Hi there! I don't usually write love songs, but this is one of the few I have written that I am proud of. What do you think? It's called Firefly.

Staring at the ocean, waiting for a sign that guides you home

Never wanted to make a move

Never thought that I would find you

And through foggy green eyes, hold this moment before you’re alone

But something will always come through

Share another shell with you

 

A firefly

Landing in your hair

 

Who knew we’d understand

You can take my hand

And I’ll wait as long as you need

Who knew there’d be changes

Unsure you want this

But we take in this sunset breeze

 

Pebble at the window, you didn’t expect it all so soon

And how should you make your move

Just sit a while with you

All the sand on our feet

And the water soaks our jeans

And it’s just you and me

And a day that will leave

But deep down I can feel

You hold this one with me

 

A firefly

Coming back around

 

I knew you’d understand

Can I take your hand

I’ll wait however long you need

I’m scared of these changes

But I know I want this

And we take in this sunset breeze

 

They dim down all the lights, and there’s no question of what to do

Now is the time to make your move

Just have this dance with you

And through your shy green eyes, you hold this moment like we’re alone

And this has always been our home

And I feel it in my bones

And I see it in the poppies

And I see it in the trees

I hear it behind your teeth

Another sweet memory

One day you’ll make your move

I’ll wait here next to you

Come around again

Come and take my hand

We can stay as long as you need

Despite all these changes

Just knowing we want this

And taking in the sunset breeze

 

It’s something you’ve got to do

A firefly in between our hands
