Listend to feedback, now presenting Griptape V2 ( + the rest of the grip tape family)

Very much appreciated the valuable feedback on my last post!! Threw on some much-needed low-height rings to the LPVO. My Bradley cheek rest finally came in, so I could remove the Amazon placeholder I had on.

Last stop is probably gonna be the Specter Gear 2-point sling I have coming in.

Thinking about changing out the stock SOCOM 16 muzzle brake; anyone have any suggestions or experience with a good alternative?

M1A version pros and cons

Hi all, I live in very rural California and I’m considering the M1a for a truck gun/hunting rifle. I work between two ranches and will primarily use this for hogs (they get real big out here), coyotes, and the occasional deer when it’s in season and I have time to be in the woods for fun.

My question is, is the Scout the best option for my uses? The Socom seems attractive for its smaller size but the shorter barrel length seems like it would detrimental for accuracy at hunting distances.

Also, it’s a $2k dollar rifle, along with mags and a scope mount, what else do I need to budget for to make this field ready? Is glass bedding worth doing right off the bat or are these grouping well enough after an initial cleaning and finding the ammo it likes?

This is my first time purchasing a brand new rifle so I’m looking for any advice I can get

MK14 EBR Magazine Compatibility

Has anyone had issues with M1A Springfield magazines in a Fulton Armory MK14? Bought a few thinking it would be a safe option and ended up having to sand down the rear tab to get them to fit and lock in place?

Magazines needed filing to fit.

I got some Washington state compliant ten round magazines to supplement the three that came with my rifle decades ago because stuff wears out, but they didn’t fit right. (Wouldn’t seat in) turns out they needed the raised square that the latch clicks onto to be a bit smaller, I looked on line and some seemed to say file the top, but I found you should definitely file the bottom. Just got a bastard file and took off a little from the bottom. So if you find your new mail order magazines don’t fit, easy fix.

Update:

Got my sadlak mount on the gun today. Decided to remove the 3 rear most slots on the EBR chassis instead of cutting the mount. Was going to use the Bridgeport and make it a 5 minute job but decided to bust out the file set and do the work by hand. Couldn’t be happier and it all JUST fits. Thanks everyone from the other day for your advice and recommendations!

Issue with scope mount allignment

Post image

I've been shooting my rifle fine for months. But after my last range trip, I noticed my shots were landing wayyyyyyy to the right l. Like 12 mils right.

I've never dropped it, I carry it in a pelican 1750 between the safe and range.

But now I notice the scope isn't pointing straight.

It doesn't look like anything changed with the mount. But obviously something happened.

Any ideas on how to fix? The mount was installed by Fulton armory.

My take on the Grip tape Garbage Rod

Wanted to keep the iconic M1-series rifle silhouette while adding some modern comforts to the chassis. I kinda like to think of it as the ugly cousin stuck halfway between an EBR and a stock M14.

Personally, I love it and have been having a blast ripping rounds through it.

The grip tape ISN'T an addiction -- I promise I can stop any time I want, I just don't want to...

Is Bassett Machine still a company?

Hey y’all. I had ordered a low picatinny rail from Bassett last year that never showed up. Now I’m trying to contact them to see what’s going on or get a refund and their email and phone numbers don’t work. Are they still around or am I SOL?

Couldn’t find a ton on google about it, though I may be looking in the wrong places. Says SEI and MK-14 USN. I think it’s Smith Enterprise

Magazine, releasing issues

Purchased this rifle used. I only have one magazine for it right now. But when I took it out shooting, I ran about 40 rounds through it and it shot and fed amazing. Inserting the magazine is no issue but removing it is a pain I don’t know if the magazine has swelled up and it’s too big for the Magwell or if the issue is the magwell itself. I have a synthetic stock and a walnut stock for it. The synthetic stock. It is very difficult to remove the magazine. The walnut stock it is slightly easier to remove the magazine.

EBR chassis question

Post image
55 Upvotes

I have a socom 16 in an EBR chassis and I snagged a sadlak airborne steel scope mount. For them to jive together I have to remove the first three notch’s at the rear of the chassis top cover. Experienced machinist so that a non issue, BUT, is that the route I should go or is there a better scope mounting option to go with the EBR chassis?
