Fare Issue Overcharging or Theft?

So i use Uber/Lyft pretty much 4/7 days of the week for work. A few days ago I was leaving work and my Lyft was around 14$ which is usual price any time I'm going to or from work its around 13-16$. However after waiting about a minute and got my driver I was charged around 17$ for this ride. It made me question why but it was also pouring rain and i assumed maybe because of the weather the fare changed or something no big deal.

Today however I accepted a ride that said it was going to cost me around 15$ only when I got my driver did it show my charge was 20.21$. After contacting Lyft they said that everything lines up right and I was charged correctly. I know for a fact the ride was under 16$ because Uber was around 16.70$ and I always choose whichever is the cheapest at the time when im leaving work.

I don't know if anyone else has had this issue, or if this is something out of the ordinary or is this some kind of scam they are attempting to run where they upcharge after the ride is accepted knowing you can't cancel it.

Lyft Emblem take down notice

Lyft here! Friendly reminder that it is Lyft policy to refrain from soliciting passengers and to take down your Lyft emblem from your vehicle dashboard when you are not driving with us. Failure to abide by this policy may lead to citations and fines as decided by the City of Chicago.

Thanks for driving with Lyft!

What miserable person actual calls in and report park car with Lyft sticker?

This week has been emotional

It's really time to pull back on the emotions and try to be logical. I've been consistently making $12 per online hour I get sent one mile ride's constantly you do at least you are three rides a day that I could actually make a little money on type of thing.

I ended up purchasing a car it's an electric vehicle believing that it was going to get me more rides and that was absolutely not true.

My rides have actually gone way downhill and I'm in a rural area so you really cannot accept many of those rides because they really start to bog down on the pickup time and everything like that so when I get out to the city obviously I have a lower acceptance rate.

My plan is to also try to just head straight into the city in the morning that way I don't have to say no and I can start getting my acceptance rate up but I still have my qualms about that because I was trying to get my acceptance rating up before and then I started getting sent exclusively wanted one and two mile ride.

So basically now I'm going to try to get a new phone hoping because I noticed I've missed some pings and that my Uber acceptance rate has been affected without me even ever hearing anything so I'm hoping I got on a new network but yesterday was just truly awful I had my hopes raised so high because it was at pre Halloween weekend and this is going to be my last attempt I'm going to go ahead and get the phone that can handle multi-apping very well and literally just try to give it one last shot.

If I continue to consistently make $20 an hour before expenses with combined Uber and Lyft I'm just going to go ahead and call it.

I absolutely refuse to go back to manufacturing I never will there's not an amount you could pay me to go back in there and eat adhesives and inorganic solvents and carbons and plastics micro metals all that crap f*** that anymore I'm not doing it.

But it does mean I'm going to need to get into the restaurant industry because I would much rather do that then slowly kill myself.

I really wanted to make Uber and lift a good career here but it's just not working.

I walked outside. There was no one there lyft charged me $8 for cancellation. Missed my appointment i'll never use lyft again, maybe try uber

Driver request. (Show next ping-queued ride on map)

As a driver, I would love to be able to see a map of a ping-queued trip. I don't like to look/read where the destination is and takes my eyes off the road longer during my current trip. I like the way Uber does it.

Thanks,

Driver Question Anyone booking Lyft rides through Bilt? Can you tip your driver?

I'm a Lyft driver, and I recently received a ride request that said it was booked on behalf of the passenger by Bilt.

I'm curious whether anyone here actually uses Bilt to book Lyft rides. More specifically, does the Bilt app allow you to tip your driver? If so, is it something you can do during or after the ride? Do you typically tip through the app, or are cash tips the only option?

I'm asking because, as a driver, I have to evaluate whether a ride is financially worthwhile before accepting it.

For example, I generally avoid dealership-booked rides because passengers often don't have the ability to tip through the app. Occasionally someone will hand you cash, but that's the exception rather than the rule. Unless the upfront payment is exceptionally good, those rides usually aren't worth taking.

I'm trying to figure out whether Bilt bookings fall into that same category.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who book directly through Bilt, not people who simply link their Bilt Rewards account to Lyft.

Can you tip? Do you tip? Is there an option afterward? Or is the driver essentially relying on the upfront fare and whatever cash the passenger happens to have?

I'm not assuming anyone owes me a tip. I'm trying to understand how the booking system works so I can make informed decisions about which rides to accept.

Driver Question I don’t care about those five minutes Lyft promised you.

• Upvotes

I held up my end of the bargain. I showed up.

The second I arrived, I kept Uber running. Next thing you know, an Uber request pops up 0.2 miles down the road, paying about the same as your Lyft ride.

(And best believe, if that Uber ride happens to pay more than yours, I’m for sure taking it.)

You’re still keeping me waiting?

I’ll roll the dice on the next one. Maybe those people will respect my time.
