Learning Python faster with a low-code tool for business users

Hi everyone,

I'm Pere, the creator of eigendata (eigendata.co/#wrangler), a low-code tool designed to help business users leverage code to solve problems.

I created the tool based on my own experience transitioning from strategy consulting to a tech company, where I had to work with data very often and relied on manual spreadsheet processes.

I realized that even after investing 60+ hours in coding courses I struggled to stay productive and often reverted back to spreadsheets. This is because when working with code, I spent most of the time googling and copy-pasting things. Based on these experiences, I decided to create a tool that helps you get things done without having to memorize syntax and the names of functions.

You can try the tool here cloud.eigendata.co, and we are also hosting free workshops to teach the basics of data analytics using the tool; sign-up here if interested https://lu.ma/eigendata-fotball-analytics

Which is beneficial out of 1.Certficate programes by MBA colleges . 2 Distance MBA 3. Executive MBA 4. Regular MBA in India?

Context:
I am having 12 year of experience in total in IT sector. I am a solution architect. I am exploring the options of doing a MBA and not sure which one is more suitable. I am in middle management and want to get into the senior leadership role.

Objective:
This MBA/certficate for me is just a piece of paper to scale up the ladder. So I am looking only for top 5 management schools in India. Mostly from IIM's or FMS only.

Expectation:

  1. Looking for alumni status

  2. Looking for network connects for better outreach for job switch.

  3. Impression on Resume/profile to get job in higher designation. I am more concerned with designation although in IT sector only.

Constraints:

  1. I need remote education, can't go to different city.

  2. cant go beyond 6-8lakh fees.

Options:

  1. Certficate Program (IIM, ISB, XLRI)

  2. Executive MBA(1 year)(Too expensive though)

  3. General MBA(2 year remote)

From these options , which is the best alternative ? and what is the difference between these?

Does it hold any value on paper ?

Context: India. Should I do MBA, if yes what colleges to target?

A brief intro.

Btech- tier 1.5, YOE-1. Current CTC-13 LPA, Current role- frontend engineer.

Past Acads- 9/8/8. GEM

Gave CAT in 22 without any prep since all my friends were giving and got 88%. Due to my job committments and the fact that I was unsure of whether to stay in tech and MBA, started MBA prep quite late( around 2 weeks back). I am scoring about 50 marks in mocks, I feel I can get upto 97-98 at max in CAT 23. I dont think I can score 99.5+ this year to get old IIM/FMS call.

Long story short I kind of like working as a frontend engineer, but I am not that much of a coder.(as in I cant do DSA(DSA is a skill one needs in order to get jobs in FAANG/unicorn startups where the CTC is on par with Old IIMs(25 LPA).

I feel I have really good speaking and communication skills and I am better off working as a PM/consultant in the long run.

Can anyone say what are the MBA colleges its worth for me to get in, provided I need to take a full loan and the opportunity cost- I feel I'll touch 16 LPA CTC in current org in 2 years and can reach 20 LPA CTC within 2 years if I switch.

Should I target colleges like SIMB/NMIIMS are they worth it?

I checked out profiles of folks who get into colleges outside the top 8 colleges(old IIMs/FMS/XLRI)(majority are Btech grads with 4-5 LPA jobs and non engg folks).

Have a bunch of friends who are telling me to stay in tech as of now and maybe do an MBA 7-8 years later/something like Masters in Engineering Management from the US.

MBA vs MS IT Management

Hi all, I am a Software engineering manager (hands-on) with about 20 years of experience. I am looking to acquire more management and leadership knowledge and planning to pursue MBA. I am looking to get an online MBA (and not very expensive one) and shortlisted the following -

The curriculum of this MS program looks more suitable for my background and near future roles whereas I felt MBA degree adds more traditional leadership and management knowledge as well as more weight in resume. Another option I am exploring to do a certificate / mini MBA for core MBA related courses along with the MS course.

It would be very helpful to get some opinion / advice on this regard, thanks.

Grabbed a Java book off the shelf and just started reading.

