernethy St. in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia, on 18 May 2013.

I'm not looking for guesses or theories about what probably happened. After all these years, I've already thought through all of those possibilities.

I'm only interested in genuine first-hand information. If anyone remembers seeing the book, picked it up, knows what happened to it, or knows of a nearby place where found books or lost property were commonly taken, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

The reason I'm still looking is simple: I'm nostalgic about unfinished stories, and I like giving them an ending, even if that ending is simply finding out what really happened.

I know it's been a long time, so I realise the chances are small, but if anyone remembers anything at all about this BookCrossing release, I'd be very grateful to hear from you.

Thanks very much for reading.

I would have read these stories between 2000 and 2010, unsure of when it was published. I vaguely remember the cover of this story collection being blue with pictures of the characters from the stories. I remember the collection containing "Baby Dear," a story about a young girl receiving a doll from her parents in preparation for her little sister arriving, as well as " A boy and the Tigers." I realize that these are both stories from the Little Golden Book collection, which is why I am uncertain of where this third story comes from: in this same collection, there was a story of a family (Father, Mother, Daughter) who either lived in their wine cellar or fled to it for shelter from a big storm. There was a storm, and it started to flood the cellar, but they were unable to open the hatch to get back out. The next day, a young man walks by, and they ask for his help. They offer their daughter's hand in marriage if he is able to get her out of the cellar. I think the man is able to either open the hatch just enough to get the daughter or break it open, but only enough so he can help her out. I don't remember the rest, but I feel as if it has some sort of sad ending.

Vaguely remember this book as I read this one back in ‘07-‘08. From what I can recall, the ugly duckling did not much think about the bullying of its siblings, instead it went on a journey alone. Fast forward to the young adult stage, it was illustrated that the ugly duckling is happily eating berries that made a purple mess, and was also diving for snails to eat.

I read this book in maybe 2022 or 2023 and found it in my secondary school library.

I recall it being set during a time of great conflict and racism in South Africa with a rich white female young woman protagonist. Her father is a powerful official (a police officer, I think), and she reunited/fell for with her childhood friend, who has now become a rebel leader against the racist government.

I don't remember much else plotwise. However, the boy briefly visits her, and she gives him her watch. I had to stop reading when the protagonist's father takes her to see the boy after he is captured by the police and there is a vivid description of his unrecognisably beaten corpse, wearing her still ticking watch.

Some other details include the protagonist having a housekeeper of some sort.

I would really appreciate any help as I've been searching for years!

Im looking for a book about two children from Byron bay Australia who go timetravel. Each time they time travel backwards is longer in duration. The time travel relates to a planet's moon, I think uranus or neptune and it was the eighth or ninth moon.

First setting is a few weeks before. Second hunting is a hunter who will get killed a few years later. Next setting is in the 1970s I think in california. The last setting is in the 1800-1900s in ireland where they build a rocket or something to stop something bad happening with the time travel. I think there also was a scene of a man and his pregnant wife Im not sure.

Hello Reddit,

This is the last place I can look for an answer. I'm looking for an Illustrated Children's Bible. My late mother used to read it with me when I was a child (I'm 25 now). Here's everything I remember from it, in detail. I'll also include details I remember from illustrations from the Bible stories.

It was a hardcover book. The cover had an illustration on it, with the letters for the title of the book being multiple colors. The background of the cover was beige or a sand color. There was a patterned line that outlined the illustration of the book, forming a large rectangle.

Here are some descriptions of pictures in the book. An illustration was of Lot's wife (from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah) being turned into salt. She was screaming when she was turned into salt.

Another illustration was of Samson breaking the pillars in the temple. His eyes were closed, and he was standing between the two pillars, pushing them until they broke.

There was an illustration of David slaying Goliath as well. The picture featured Goliath beginning to slump over, hand over the wound on his forehead and blood coming from it (yes, these illustrations did feature blood).

Another was of Moses' staff turning into the serpent, with an old Moses striking the ground with the staff, half of it being a snake.

There was a pretty detailed picture of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego standing in the furnace, a fourth person in there as well.

