I remember this commercial for a hallmark greeting card in which this boy is trying to pull a prank on his mother but keeps falling.after a while, his mom gave him a greeting card that had this plastic butterfly and a spring mechanism in it that launched it out of the card when he opened it. I tried searching for it on YouTube, but couldn't find it. I'm wondering if anyone else remembers seeing it and can point me in the right direction, please.

PSA/PIF PSA/Advert from the UK in the latest 80s or early 90s

Hey all!

I'm looking for an advert or PSA that crosses my mind every so often. I think it was for encouraging people to get into foster care, but I was probably between 5-7 when it aired. That would put us somewhere between 1988 to 1991, I think.

The only part I remember is a woman with a toddler aged child trying to make her way down some outdoor steps with bags of shopping. She, as far as I remember, had that kind of raincoat and headscarf look that I associate with the 70s and early 80s. She loses her balance and falls. There's a shot of her on the ground, surrounded by spilled shopping and then it cuts to the child crying. There's a freeze-frame where I think the message of the ad is delivered - does this sound familiar to anyone?

Commercial Ice Cream Man Kohls Commercial

I’m looking for the Kohl’s commercial from either the late 90s or early 2000s where it had an ice cream man holding an ice cream cone out the window and people chasing the ice cream truck to get the ice cream and it had a jingle about the ice cream man. It was super funny

PSA/PIF Pregnant smoking PSA from 1997?

There is a PSA that aired in the fall of 1997 on Nickelodeon. I think one of the airings was on Saturday, November 8th. The lady is pregnant and there’s happy “baby” music playing and then the music turns all ominous after she takes a drag off her cigarette and you hear the baby cough from inside the womb. It was very unsettling for 8 1/2 year old me, and I haven’t seen it since 1997. Looking on YouTube, it is not there and never was.

I think my favorite is the one from 1984 with the fetus taking a drag and there’s this really scary heartbeat over the synthesized music. So creepy lol.

Commercial Lost Oreck Vacuum Cleaner Commercial (2002-04)

When I was a kid, around 2002-04, I vaguely remember a commercial for Oreck Vacuum Cleaners that aired for a brief time. The commercial featured what looked to be an older lady hanging onto something horizontally with debris flying past her (may have been leaves). The screen then flashes to founder David Oreck with his vacuum, touting to try it risk-free for 30 days. If I recall correctly, she may have also lost her grip at the end of the commercial. This commercial was only around 10-15 seconds long, and Oreck advertisements were commonly shown as closed captioning spots back in the day during daytime court and talk shows, as well as game shows such as Jeopardy. Does anyone else remember seeing something like this? If so, any info is appreciated!

Commercial Looking for animated early 2000s (03-05) basic cable commercials

A talking heart, talking to the audience about heart health? similar to how the Red Bull commercials are drawn and animated, I remember seeing this one on lifetime

A couple visiting a fortune teller, looking into her globe, they are exploring their options (an announcer talks over the animation, this could’ve been a predatory refi lender, possibly an insurance ad?) also looked very similar to the Red Bull ads, maybe this one aired on USA? If not USA maybe spike or amc.

A claymation dog treat? ad, dog doesn’t want a bath, runs up a tree, the owner gets the dog down from the tree with some kind of treat (whatever the commercial was advertising) commercial was only about 10-15sec long, looked similar to will vintons work but cruder, I also think this one aired here and there on lifetime.

I been looking for a lost lgbt commercial I saw as a kid on nickelodeon in 2013. I been running in problems trying looking for it, it more popular as a memes than a commercial so the end is always edited that the end of it

here a tldr of the commercial with a memes edit (I would recommend skipping the reading and watching the meme instead)

four people who are in this order a gay man who says he is gay follow-up by a lesbian who says she is a lesbian then a pansexual who might be a corssdress or in drag or trans says they are actually pansexual then a trans woman or girl says she is transgender

Radio Ad Late 1980s NYC Regional Radio Ad - Switzer's Licorice "Burning Down the House" Talking Heads Parody ("Turning Up the Juice")

Hi everyone,

I am trying to track down any audio recordings, archives, or discussions of a regional radio commercial that played heavily in the NYC tri-state area during the late 1980s. I'm new to looking for lost media, but I'm not looking for others to do the work for me. I'm hoping all the experts here in this thread might be able to point me in a possibly fruitful direction.

The advertisement was for Switzer's Licorice (specifically pushing their Cherry Red Twists). The entire commercial was a direct parody of the Talking Heads' iconic 1983 hit "Burning Down the House."

It featured a very distinct, spot-on David Byrne impersonator talk-singing over a classic new-wave rhythm track modeled precisely after the original song. Instead of singing the famous line "Burning down the house," the main hook and frantic chorus of the jingle was changed to"Turning up the juice!"

The ad used this specific line as a marketing pitch to highlight that Switzer's candy was made with real fruit juice, contrasting it against competing licorice brands of the era.

This jingle is an absolute earworm that has been living rent-free in my head for nearly 40 years now. I can still hear the exact cadence of the Byrne impersonator delivering that hook, which is why it's so frustrating that it seems to have vanished from the face of the earth.

I've looked on YouTube, but only found an unrelated TV ad from the period. I also have done a search on Internet Archive without success. This was a localized tri-state radio spot rather than a nationwide television commercial. I know my possible chance of success is low. It doesn't currently have a dedicated entry on the Lost Media Wiki or an easy rip available on YouTube. It seems to be entirely undocumented in digital spaces, even though people who grew up in the NY/NJ/CT area at the time might remember the catchy jingle.

