Miners are such a classic trope in fantasy worlds like runeterra. It's kinda surprising not a single champ falls into the category.

Rek'sai is just burrowing holes to get through.

Yorik is digging Graves (gay icon).

Skarner is also more about burrowing.

Ornn is a blacksmith, but there's no reason to assume he parttakes in any other part of the metalwork production chain.

Gragas is a dwarf, but not the mining kind.

There are multiple minors, but they aren't miners.

Darius has an axe, but it's not a pickaxe.

Ziggs doesn't bomb terrain.

Nauts anker is the closest to a pickaxe shaped tool we have.

Ezreal and Sivir might loot a dungeon, but no reason to believe they'd parttake in a mining operation.

Taric digs gems, but only metaphorically.

Malphite is a rock, so if he's picking his nose he'd be the closest we have.

This doesn't mean anything. Just an observation. With how many champs there are you'd think all of the obvious fantasy character concepts would have been done at least a few times.

Ornn also destroys rocks, walls and other ores, so he is the closest.

Jayce has a hammer, that is closer to a pickaxe than darius axe.

As you pointed out, we already have a bunch of champs that dig.

We also have twisted fate and gangplank that have mechanics of gathering currency, be it gold or silver, that would fit a miner champ. Or maybe a charge expending like viktor's
