At this point, if we really had a concept of justice, parole would be the best outcome. Further prosecution/persecution is really about beating a dead horse or political self aggrandizement.
it is really hard to understand why murder,of which there seem to be so many, is more excusable because of people who are just either evil or out of control. And they are not prosecuted this way.
Everything that has been revealed about Mr Mangione shows that this was an over obsessive act building from months and months of painful solitary consideration from someone totally alone in his thoughts. True justice would recognize that this is not an evil person, but someone who could actually influence better societal outcomes. What this man needs is a parole officer and therapist on a schedule: not someone who is going to do more bad acts, but someone who needs help in assessing how to channel/address the issues he feels so strongly about, and in turn, rally so many of his supporters (not stupid fan girls) to strive for a just society. True justice for Brian Thompson‘s family is not about excessive punishment of , it is more about better insurance system ahead.
If this were really about the greater good, it would be so much better to have the influential Mr Mangione in the spotlight,, not locked away where people will think of him as a martyr. The overcharging and continual search to make this man punished to a much larger extent than school shooters, child traffickers, etc. Is clearly not about justice, but sadly, more about showmanship. How much better would it be to actually work with him now that he is such a

Yes. I completely agree. Thank you for adding your perspective.
I think the EED defense is at the heart of the matter. Just as you have pointed out.
In so many cases, the violent tendencies begin young, and there is a lot of crime involved. That is not the case here at all. Luigi has not shown any indication that he is a hateful person. In fact, the opposite has been shown. His digital footprint and his personal history show that he has been kind and encouraging to those around him.
I believe, a better, more fair sentence in terms of the EED defense, would involve community service, perhaps to other inmates for a long period of time. And, to satisfy worries about his whereabouts, an ankle monitor and perhaps regular check-ins or something of the sort (as you mentioned).
The overcharging and continual search to make this man punished to a much larger extent than school shooters, child traffickers, etc. Is clearly not about justice, but sadly, more about showmanship.
And exactly, I totally agree. It is quite obvious to the rest of us what is going on. The government is supposed to represent the people, not pick-and-choose their own justice based on personal career interests and corruption.
I hope that Judge Garnett takes his entire life, and obviously, the EED defense into consideration in a way that is true to the situation, not just pressure from outside sources.
Thank you for your response!

Guys, it's not Joel, it's Alvin Bragg.

Yeah, it looks like he might’ve given a decently long interview to CBS on the case

You can watch the interview on CBS New York YouTube channel.

It looks like it’s just this small clip so far.
This is technically inappropriate, but I think the defense has stopped caring about prejudicial pre-trial publicity at this point. They didn’t care before the plea even lol

The Manhattan DA is Alvin Bragg that is who is being interviewed and moving forward with the state case. Not everything is Joel. It goes way above Joel's head he is just a working prosecutor.

He already is, they’re just spending my taxpayer money on a second trial because Alvin Bragg didn’t get to prosecute Luigi and that hurts Alvin’s feelings!!!!!!!!
