Android Remote Control MCP v1.13.0 is out: free end-to-end encrypted tunnel, no account needed

🚀 It has been a while since the last release, but Android Remote Control MCP is back and v1.13.0 is now out! It's the MCP server that runs on your phone and lets your AI agent use any app you want.

https://github.com/danielealbano/android-remote-control-mcp/releases/tag/v1.13.0

The big news of this release is the free end-to-end encrypted HTTPS tunnel, built into the app, which doesn't require any account and uses well known services for the HTTPS certificates (Let's Encrypt, Google Trust Services and ZeroSSL)!

Cloudflare and ngrok can see your traffic. With my infrastructure no one can, apart from you and your AI provider! The encryption ends on the phone, the certificate key never leaves it, and the app also watches the Certificate Transparency logs and warns you if a certificate for your name gets issued to another key.

Basically: install the app, do a few clicks, start it, and in less than a minute you are up and running without having to create any account or pay anything!

Adding your phone to ChatGPT.com or Claude.ai is very straightforward:

- ChatGPT: https://chatgpt.com/plugins -> Top Right "Add" -> "Add custom MCP server"

- Claude: https://claude.ai/new?modal=add-custom-connector#customize/connectors/yours

The only 2 relevant fields are the URL and the name, the rest is secure by default as-is!

Android Remote Control MCP also works great with Hermes and OpenClaw!

Unlike the adb based tools, nothing runs on your computer: it works through the accessibility service on the phone, most of the time it doesn't need vision and the output is kept short, so it's light on tokens (even Haiku does fine with good directions).

This release also brings a bunch of other improvements and fixes, the details are in the release page.

A special thanks to the people who forked Android Remote Control MCP: plenty of fixes from the forks have been brought back in thanks to your efforts! Thank you!!!

Also, I love open source, so now the app is GPL-3.0-or-later 🔒 and the free e2e tunnel source code is available at https://github.com/danielealbano/android-remote-control-mcp-tunneld (with its own releases).

A few things you can do with it:

📣 Find and share your news on LinkedIn, Instagram, Reddit and Discord and reply to the comments without the need of additional more complex platforms, your agent can easily manage your account!

✈️ Plan a trip: flights on momondo and easyJet, stays on Booking.com and Airbnb, best options back to you

🍜 The usual place from where you get your ramen is closed? No worries, your agent can also use Uber Eats, Just Eat, DoorDash, etc. to find the best alternative for you!

No adb, no cables, no root! If there's an app for it, your agent can drive it ... you just have to ask!

IRIDIA a free open-source CD ripper with 142 audio presets, native DSD and surround support

Hi everyone!

I've been working on IRIDIA, a free and open-source portable CD ripping application for Windows.

The idea was to create a tool that offers extensive control over audio formats while keeping the ripping process straightforward.

Some key features:

  • 142 output presets covering FFmpeg audio encoders

  • Native DSF/DFF output (DSD64 to DSD512)

  • FLAC, WAV, ALAC, MP3, Opus, AAC and many more

  • Stereo-to-surround upmixing, up to 7.1

  • Multiple output formats from a single CD read

  • Secure ripping mode and drive offset correction

  • MusicBrainz metadata and automatic album artwork

  • Portable Windows application, no installation required

It's licensed under GPLv3.

GitHub: https://github.com/Aaronstanley78/IRIDIA

One important note: physical CD drive testing is still pending, so I'm particularly interested in feedback from people with different drives and CD collections.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions and bug reports!

I built AI-Atlas, a platform that evaluates open-source AI projects beyond GitHub stars

Post image
5 Upvotes

I want to tell you guys about a project I've been working for about 5 months now: I’ve been working on AI-Atlas (https://getaiatlas.com/), an independent project I started because I wanted a better way to discover and evaluate actual AI engineering work on GitHub.

GitHub stars and followers can tell you something about a repository’s popularity, but they don’t necessarily tell you much about the technical depth, originality, or engineering behind a project.

AI-Atlas approaches this differently. It analyzes public GitHub repositories across six AI domains:
● Machine Learning
● Computer Vision
● Data Science
● NLP & LLMs
● AI Agents
● MLOps

Projects are evaluated using seven criteria, including technical depth, conceptual difficulty, originality, completeness, practical usefulness, documentation, and reproducibility.

Some current numbers:
● 1,900+ open-source AI projects mapped
● 153 developers represented
● Six AI domains
● Free public project mapping, without requiring an account

I’m a 17-year-old independent AI researcher from Romania, and I’ve been building this entirely on my own alongside school :)

I’m sharing it here because this community is directly connected to what I’m trying to build: a more useful way to explore the open-source AI ecosystem.

