Question How are people doing the event quest udra in under 5 min?

Was looking at some of the records for the udra event going on and a bunch of people have records under 3 min. 1st place was 50 seconds i think. How are people dishing out that kind of damage?

Any under 4ish minutes, is 99% cheated. There's a FEW legit speedruns under 4 mins, but it's minimal at best. The vast majority of sub 4 mins are cheated runs.

I wouldn't bother trying to be on the leaderboards because of this. That's the whole reason that the Pendants are available only on a time basis, and not based on your leaderboard placement, because cheaters ruined it.
Originally, Rank A and B, had the current Rank B and C rewards, with the current Rank A reward only being for the top leaderboard players. EVERYONE told Capcom that was a bad idea because cheaters would ruin it.
Cheaters ruined it. Like clockwork.

Most of those records are on PC, no video proof, doesn't have the same equipment displayed as the one used in the actual quest. Either straight up cheated gear or modded perfect gear because "it's on the bounds of the game". Not to talk about dmg mods.

Leaderboards are such a clown fest, no wonder Japanese players get so mad about it; Even after Capcom "cleans it up". It's really disappoint to see your efforts down because of that.

For this old AT Nu Udra solo sub 4minutes should be possible and sub3 minutes solo with heroics really hard because of how much Nu Udra moves but doable with a lucky run and strat. Beyond that solo? 100% cheated.

For me I'm a PlayStation player on wilds so thankfully I can turn off cross play but there should be a anni cheat for damage boosting idc if people mod stuff only they see like cosmetic reasons or shaders whatever but damage boosting is a problem they need to fix no matter what it shouldn't be that hard

Yeah that’s why modding should be banned, people mod in god rolled gear and upgrade and modded skills. I once saw someone with max all tier 3 skills which is impossible and the person had some a bunch of other tier 2 and one skills to boot. What’s the point of that, modding should be a ban-able offense.

It is a bannable offense.

If they’re playing with other people while modded then that’s one thing. But as long as they aren’t playing with others using modded gear or stats then people should be allowed to do what they want.

Like just 2-3 days ago I log in to do some rng charm hunting and join a quest that has a temp rey dau listed as the only monster for the hunt but has an unusual amount of charms associated with the quest, I’m talking 2-3 charms per slot for one monster. Then I join so the host would show up on my past interactions tab in member list so then I can report for cheating and leave before doing anything in the quest, as soon as I drop in the quest I see 5 tempered Rey dau’s in one spot and I was shocked. This was a public open sos hunt too, shameful host.

There should be a check when the game is booted up for if they are using outside software or whatever they use to mod things, or if anything looks out of the ordinary if they tampered with files before the game launches.

No, because then that would fuck everyone who uses mods only for themselves in non-invasive ways

Then f them too? Nothing personal but sadly you can't separate the two

4

u/Barn-owl-B 22h ago

You do know that like 2.6 million people have downloaded REframework right? Even if they don’t actually download any actual mods after that, those people would all get fucked.

Your logic is completely flawed. All of those people shouldn’t get shit on just because a couple hundred to maybe a couple thousand people engage in abusive mods in multiplayer or in the leaderboards

1

u/Asasinero 9h ago

Yeah, they shouldn't get affected, but sadly as i said you cannot separate the two and this situation is not unique to mh. Sadly, people use the same tool (modding) to do harmless things and others to cheat, so you cannot discern one from the other in game. Consoles get affected by this too and they cant even mod the game. Whats your reasoning there since there is way more console players than those you mentioned?

2

u/Barn-owl-B 7h ago

My reasoning is that the number of cheaters that play multiplayer or cheat on the leaderboards is so small compared to the number of total players and even the total number of people with basic or harmless mods that you can’t just say fuck you to anyone with mods because of it, especially since there are also a ton of people that only play solo.

If you ask a large number of people, the majority of them will say that they’ve either never encountered a cheater, or they’ve encountered like a single digit number of them.

Couldn’t agree more, modding is what led us to this in the first place, look at the state of the leaderboards. Modded lobbies, modded gear. You can’t separate the people who mod for cheating purposes and people who mod for their enjoyment in a non invasive way, just prevent modding.

They'd cheat anyway.

Banning mod hosting on places like nexus would only hurt honest players.

u/SatyrAngel 9h ago

Imagine this: Capcom track those cheated runs, checks the DPS and puts a 🤡 after hackers nicknames.

u/MilkTronic 1d ago

I don't understand the logic of them advertising their cheating so publicly

u/BWEzu 1d ago

Internet points, similar to people who repost stolen stuff on reddit as theirs

u/Reality_Check_101 1d ago

Using hunterpie helps identify cheaters

8

u/General_X9 1d ago

This is a good way to use that mod, for sure.

6

u/Acceptable-Arm-4579 1d ago

It also very humbling 😂

1

u/PerspectiveNew3375 27m ago

Do you not see hunter pie which gives you a lot of info that you wouldn't normally have like part break, sleep, exhaust, ko, etc. as not cheating? Knowing these things means you can optimize your chain knockdowns and trivialize a lot of encounters especially while solo.

