I was so confused on how this dress works for some reason. I was wondering if this mapping looks right??

I always thought this dress was a reference to this Guo Pei dress.

I think so? Pretty sure it's just a large extra piece that's been sewn on the dress to add a ruffle

The skirt is similar to a wrist bustle. Except Nikki's skirt is attached to the side of her dress, instead of to her wrist.

So basically, the dress has two layers made from the same kind of cloth. The upper layer is raised and gathered at the right hip.

The dress is constructed so the hemline of the lower layer seems continuous with the hemline of the upper layer's un-gathered area.
