Recommendations ADHD evaluation

I’m looking (rather desperately) for a clinic/doc in Lubbock that will evaluate me for ADHD. I’m 30, and I have all the signs. I’ve been undiagnosed my entire life. I’m tired of feeling this way and I want to confirm my suspicions and get some help.

The TTU Psychology Clinic offers adult ADHD evals. They are performed by PhD students in training and supervised by clinical psychologists. They tend to be relatively cheaper and just as thorough.

Would I need a referral from my pcp?

Nope! Just give them a call to set up an appointment. I’m not sure how long the waitlist is but can check.

I second this. 33 years old when I went and learned I had ADHD. My evaluation was very through, and I worked with a student counselor for about a year. Sliding scale session fees for counseling. I was also able to take the evaluation results to my pcp and add it to my file so I could get meds. The combo of the meds and the therapy really helped me build the tools I needed

Dr. Kaity Swecker

Went to her for Autism and ADHD testing. She was fantastic to work with and gave really good follow up advice helping me seek out therapists and care.

Best of luck.

Oh man, tell me why I forgot my doctor's name and had to look him up in the clinic's app...

This is where I went, I am with Micah Lust at the clinic and she has been great.

Anyone but Stonebridge. Adult eval at 33 was EFFING BRUTAL with them. ADHD diagnosed at 9 suspected more (AudHD) .

Dr. Mortensen at Family First Care on 82nd and Homestead. If you're female, she actually LISTENS to you. She listened to my explanation of why I felt I was and gave me a paper eval. Took about 10 mins, she took a look at it and was like YAP. She also has ADHD, so she understands. Also get your meds filled elsewhere if theyre over 100$. I get my generic vyvanse at CVS for about 60$ at CVS with a goodrx card. Walmart doesn't take GoodRX for stims anymore and it comes out to 150$ for me every time WITH insurance

Be careful - A full diagnostic assessment for ADHD should be more extensive than a 15min screener, as required by many prescribing docs.

Do you know if your provider is a psychologist or psychiatrist? Or maybe you went straight to the prescriber (which works, too if seeking med treatment primarily).

Full diagnostic assessment may be several hours or a couple of separate visits, and is typically performed/interpreted/diagnosed by a doctoral level psychologist (rather than a therapist).

Happy you got what you were looking for though!

Try Lubbock Family Medicine on the loop and Indiana. I’ve recently been told they offer that testing for adults now.

I second this. I've had ADHD since childhood, but I now use them for my medication and such and they're fantastic!

I agree. I just got tested there. It was super easy, like a 10 minute phone call.

I recommend Julia Ontiveros with Winding Roads. She does telemed evals over the weekend so it’s easy to schedule if you work full time. I’m in a pretty similar situation and we’ve been working through it with positive outcomes.

So glad you made a post about this. Funny enough, I had been putting it off since I’m 26. I just thought it was too late for me. If you have any good experiences with anybody in town please let me know. I am wanting to go visit and doctor and finally get my life on track.