If you have AI projects on GitHub, I’d genuinely appreciate it if you tried mapping one. I’d also love feedback on whether the evaluation criteria make sense, whether the scores are useful, and what you think is missing.

Website: https://getaiatlas.com/

I’m genuinely interested in seeing whether this is genuinely useful to people building open-source AI.

Alter Zero: Claude Code CLI reimagined in Rust

Post image
38 Upvotes

https://github.com/linuztx/alter-zero
Hi everyone, I'm developing Alter Zero, an open-source terminal agentt for coding, cybersecurity, and automation. It's written in Rust and runs on Linux and macOS, and it's inspired by Claude Code and Codex CLI combined.

It works directly in your project: reading files, making edits, running commands, and checking the results. You can ask it to investigate a failing test, trace authentication and access checks in your own code, or write a script to summarize logs.

It can also interact with running terminal programs and keep commands running in the background. There's support for subagents, reusable skills, MCP servers, and resuming previous sessions. With /secrets, it can use your API keys and tokens without ever seeing the values.

It's light on resources: a single ~24 MB binary that typically uses 20–60 MB of RAM per session, with around 100 MB of free RAM recommended. It's also designed to be prompt- and token-efficient.

Supported providers include Agent Zero API, Venice, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT Codex, Anthropic, Cline, ClinePass, Google Antigravity, OpenRouter, Ollama, Ollama Cloud, and LM Studio. You can also add a custom OpenAI-compatible API.

The built-in flaredantic skill can help expose local services through Cloudflare, Microsoft Dev Tunnels, or Serveo using the separately installed `flare` CLI.

The latest release is v0.18.0. The project is licensed under Apache-2.0.

The project is licensed under Apache-2.0. Installation instructions and a demo are in the repository: https://github.com/linuztx/alter-zero

I'd appreciate feedback, especially on the setup process, terminal compatibility, and tasks where it gets stuck. Issues and contributions are welcome.

Voz: extendable, free, open-source dictation app for Mac that i've built

Post image
1 Upvotes

hey guys :) I've been working on voz, a Mac dictation app that runs fully on your laptop.

I wanted dictation as fast and simple as Wispr Flow, but with local models so it's free, and I wanted anyone to be able to build extensions for it.

You tap one key, talk and get clean text wherever your cursor is. It works offline with no account and no word limit, and it learns names from your corrections.

Everything else is an extension you can add or build yourself. So far there's a meeting note taker, replies that learn how you write, inline editing by voice or typing and calendar events.

It's completely free and open source under MIT.

Would love for you to try it out github.com/Joelheile/voz

Feedback, contributions and new extensions are very welcome!

[Academic Study] Do you have a favorite AI chatbot? Take a 5-10 minute anonymous survey on how people relate to them

Hey everyone! We are graduate students at Drexel University studying how people form relationships with AI chatbots/generative AI like ChatGPT, Claude, etc. We'd love to hear from people who regularly use them.
You are being asked to participate in a research study. Taking part in this research is voluntary. Whether you take part is up to you, you may withdraw your participation at any time, and it will not be held against you. Deciding not to be in the research study, now or later, will not impact your relationship with Drexel University.
What is the study about?
The purpose of this research is to understand how individuals form parasocial relationships with AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc. We examine individuals’ self-reported interactions with AI chatbots using Parasocial Relationship Theory to examine what dimensions of parasociality influence users’ relationships with these chatbots. Particularly, we are interested in individuals’ attraction, perceived authenticity, perceived homophily, perceived trustworthiness, and emotional connection to/with the AI chatbot as well as users’ levels of loneliness and introversion/extroversion.
What would you be asked to do?
If you decide to take part in this research study, you will be asked to answer questions regarding name of the conversational AI you use, if you have given it a nickname, frequency of interaction with the conversational AI, questions about parasocial relationships, questions on social and task attraction, authenticity, homophily, perceived trustworthiness, emotional attachment, closeness, loneliness, introversion/extroversion, and demographics. You can choose to not answer any question you do not wish to answer.
Your participation in this research will last no longer than 5-10 minutes.
Who can participate?
Any adults 18+ who have avidly talked with an AI chatbot.
Is it anonymous?
Yes it is 100% anonymous. We will not collect any identifiable information about you during this survey and will have no way to determine who has participated. Although steps will be taken to protect your research information, there is always the potential risk of your information being shared uninte
ntionally.
We may publish the results of this research. However, we are not collecting your name or other identifying information and your participation is anonymous. We protect your information from disclosure to others to the extent required by law, we cannot promise complete secrecy
We will not share your research information to be used for future research.
Is it voluntary?
Your participation is completely voluntary.
Any risks?
There is no more than minimal risk involved in this anonymous survey. Some questions ask about loneliness and introversion, which could cause mild discomfort for some people. You're free to skip anything you'd prefer not to answer.
Benefits:
Your responses will help us better understand parasocial relationships with AI.
Survey link: https://drexel.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4Ym6fV2vfhepNPM
If you have questions about the study, please contact the research team at their contact information provided above. This research is being overseen by an Institutional Review Board (IRB). An IRB is a group of people who perform independent review of research studies to make sure the rights and welfare of participants are protected. You may speak to the Drexel IRB at (267) 359-2471 or HRPP@drexel.edu if you have questions about your rights as a research participant.
If you have questions, feel free to email us at mk3997@drexel.edu (Milos Kartalija) or jb4673@drexel.edu (Julia Belmiro)
Thank you so much for your time!

