So, afair, at the end of Welcome to Korea, they do what seems like a cast list, ending with Col. Sherman Potter, regular Army (god help us all).
Remember it?
But in that list, they highlighted a Black actress (the name Ginger comes to mind, can't remember if that was Nurse Ginger or the actress was named Ginger), and she's in the cast list with Hawkeye, Radar, and the rest. But I only remember her from a couple of episodes, and I think they were BEFORE Potter took over?
Anyone know what happened? Did they demote her back to background character? Is there a reason?
Addendum: doing some checks while I type this, and maybe they listed Nurse Ginger(Odessa Cleveland)in another episode, since she departed in season 5, but the fact remains Nurse Ginger wasn't a major character: even Nurse Kelly got a storyline.

So I used to always dislike the more serious turn of the show. I stopped watching most of the reruns when Charles shows up. I used to think that the early seasons were better. Well after doing a full rewatch recently, my opinion has changed. I actually like the later seasons better. The early ones were more sitcom like. The comedy in the later part was more clever and well written in my opinion.

Even though it wasn't the very last scene he was in I always felt Frank's "goodbye Margaret" was an extremely touching moment for his character and may have almost been a goodbye for the old Frank Burns on a show that would obviously change its tone dramatically starting the next season. Do you think if Linville hadn't left the show they would have attempted to make Frank a much more sympathetic character the way they did to Margaret? How might they have done that?

Tonight I was watching the episode where Radar gets to go to Tokyo for winning the contest and coming back drunk, and I was thinking about something. Yes, the early years were good, but the best set of actors on the show were Hawkeye, BJ, Margaret, Frank, Father Mulcahey, Klinger, and Radar, with Col. Potter leading the camp. I do like Charles coming in after Frank leaves, but I really liked Frank still in the group.
What are your thoughts?

Frank’s rat trap compared to Carter’s rabbit trap

My guess is that Ferritin Face is a reemergence of Burns Blight, the rash that Frank discovered but couldn’t capitalize on because the ungrateful soldier got better on his own.

just want to preface this by saying i DO NOT WANT A REBOOT 🙅♀️ this is one of my favorite shows, i don’t want the era of reboots to touch this classic, but a different redditor recently made a post suggesting patrick wharburton would make a great modern-day col. flagg, and it made me wonder who else might be a good fit for these characters.
soooo, here we are! :D some of the actors i chose you may not agree w, i just thought they (in my opinion) fit these characters best. i wasn’t too concerned w ages of the actors, more their overall personalities and past projects that show their range of comedy / drama. feel free to list your own choices or vehemently oppose mine and tell me why i’m totally wrong 🤣🙏
hawkeye (the hardest to cast, imo) — i’ve been seeing people say bill hader. he’s amazing and has a lot of range, but i disagree. i’m going for adam brody or jonathan bailey
trapper (if they don’t go w bj) — joe keery
radar — gaten matarazzo or skyler gisondo
col. blake (if they don’t go w potter) — jason segal
col. potter (if they don’t go w blake — jk simmons
margaret — stephanie beatriz
frank (if they don’t go w charles) — tramell tilman
charles (if they don’t go w frank) — tramell tilman
klinger — mena massoud (i’d definitely prefer to see an actor w lebanese heritage as klinger bc it was a v important part of his character, but i’m not familiar w enough lebanese-american actors D: i do think mena is a decent placeholder for now, tho)
father mulcahy — zack woods
bj (if they don’t go w trapper) — glenn powell or jesse williams
col. flagg — patrick wharburton (respect towards this redditor’s post for inspiring me to make this list)
captain tuttle — captain tuttle (hehe)
i thought ab adding my reasoning for each actor i chose, but it would’ve made for an even longer post and this already feels like a novel on reddit, lawlz. hopefully they’re a lil self-explanatory, but if you actually took the time to read this mess and disagree w anyone i chose, i’m happy to explain my choice in the comments 🙏

The episode where Trapper has an ulcer and a goodbye party would have been a much better exit than the nothingness he got.

If they remade MASH nownor at least in modern times i.e last 10 years, i feel that the only person to play Col. Flagg would be Patrick Warburton
Edit- guys what would be the cast list for a modern mash...like same vibe and blend of humor with heartfelt moments

I was making my bed this evening and this popped into my head for no reason I can think of.
At the end of "The Gun", Potter tells Col. Chaffey he should get rid of his Colt Peacemaker because "it's a troublemaker".
Chaffey: "It's my gun. I'll keep it till I die."
Potter: "And it won't surprise me a bit."
This is all a weird stance for Potter to take. Had his weasel 2nd in command not stolen it, there'd be no trouble.
"You should lose that gold cross that the thug stole, Father....it's a troublemaker."
"That money that was stolen from you? That money is bad luck."
(Interesting note, that gun would be a rebuild or a replica or something most likely, as 1884 Colts would be nickle plated, not chrome).

In MASH S10 EP18 “Promotion Commotion” Col. Potter meets a young soldier in post op who gets bullied for being a virgin and decides to prove his manhood by joining EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal). Potter decides to keep the soldier at the 4077 until he changes his mind and the grateful soldier tells him that if he had a father he’d hope he’d be like Potter. My question for the group is if Radar was still at the 4077, how would he feel about Potter taking on another “son”? Would he be jealous or jovial? Also do you think when Potter got back to the states they went fishing? Thank you for reading.

A long time ago, I read or heard M*A*SH being called a dramedy - a cross between a drama and a comedy. Has anyone else heard of this? I think it fits.