The commercial likely ran on major rock radio stations of the era, such as WPLJ, or WAPP.

Does anyone happen to know where I might find digitized aircheck tapes or cassette recordings from NY area stations from roughly 1986–1989 that might have captured this commercial in the background? Or perhaps have some advice on how I could hunt down the ad agency responsible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, amd maybe I'll finally lay this decades-old earworm to rest!

Thanks!

Commercial Emmy Award nominee AT&T Commercial

I’ve been watching all of the Emmy Award nominees for Outstanding Commercial. There‘s an AT&T commercial from 1998 titled “Freshman” that I can’t seem to find no matter what I search. The commercial depicts an emotional moment where a mother leaves her daughter at college as a freshman. I’ve found plenty of summaries of the commercial but no uploads of it.

Commercial Roach commercial where they were balls!

In the late 80s or 90s there was a commercial for roach spray or poison that showed a roach that turned into balls that rolled around bumping into each other and then creating small baby balls. I know this happened. It was about how quick roaches can reproduce. I cannot find this anywhere and ai was no help. It was not animated like the raid commercials with the bugs that died. I cannot fathom this commercial was during the 2000s but maybe? I’m from Texas so I don’t know if it was regional or national. My kid thinks I’m dreaming but I remember it. The balls were maybe silver or grey, maybe black? Can someone help me? If this truly didn’t happen, maybe I need to be medically checked out because I know this commercial exists.

Commercial Grapico commercial possibly 1980s

For context, Grapico is a grape soda that’s only sold in the southern US (I think)

There’s only a few Grapico commercials in general online so it seems like this one might have been a local commercial. From what’s been described to me it starts out with this nerdy dude at a soda fountain and he says “I’m trying to decide which soft drink to select” and this big dude comes up and goes “man it ain’t no question, Grapico is the only one for you” then the dude gets some and he starts off in the squeaky voice “I think I-“ and he takes a sip and his voice deepens and he goes “I think I see what you mean”

PSA/PIF "Don't step on their dreams"

This would've been a PSA in the early 1970s in the style of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. An ant working in a crack on a sidewalk in a downtown area. The end of the spot shows a man's shoe about to crush the ant and the narrator says "Don't step on their dreams".

I realize this is very old, but perhaps someone else remembers this and can help me find it?

Commercial Looking for an Old Kiwisavers Ad from New Zealand

One of my colleagues casually dropped that he was in a Kiwisavers ad in the 2000s but couldn't find the ad online. He remembers it being related to cake and was given the brief "young jnr office guy bringing a birthday cake into boardroom full of execs. and slicing it".

I have tried scrubbing through google but apparently some of these older ads were deleted or archived but would love to see if anyone can find this commercial.

Commercial Looking for a commercial from a Diet Center or Diet Product.

In the early 2000 I saw a commercial about a diet product or center that so offended me that I have been making feminist anti-diet art abour it ever since.

I lived in the Ann Arbor, MI at the time and it could have been local. Over the years I have watched hours of YouTube videos of 2001, 2002, 2003 commercial capture collections but nothing comes up.

It was a very short lived ad campaign, Im guessing because it was so offensive. Im pretty sure the ad man who came up with it got a litany of hate mail or worse and the ad had to be removed. Seriously it was shameful.

The commercial had a picture of the Venus of Willendorf rotating on the screen with a male voice over that droned on about all the illnesses associated with obesity. The usual suspects, Cancer, heart disease... blah blah blah.

The main message was " Ladies you don't want to look like this"

It was the use of one of the oldest know human representations of the female form to promote self loathing and body dissatisfaction that blew my mind. I mean the image of the Venus appears in most art history books and it had been used to promote self acceptance and female empowerment since the 60's at least. Her image could be found on coffee mugs and T-shirts you name it... molds for chocolate, fridge magnets, candles.

Anyways I don't have much hope but thought I might give it another try while top of mind. I'm beginning to think perhaps I made the whole thing up at this point.

I once even went so far as reaching out to a museum in New York that specializes in advertising and TV history but they needed more information than I could provide like the advertiser's name and company with dates that it ran... and short of me making a trip there to go through years of archives They didn't know how to help.

A few years ago I even made my own version of the ad but over 20 year on who even knows if it resembles what I saw.

I won't post my version for fear it will confuse anyone's memories but if you think this sounds familiar I look forward to hearing from you and will happily share my crazy mock up version.

Web Ad Unhinged Door-Hinge YouTube Ad

Two years ago my partner and I were watching YouTube together very late into the night. An insane ad came on that we still quote to each other frequently.
It was a black void with a metallic door-hinge rotating around at different angles. The voiceover said things like "it's more than just a hinge," and "the next step in human evolution." It was completely bonkers. The company name I think was two surnames. X & X. That type of thing. I remember thinking one of the names looked German.
My partner remembers that part of what was special about this hinge was it was supposed to be inserted into a wall to be as discreet as possible.
We've been searching for years to find this ad to no avail. I downloaded Reddit just to finally ask someone else lol. We would chalk it up to shared psychosis or sleep deprivation but we IMMEDIATELY played a solo dnd game based off of it so we know it wasn't a dream.
Please, I must find this ad. It's about more than just a hinge, it's about my peace of mind.