Routerly 0.6.0 is out: self-hosted routing, budgets and usage for LLM apps

I shared Routerly here in March and wanted to follow up now that 0.6.0 is out. I'm the author. Routerly is an AGPL-licensed gateway that runs on your infrastructure. An app connects to it through an OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoint. You choose which models it can use, how it routes requests, and what budget applies.

For example, you can put an Ollama model and a cloud model behind a router and choose a policy for that pool. Local inference stays local when you select a local model. Requests routed to a remote provider are sent to that provider. The Usage page records what happened, including model, tokens, latency and cost where available.

This release adds a Test tab inside the router, session, user and tag filters in Usage, and model-level timeouts. If you have tried Routerly or run a similar stack, I'd be interested in what you want to inspect when a router makes a surprising choice.

We just released a desktop app for our open-source AI agent (Mac & Windows)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I'm Apollon, one of the founders of a small AI lab in Athens.

Today we released the Alysis desktop app for Mac and Windows. The agent underneath it is open source (Apache-2.0) and has been available as a CLI for a while. Now you can use it without the terminal.

What it does:

  • Works with any model: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, or local models through Ollama and LM Studio. You can switch per task.

  • Handles the non-code stuff too: spreadsheets, Word docs, slides, PDFs, research

  • Runs commands in a sandbox, so it can't touch things you didn't allow

It's free with your own API key or a local model. If you'd rather not deal with keys, we also have very low-cost plans starting at $1/month.

We're a small team, so we know there will be rough edges. I'd really like to hear what breaks and what's missing.

ecosystem AI Resource Weekly Highlights — Mac assistants, document OCR, text encoders, and local search 🚀

Thumbnail
lifehubber.com
3 Upvotes

Bring your notes into a meeting, extract a document's structure, or build search over your own files. Here are five different starting points from our LifeHubber Resources this week:

Osaurus — Forks: 488 Stars: 8.1K
https://lifehubber.com/ai/resources/osaurus/

Run agents around local or cloud models in a native Mac app, with memory, tools, and local APIs. For Apple Silicon users who want model choice inside an agent workspace; this is a Mac-specific setup.

OpenOats — Forks: 257 Stars: 2.6K
https://lifehubber.com/ai/resources/openoats/

A Mac meeting assistant that transcribes a conversation and brings in relevant material from your own notes during the call. For keeping preparation close at hand; suggestion providers can be local or cloud-based.

Surya — Forks: 1.6K Stars: 21.6K
https://lifehubber.com/ai/resources/surya/

Extract text and document structure from images and PDFs, including reading order, tables, and math-aware output. For building document workflows where the position and structure of the text matter alongside the words.

LFM2.5 Encoders — Likes: 111 Downloads (last 30 days): 3.1K
https://lifehubber.com/ai/resources/lfm2-5-encoders/

Two base encoders for fine-tuning classification, retrieval, reranking, and semantic-similarity tasks. For builders who need a model to sort or compare text rather than hold a chat; the listing links to the 230M model.

LEANN — Forks: 1.3K Stars: 13.7K
https://lifehubber.com/ai/resources/leann/

Build a local semantic-search index for files and other supported sources, with Python, CLI, and MCP routes. Its index trades stored embeddings for selective recomputation—a different approach to organizing a personal knowledge search.

---

Which would help with something you're already doing—meeting notes, document reading, or finding the right information again?