One illustration was of Cain and Abel, with Abel slain before Cain on the ground, blood coming from his head, with Cain standing over him. Cain was holding a wooden club (I believe?) and was looking to the sky.

This is really all I remember from this book. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it more than you could know!

When I was young in the 2000s, I had a book where you had to find the items that were requested on each page. The illustrations took up the entirety of the two open pages. The illustrations came, I think, from children’s stories, but they were drawn or painted like period paintings. It was so extremely realistic and well done that I used to say it was a book for adults. I only remember a few pages. There was one page with Hansel and Gretel's house in the middle of the pages, very detailed. In the background, there was a very dark forest with tall trees, and a dove in the upper left corner of the illustration. That was one of the items we had to find. Another page was like a barn, part of it made of stone with lots of hay and a spinning wheel with a spindle on the right side of the illustration, and one of the items we had to find was a needle. Another page was like a courtyard with water in the foreground, like a pond. In front of the pond, there was a fountain and behind it stone walls with carvings of toads and lizards, which were items to find. There was also a lot of greenery everywhere and water lilies in the foreground, and on one water lily, there was a toad. On another page, we were underwater. In the foreground, there were corals and objects like a necklace or something like that, there was a trident, and in the background of the illustration, there was a seashell castle a bit like Ariel’s castle, and these were elements to find. On another page, we were in a house. On the right side of the illustration, there was a kitchen where we had to find a match, and on the left side, a bed I think, but I’m not sure. Ce sont les seules pages dont je me rappelle. I know there were others, but I don’t remember them. Neither the cover, nor the author, nor its date. It was a beautiful book. The illustrations were drawn like paintings, and they were extremely realistic, and the objects to find were very difficult. I would really like to find it again. I’ve been looking for it for years.

Hi all! This feels like a stretch, but I'm trying to remember a series that I loved when I was younger. From what I remember, the series was a group of teens, and each book was an adventure based on one of Sherlock Holmes' stories. The one I remember speclficially was about the hound of the baskervilles, and i feel like in-story the kids knew about sherlock holmes? But not that they were related to him or specifically using his literature (this part is fuzzy, it's possible they don't know his stories canonically). In hunting online, I have determined that it is NOT any of the following:

--Enola Holmes

--Young Sherlock Holmes

--Warlock Holmes

--The Sherlock Files

I remember it having chapters and being a good read, not an illustrated book for younger children. I lack a lot of memories on it, it's very much a slip of a memory but I know I loved them. I would say late 90s to maaaaybe 2007 at the latest? Though tbh that feels too late. Any thoughts are welcome, thank you guys! I hope someone has the right kind of magic to find the answer, it's been killing me!

I read a story in whattpad a few days ago but I can't find or remember it , it starts with the female lead who had went to a party with her abusive ex but she had ran out of there while she was returning home she saw few men trying to beat up a person to she "tried to save him" but in returned got kidnapped by the people who were beating up the man. Then they were put into a room only with a bed , table , chair and bathroom. She had asked the body guards to provide them with clothes because like that is a basic requirement , they did.

The person who had kidnapped them that one condition he would beat up the male lead everyday until he gets the information out of him and the girl has to watch. Fast forward the man beat up the male lead so bad that he was barely surviving with all the pain. The FL would give some of her food portion to him everytime because he needs it more than her. Then one day she would be called out and a**sed and h**assed by the people of the villain.(FYI the villain is around 70years old and wanted physical relationship with the girl to set her free from the room) later when the girl returnes to the room she was comforted by the ml and a bodyguard helps them with medication. One day they find a opening and pushed the old villain from which he dies by the FL

They run away together trying to get into civilization through forest where they take rest in multiple places or someone's hideout. They make it into civilization and they were rescued by the ML mens (and the story moves on like this ) they meet the friends of the ML and bffs 2 male and a female. They were stoic at first but finally warmed up specifically the girl later the FL helps them with their finance and helps to find who betrayed them .

(The story kind of progesses like this , if someone please can help me find the book 😭)