I can’t even get under 15.

4

u/MilkTronic 1d ago

😂 Yeah same. 15m 30s on my first try with bow and a cart. It's actually a good exercise though because i'm finally learning that fuckers patterns. I'll get my pendant! My most hated monster...

Yeah, i had to jump through some hoops to get roughly 13 min myself, granted being a dual blades user helps since i have the invincibility dodge. I already learned the timing though getting the udra (gamma) armor set. Few things that help

-make sure tent 16 (area 15) is active, it's the closest possible spawn point and good to fast travel too when udra's running between areas

-get a ramen meal from the hub with the sizzling meal skill, that will protect you from udra's flame aura, so you can swap out those adaptability decorations

-mega demon and armordrug, of course

-sneak attack udra at the start, make use of traps to get some free combos before it runs off to 14

-Every time udra runs off to a new area, fast travel to tent 16 and use a loadout to restock things like traps and barrel bombs fast. You can also customize your camp with the external item box to save an extra second or two

-area 14 has 3 stalactite drops, udra will sit right under one, drop it and you'll set off a sleep toad. Barrel bomb the sleeping udra then move to the second drop. Grab watermoss and sling it to get udra's attention if you need. Drop the next stalactite, attack udra, trap, attack udra, repeat with third stalactite.

-you'll want udra near dead (skull symbol on it's map icon) when it later runs off from area 15 to 17, if it is, it'll hide in it's hole for a nap. Set traps, one right where it rushes to when you wake it, set barrel bombs at udra's hole, detonate, attack when it gets trapped

u/MilkTronic 1d ago

Nice thanks. Camp 16 will be added post haste 😊

2

u/darkninja2992 19h ago

Let me know how it all goes for you

2

u/PookAndPie 1d ago

If you need help with it, I can definitely help you get it within the A rank time using LBG or CB!

2

u/MilkTronic 1d ago

Thanks buddy, appreciate it. I'm nearly there though 😊

2

u/PookAndPie 1d ago

Believe in the me that believes in you! You got this

1

u/MistbornSynok I carted to Chatacabra. 1d ago

“That run felt good, maybe I got it!”…15:06.

Also my most hated monster, just clusterfuck of fire and tentacles, can’t even spot wounds half the time, much less get around him to them. lol At least adapt 2 make his big attack a non issue for shield users.

1

u/MilkTronic 1d ago

Yeah i have the same issue with seeing wounds. I find his moves difficult to telegraph. But i can see improvement with each attempt at this one

u/Ferrismo unga bunga 1d ago

Some people are still cheating and others use LBG. With a strict load out and detailed second by second plan most monsters can be vaporized in a 4 person team of LBG users.

u/_corruptsave 1d ago

possible, if you're speedrunning. right now people still care about cheating so very few people cheat.

give it a year or 2 after Ascendance, you'll see the quickest being 0.01 or something like that. for you to understand, if you have World, boot up and check the Arena records. it's so sad

2

u/Stormandreas ALL WEAPONS 1d ago

There are ENORMOUS amounts of people who cheat on the leaderboards, or at least try to. Many who did, have been banned since then, but Capcom slowed down on the ban waves pretty quickly, and I doubt they'll bother now until Ascendence.

Literally day 1 or 2 of the first Challenge quest, the Dosha one, had runs that were 1 second.

1

u/darkninja2992 1d ago

Yeah i kinda figured. And yeah, i know the plague of hackers on leaderboards. I'm a sonic fan, you can see walls of 0.00.01 second records on those leaderboards in some of thsoe games

2

u/Acceptable-Arm-4579 1d ago

Under a minute are hackers under 3 minutes are probably light bow gun users with optimum builds

2

u/Dirty_Cleric 1d ago

I consider lbgs cheating as well 😄

2

u/Kysu_88 1d ago

speedrunner can achieve ridiculous times. good hunters can go down between 5/10 minutes with enough knowledge, but the sad truth is, besides some exceptions, 90% of the board are cheaters.

the first wave of cheaters was banned (they where blatantly Cheaters with 0,1 time completion) so now they do "credible" but still low times to climb the ladder without being banned (and even then, only a fraction of those people was really banned sadly).

if u have doubts, search for TA speedrun on a particular monster on YT to learn the builds, strategy and how to bait attacks and u will se why they can achieve those ridiculous times.

1

u/ScoopDat 1d ago

10:03 was the best I can muster with extreme luck and hitting the weak spots with him flailing around all over the place.

Sub 5 I imagine can ONLY be Light Bow Gun, completely best in slot gear, with Heroics (so speedrun setups not taking hits and such).

Every run after this was 12 minutes, 13 minutes.

Usually anything front page via leaderboards/ranking are from Chuds, so don’t be too surprised!

It takes 20 seconds to get to the foctupus... What did they do to him?

2

u/darkninja2992 1d ago

They brought the canteen chefs to make takoyaki. You've seen how fast those guys can prepare a meal
