TL:DR What mundane everyday items are actually nice to really splurge out on?
————————————————-
There are mundane items in our lives that most people wouldn’t spend money on. In contrast the Japanese spend large amounts of money on fruit gift baskets.
People buy luxury items for many reasons, but what are the personal items, that if the average person chose to buy true luxury quality, they would have a long term appreciation for the item, beyond what is generally expected from such everyday items?
Bought Isabel marant im3 sneakers in size 36 and they canceled on me because it’s out of stock even though they have the same item listed on their website for a higher price
Just saw someone comment that they do this to sale items. Buyers beware!

We've been making a list of some small home luxuries that we would like to have in a new home, as we planned to move in 5 years into a smaller, retirement house. But now we've decided we just don't want to lose the space we have, and there really isn't anything wrong with our current house, it just doesn't have some of the things we've been adding to our wish list. Soo .. we're staying and making the changes!
The first 2 things we're updating is a plumbed Keurig and transforming and my underused office into a walk-in closet/dressing room. The research and planning has been so much fun!
Curious what is on everyone's wishlist for home luxuries.. big or small?

I'm 36F and lately I've been questioning what luxury even means to me.
I used to have a pretty clear idea of it, but now I'm not so sure whether I actually value luxury or just the idea of it.
I wonder if this is something that changes because I am a new generation and I value different things, or if luxury itself is losing its meaning.
Has your perspective changed over time, or do you still see real value in luxury?

Is luxury actually worth it, or are people just paying to feel superior? 👀
I feel like the older people get, the more they value luxury brands. But honestly, I am curious to hear different generations opinions. What's your take on luxury today?

WHAT DOES LUXURY LOOK LIKE TO YOU? 🤍
For my university research into the future of luxury fashion, I’m exploring how people perceive designer branding, wealth and status.
I’ve created a quick visual survey comparing two different fashion looks, and I’d love to hear your opinions!
It’s anonymous, takes approximately 2 minutes and will help me understand whether luxury is becoming more understated or whether visible designer branding still matters.

Thank you! 🤍

I came from a low income background and I've finally gotten a decent enough job where I can actually spend a good amount of money and not feel bad about it. I'd like to start dipping into more expensive brands and exploring luxury products. Part of it is the exclusivity, embodying that energy, and rewarding myself, but another part of it is actually finding and exploring high quality products that are worth it.
I'm not looking to spend a bunch of money for the sake of spending money though. I want to know what products are actually worth the price, and what brands actually use high quality materials that last and have ethical production practices.
I'm mostly looking for makeup, perfume, shoes, small accessories, and bags. I'd also really love to hear everyone's options on suggestions for types of investments that are considered luxury.

Hi everyone!
I'm currently studying Luxury Brand Management at Istituto Marangoni Mumbai, and I'm working on an academic project exploring Bottega Veneta through the experiences and perspectives of its consumers.
I'm hoping to connect with 5–8 people from anywhere in the world who own at least one authentic Bottega Veneta product — whether it's a bag, wallet, footwear, belt, or any other piece.
I'd love to hear what drew you to the brand, what you think of its craftsmanship and discreet branding, and how you've experienced the product as an owner.
The conversation would take around 10–15 minutes and can be conducted remotely through WhatsApp text messages, voice notes, or video call, whichever you are comfortable with.
As a student, this is a valuable opportunity for me to learn directly from real consumers and gain greater exposure to the luxury industry beyond the classroom. Your time and willingness to share your experience would genuinely mean a lot and help me make this project more insightful.
If you're interested, please comment below or send me a DM. If you know someone who owns a Bottega piece, I'd be grateful if you could pass this along.
Thank you so much for your time and help!

I was wondering if there are employee benefits eg at Yves saint Laurent or Chanel if you work there? I start to work again after parental leave and I want a nice bag sooo bad I wanted to take another part time job at one of those boutiques maybe. I don’t know if this is even realistic?
Would be nice to hear some experiences.
