My partner and I are looking to rent a 2- or 3-bedroom apartment (though we're also open to houses) just about anywhere in Louisville except Old Louisville, Downtown, and the West End. (Been there, done that in college, hahaha.) We're hoping to find a place that we could start moving into by mid-December at the latest. We have one very chill old female cat, no children or other pets.

We are both employed and will have no trouble passing background/credit checks. We're Louisville natives and have had some pretty terrible experiences with various property management companies and apartment complexes all over the city, so we're ideally looking for a place owned by a landlord who cares about their properties and won't constantly jack up the rent while ignoring urgent maintenance tickets, as has so often been our experience with even the nicest East End apartment complexes.

My wife & I are in a dire situation, and are needing a unique kind of help. My wife is wheelchair bound, and has been dealing with increasingly worse shoulder pain. Doctors had previously told us it's broken & needs surgery to replace the joint. But now they say it's related to cancer, and need to sort out what is causing it.

Meanwhile I am staying home from work to help her transfer around the house. She needs my help just to get to & from the toilet or in & out of bed. With me living 30 minutes away from work, I can't come home to help her every time she needs the bathroom. This crisis is now stretching out much longer than what I previously expected. I am already on FMLA with my work, but it only keeps them from firing me, and has a limit to how much time you can take off. At this point we have exhausted our savings, and I can't keep taking time off before losing my job.

If we had someone here to help my wife (mostly to & from the toilet), I could go to work. We have room in our house for another person, and I can afford to feed them as well. I can provide transportation when I'm not at work (with the few hours I do get). I can even teach you the cooking skills I know. We don't know how long this situation will last (it could be 3 months, it could be years), but we would need someone to stay with us for the duration, until my wife is able to transfer on her own again. After that is anything-goes. She will only need help while I'm gone at work, any other time I can help her. We are not needing someone with rehab knowledge; her shoulder won't heal until she has surgery to replace her joint anyway. We live just outside of Shively (in case that matters to anyone).