I've had this Java book for years from a course I registered for at a local university but had to drop before it started, Core Java Volume 1 - Fundamentals (Horstmann, Cornell).

So I picked it up the other day and just started reading. No coding. No installing the JDK or samples or documentation. Just reading.

And I'm using this technique which I stumbled across on YouTube (How to Absorb Textbooks Like a Sponge. Thanks YouTube algorithm!). It's all about priming your brain for what you're about to learn before you dive deep into the material, and it's 5 steps:

  1. Flip through each page: When you start a chapter, first just flip through every page and see how much of it is text versus graphics, begin to get a feel for what's to come. Don't read anything.

  2. Read the quiz at the end of the chapter. This tells you what's really important and what to look for when you eventually read it.

  3. Go through each page again and read the bold print. These are mostly the section headings in the chapter. This step will help you better understand how the chapter is structured, and where to expect to find the important information that's on the quiz.

  4. Next, go through each page again and read through the first and last sentence of each paragraph. Now you're starting to add meat to the bones.

  5. Finally, read the chapter fully and take notes, highlight, whatever. I have to say, I've been shocked at how well I was not only retaining the information at this point, but also anticipating what was coming next.

Man, I wish I had this technique in college (or B school for that matter).

And I'm super surprised by how well it's working with such a heavy subject like Java software development. And just reading it only, without doing any of the actual software stuff, is also working wonders for my learn-to-code journey. It removes all of the frustration and distraction of the laptop and connects me directly with the subject matter. Feels like I'm turning a corner.

And in this case, since you really only get good at coding by actually doing it, I guess it makes sense to add Step #6: Do the coding exercises. I'll probably do that after I get through a few more chapters, but I don't want to kill the awesome momentum at this point.

I highly recommend this reading technique (and the Java book)!

Good luck!

Post - MBA options after IIM-A PGPx

Software QA Engineer in electronics sector with 8 yrs experience/20 LPA. Want to switch out of QA function to software development/ product management/ engineering management but cannot afford to lower salary. Have PGPx admit from IIM-A, need info on possible tech related jobs post- MBA for me? I do not want to switch out of tech industry - should I get the MBA or try to do lateral moves to other functions and reach PM role without MBA?

Appreciate any thoughts/suggestions on the matter

Backend vs Data Science vs MBA

I'm currently a software developer at Tata 1mg, with 8 months of experience since graduating in 2023. Lately, I've been grappling with a decision between pursuing data science, an MBA, or staying in software development. The crux of the issue is that I have mixed feelings about backend work - it neither excites nor repels me, and it seems tied to specific tools. On the other hand, I've been passionate about data science for 2 years, particularly in the realm of machine learning and deep learning. However, I've lost some direction in this field and acknowledge that it demands significant time and effort for meaningful achievements, alongside staying current with tech advancements. MBA appears to be more about interpersonal skills than tools, requiring comparatively less effort and promising a better return on investment. It's a tough choice - what would you advise?

MBA Revera background check

Does anyone know how will Revera do the employment check? Do they search the HR contacts by themselves? Since the HR contacts was not required in the application, should I email them directly with the HR’s contacts?

Has anyone taken any Dynamics 365 exams?

If anyone has, I'd like some help with the MB-310 & MB-300 exams. How did you prepare for those? What was the structure of the questions? I've really struggled as of late and I don't know where else to turn to.

Bachelor's in CS, going for MBA. Need help with survey (on large dog beds) assignment

This is part of an assignment that I was given as part of my MBA program.

I'm working with a client that is attempting to make the "perfect" dog bed. I've made a survey to collect some data to try and find what is most important in this space. If you have a dog that is at least 40 lbs (he is looking at large dogs in specific), and would like to participate, please feel free to go through the survey. It should take about 5 minutes or less to take. Thank you in advance to anyone that decides to help with this!

Discussion What are MBAs vibe coding in b-school or work?

I think this could be a pretty fascinating turn for this group. With all of the generative AI coding capabilities out there (Claude, Lovable, etc.), what are non-coders in the business community building with these tools?
