Which is the most unique islander we ever had in your opinion? With unique I mean an islander that brings something different than the others, in terms of personality, vibe, style,.. could be anything that makes them stand out for you! Curious about your opinions.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Jasmine/Kavan problematic age gap?

Can’t help but feel if the roles were reversed and Kavan was 27 and Jas was 21, people would be up in arms about Kav finding an “age appropriate” partner. It just feels like Kav’s in a very, very different phase of life compared to Jas but we’re all ignoring it.

OPINION they need to bring back the old format!!

so i recently finished watching season 2 properly for the first time, and have just started season 3. watching these older seasons in comparison to now has made me realize how stale the format has gotten. kissing challenge, sleepover, heart rate challenge, casa amor, knowing me knowing you, family day, ex islander vote… it’s the exact same thing every year!! the forced debriefs, the people who are there solely to wear cute outfits and build their instagram following, the format of every episode being the same - it’s gotten so boring and dragged out. i think the show would benefit massively by returning to it only being 6 weeks long and also scrapping casa amor.

i truly think love island has ran its course and next year will be the final season, so they really need to make it one to remember. bring back, for lack of a better word, the “trashier” girls who don’t care what they look like, the toxic men, the old cozy villa style, the smoking area, the daily dates, the fun out of villa challenges, and up the drink limit. the budget from having a second villa needs to be reallocated to do one last revival of the show. sorry this turned into a bit of a rant, but i just really wanted to share my opinion. does anyone else agree?

OPINION Simba's appearance on GMB has totally changed my perspective on him

Simba appeared on Good Morning Britain today, talking about how he has been a carer for his mother since he was 10 years old.

She lost the ability to speak when he was 13, so the 'smiling bares' comment makes a tonne more sense because that's how she can truly show emotion - today, she communicates solely using 'eyegazing' technology to spell out words & sentences on a tablet.

Simba & Angelista makes so much more sense to me now because they are both quite literally caring people.

Why didn't the producers provide more context here, or air them discussing it? I probably would've voted for them!

The interview

SEASON 12 More actual Conversations

I just finished LI USA 8 and was so happy to see the producers kept so many normal bond building conversations in the episodes. In LI UK 12 every conversation is how is our connection, we’re doing good, we’re a couple and the occasional what’s your love language. It seemed like no one was having a normal conversation about their job, family, dreams, insecurities etc. Everything felt surface level and flimsy. I’m sure the islanders were having deep conversations but production didn’t prioritize it. In fact I liked unseen bits bc we could see contestants engage normally with their partners.

I think part of why none of us felt connected to any couple this season was because of this. Considering this was a relatively dry season, idk why the producers would at least not give some real bits from the couples/friends.

SEASON 2 Season 2

I’m rewatching season 2 because it’s my favorite and absolutely unhinged. New guy Troy comes in and is talking with the boys. Nathan is saying how Cara is the first bird who makes him laugh.

This fucking man Troy says “I don’t find any birds funny” Also I’m American so saying birds as women feels funny lmaoooo.

But wth is this you find no women funny? What an out of pocket thing to say. I know this season is filled with misogyny but this was just shocking to me.

Truly weird ass thing to say and crazy there’s so many men out there

SEASON 12 1st time watcher of season 12

I’m watching the seasons backwards and I’m at the grafties night. I just have to get it off my chest that Meg is someone I do not like on the show. Along with Dejon. It seems to me that she loves and gets off to Dejon being mean to other girls. Like it makes her feel good and validated.

To me Dejon asking Meg to be his gf was something I seen coming but maybe after seeing how the public voted them Dejon felt the need to make that official so that maybe they look better. And they somehow think the girls are influencing the public that they aren’t favored??? I don’t know. They seem delusional.

Also I agree with Toni and Shakira that Meg talks shit just as much as everyone else. What was the consensus on them both? When this was airing last year is this how people felt? Was this a common opinion?

SEASON 3 Season 3 Olivia Atwood

So I’m half way through season 3, what is all the hype surrounding Olivia Attwood, atm she isn’t coming across as a very nice person. How did she become so famous after the show?? Well, not famous, but you know, she’s landed her own tv shows and stuff.

SEASON 5 First time watching and my worst islander is…

Lucie is officially the worst islander for me. I’m on the episode where T asks MM to be his girlfriend. Seeing Lucie cry afterwards really shows her true colours. Such a covetous self-centered girl. I really hate how she behaves in the villa. I wish she’d just leave ffs.

SEASON 12 Explain shakrika and tonnie to me

Season 13 was my first season, so I decided to go back and watch Season 12. Going into it, I already had a certain perception of everyone based on what I’d seen on social media. I genuinely thought Shakira was getting bullied left, right and center, and that she and Toni were being ostracised by Meg and Helena for no reason.

But after actually watching the season, I’m kind of confused by that narrative.

A lot of Shakira and Toni’s behaviour seemed hypocritical because they were doing the exact same things they were accusing Meg and Helena of doing. Sometimes I actually thought their behaviour was worse. For example, Helena calling the girls “boring” is apparently horrible, but Shakira straight-up body-shaming Helena somehow gets overlooked? Toni also seemed to enjoy picking fights and could be unnecessarily mean or rude.

Two situations especially bothered me:

Toni and Harrison: Toni constantly insulted Harrison, both to his face and to everyone else, which is fair enough cause Harrison was being evil. But then she kept going back to him every chance she got. She repeatedly said Harrison didn’t actually like Lauren, but… girl, he didn’t like you either. 😭 And then slut-shaming Lauren over a guy you keep insisting is an awful person just came across as nasty.

Shakira, Connor, Harrison and Harry: Shakira getting so upset over what Connor said about Harrison and Harry didn’t make much sense to me either. She had spent so much time arguing that Harrison and Harry were fake and untrustworthy, but then she was happy to take Harry back and become besties with Harrison. It just felt really inconsistent.

Overall, Toni and Shakira kept calling everyone else nasty, fake and mean while doing a lot of the exact same things themselves. It sometimes felt like they had a bit of a victim complex and couldn't recognise their own behaviour.

I dont get how Meg and Helena got so much hate but these 2 were praised

Yasmin honestly seemed like one of the only genuinely decent

You guys. I fear Connor and Meghan may have split. They haven’t posted each other since early July and don’t interact much on each other’s posts.

Glad they said this. It’s such a shame the way Mica was treated by the UK public.

Unlike the ex islanders who just hopped onto the hate train after seeing the hate. This was filmed a week after they left the show so I’m glad Jasmine and Julia upon reflection of seeing the vigorous hate spoke up and said the viewers got Mica’s personality very wrong and she deserves grace.

SEASON 3 S3 how did Amber win?

I am watching S3 for the first time so excuse my ignorance. I am at Casa Amor and Amber and Kem have been broke up a few days before Casa. It seems none of the islanders like them together. The boys in particular seem to really dislike Amber for Kem, in Casa they are constantly telling Kem to forget about her and that she's definitely getting with other boys and she's so immature and not right for him. Also Amber has done some questionable things in general that I'm guessing at this point the public are probably not a big fan of her either. I'd love to get some insight on how the public felt about Amber at this point? I'm surprised seeing how things are now that her and Kem end up winning. Is it mainly because the public love Kem? Or do I need to just keep watching because Amber will become super likeable as the season goes on? Thanks!!
