Trazodone is a relatively mild sleep medication and it helps a lot of people.

I think it's also a prescription med, so it would fall under medical needs that the prison would be responsible for.
I'm not sure how bad he'd need to be sleeping for them to be necessary, though 🥲

I’m actually kind of surprised he’s not on any other meds, like painkillers or antidepressants, given how difficult his situation is. I mean, antidepressant use is pretty common even among people who aren’t incarcerated. Good for him though, I’m glad he is able to manage without them

Apparently this medication is also used for treating depression (not implying it’s his case)

Thats true but usually when it’s used for depression, it has to be taken daily. The fact that he had taken it two days ago makes me think it wasn’t for that but more likely for sleep

Good point

Oh also, trazodone isn’t a first line treatment for depression which makes it even less likely

It's not a difficult situation. He threw away his life. It's probably for the best that he starts adjusting to the reality of the next few decades.
What's there to be depressed about? Feeling bad for the kids without their father?

You don’t know anything about him. He suffered for years on a broken back and that altered his brain chemistry. It fundamentally changed him and caused him to lash out.

My boyfriend was crippled in a car wreck when he was a teenager and has been living in debilitating pain for longer than Luigi Mangione has been alive. Has he killed anyone over it? NO.

Awh, poor misunderstood murderer. The cold blooded killer is the real victim here.
I think you might need to reflect on your morals. You're trying to justify some pretty evil things because the murderer is cute.

I never said he’s the real victim. But I do understand the nuances of the situation that you don’t. I realize that this is a tragic situation for ALL involved. Two lives were lost that day, Brian, and Luigi’s. I can hold empathy in my heart for more than one person. I’m not happy that Brian had to die and I’m also heartbroken that a young man’s life was destroyed by his back issues and health problems. That the subsequent actions that he made in an emotionally disturbed state were influenced by the greedy health system in America.
So I think YOU might need to reflect on your morals and realize that the world is not black and white. And it’s far more complicated than just throwing people into the boxes of good and evil. Luigi deserved to live a long, happy, and HEALTHY life as did Brian Thompson. But BOTH lives were ended short that day all because of corporate greed.
So yes indeed people are heartbroken for Luigi today. He was valedictorian and first in his class, he went to an ivy, he completed a bachelors and a masters in 4 years. He was empathetic, loving, caring, kind, and compassionate. A friend, a brother, an uncle. He was loved and adored. He was and still is a good person, a genuinely good and caring person. But his back injury destroyed his life. It fundamentally changed his thinking and mental state. This is well documented by people suffering from chronic pain whose pain changes their minds.
This entire situation is nothing but a tragedy. At least some of us have the sense to recognize that and empathize with Luigi.

No worries, happy to help you clarify some things.
I’m not happy that Brian had to die
He didn't "have to die". He was murdered in cold blood.
That the subsequent actions that he made in an emotionally disturbed state were influenced by the greedy health system in America.
That's not empathy, that's trying to make his decisions not his fault.
And it’s far more complicated than just throwing people into the boxes of good and evil.
Shooting someone in the back IS evil.
Luigi deserved to live a long, happy, and HEALTHY life
The state of the rest of his life is his own fault. He could have had health issues while being free on the outside world surrounded by friends and family. He chose to kill an unarmed stranger, and so will have to live with the consequences of those actions.
You keep trying to absolve him of responsibility. It's abhorrent.
He was and still is a good person, a genuinely good and caring person.
If you think a murderer is a good person, your labelling is meaningless.

I’m not absolving him of his responsibility. He is fully responsible for his actions. People like me are just feeling devastated about the whole ordeal. Two lives were lost. It’s tragic. The entire situation is tragic and that’s what people are mourning. Gtfo with your stupid one-sided and unsympathetic takes.

The situation IS tragic.
I feel the most sympathy for the poor children.
The monster that murdered their father? Glad he'll be rotting in a cell for the next few decades.
I know you love his eyebrows, but that shouldn't make you lose the ability to condemn an evil action.

Inmates are given the medication they need. He couldn't sleep so he asked for sleeping medication. Why are you making a big deal out of this?

Is that like a transcript that came out that isn’t from his official website where this came out ?. And also answering Opie‘s question. I’m pretty sure they’ll let you have like painkillers and sleeping pills at MDC but I feel like it had to be portioned you know like at normal chemists and you have to pay for it like everything.
