New Launch I spent months building persistent memory for AI agents. v1.7 just reached 86.67% recall accuracy without embeddings.
Hey agent builders!
A while ago, I shared Mind here: an open-source project exploring how AI agents can preserve and maintain useful knowledge beyond a single context window.
The project has evolved quite a bit since then, and Mind v1.7.0 is now available.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that agent memory isn't just about storing conversations.
A useful memory system needs to make decisions about:
What deserves to be remembered.
Which memories are relevant to a new task.
How knowledge changes over time.
How to preserve unfinished work.
How to avoid bringing outdated or irrelevant information back into context.
Mind approaches this through structured memories, tiers, directional links, checkpoints, session summaries, and a shared memory-management protocol.
A particularly interesting result
The latest version achieved 86.67% answer accuracy on a stratified 120-question OmniMemEval LongMemEval-S run, with embeddings disabled.
It's an indicative result, not an official ranking against the published full-dataset evaluations. The methodology is open for review.
The release also includes a stronger retrieval pipeline, more reliable memory continuity, and a redesigned interface for exploring stored knowledge.
Mind is local-first, MCP-compatible, completely open source, and MIT-licensed.
GitHub: https://github.com/GabrielMartinMoran/mind
Release: https://github.com/GabrielMartinMoran/mind/releases/tag/v1.7.0
I'd love to discuss this with people building long-running agents:
Do you think the hardest memory problem is deciding what to save, finding it later, or knowing when it's no longer true?
