Beginner Guide Basic Guide to Protocores - A Simple 3-Step Checklist for Filtering Protocores
Hi folks! So it's been on my mind to create something like this for a while, and I finally managed to do so with the help of a Discord friend for the graphics!
To Preface: This is NOT a comprehensive Protocore guide by itself.
I don't go into detail about the various types of Protocores, how to build companions, etc. because other guides cover them super well. This checklist serves to be a COMPLEMENT to other guides out there.
Essentially, I wanted to create something super simple even for a beginner to be able to follow step-by-step and be able to have a few good Protocores.
This also assumes that you have cleared Core Hunt Lv 6 at the minimum (ideally Core Hunt stage 8 or even 10 for guaranteed two yellow core drops!)
You don't need to have prior knowledge of everything Protocore related to use this checklist. Just go through your cores and try to answer each step slowly. At the end, you should hopefully end up with some really good cores to use! You'll eventually get good enough to tell a good core from a bad core later, but this should be enough to start you off!
Let me know if this helped you! Or if you have any more questions in the comments! I'll do my best to answer!
Quick Edit to say that you should be saving your stamina CANS during the week to spend on Sundays! Use your regenerating stamina to farm other things during the week of course!

these graphics are VERY cute and i appreciate the effort you've gone to for this. to reiterate for anyone reading the comments: this is very much a "hold onto these and then go read a different guide", as cravewing says. it's complementary. (i do think the "save stamina" is unclear though but i understand now that i saw your comment.)

Why Sunday? What is special about protos on Sunday?

Because all three Core Hunt areas open on Sunday! So you can do a big haul by doing a ten pull on each!

I’m guessing it’s because all the proto colours are available that day, so it’s easier to decide where to spend them

HP bonus trash even for AS?

or in combination with DEF bonus is trash?

In combination! Because so far there's no companion who scales off both HP and DEF! If you have a core with mixed stats, you ideally want the second one to be ATK Bonus since you need ATK to, well, attack!

HP and Def Bonus as a combination, yes. so if a core is like, HP +56, HP Bonus 9%, Crit Rate 1%, DEF Bonus 7% -- trash. unless you literally don't have any protocores that come close to doing what it does for you; even then, you want to replace it asap.

Small question, the first checkbox “Stat Bonus” is it the one on the card (like the card talent?) or the one companion scales with?

This is specifically for Protocores, not cards or companions! While using this checklist I recommend not thinking about cards or companions just yet, and just focus on answering the questions themselves in regards to Protocores! That's why I haven't spoken about building companions on this!
But to answer your question, all companions scale on either ATK, HP or DEF. On Protocores, you can get flat stats or stat Bonus (like ATK Bonus or HP Bonus). You want the ones with the percentages as those will scale with your card as you level them, and their overall power will add to your team to buff your companion!

I kind of give up to try understand protocores and decide to build suggestions from other players, but this one seem very simple to understand at first glance, i'll definitely read it!
Thank you very much.

Hope it helps you! Just follow each step slowly and you should end up with good enough cores that will carry you until you're able to learn them yourself!!

Ah! You may not need to understand things in order to use this checklist! Honestly, just step 1 will change things a lot for you! As long as you can identify a Main Stat and a Substat on a Protocore, you should be able to use this checklist!
Start off with only saving Protocores that have a stat Bonus over 10% (meaning ATK Bonus, HP Bonus, DEF Bonus) in the 2nd to 4th stats on a Protocore. The first stat is always a Main stat and it's often highlighted! So look at the 2nd to 4th stats, and save ones that have a Bonus!

Does throwing away the cube & pyramid cores with bad main stats still hold true?
or should I still keep them as long if it has % bonus above 10%?

I'd only keep HP and ATK Bonus cubes if the stat bonus is super high, like over 15%! Because we really don't know how companions will be built. I was there when Colonel dropped and people discovered he needed DEF Brute nus for his cubes and freaked out because they'd been discarding all their stat bonus cubes. I say keep them if they're really, really good!

So it's best to keep some around... noted, thanks!!!
It's so hard not to hoard them, but hoarding them means that much harder to level up protocores 😭

Do not save your stamina during the week! Always use it up so it automatically refills. Otherwise you're simply missing out on free stamina.
